Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Calling Another Man’s Name in My Arms?
Eleanor Valerius continued working unaffected after sending Jenson Lancaster away.
"I would like a cup of coffee."
Damian Lowell spoke up, intending to take advantage of the absence of others to discuss other matters with her.
"Of course, Lawyer Lowell, you’re a distinguished guest of the Ford Family."
Eleanor arranged for them to have coffee in the lounge, and the discussion remained on work-related topics.
"If you’re not serious about getting married, I can give you some advice both personally and professionally."
Damian Lowell implied he could help her escape the Lancaster Family’s arranged engagement.
Hearing this, Eleanor was momentarily stunned, then smiled softly, saying, "When I get married, I’ll send you an invitation, Lawyer Lowell."
She wasn’t sure if Damian Lowell’s interest in her affairs was well-intentioned or a test.
Her instinctive wariness suggested she didn’t trust him.
Damian Lowell hadn’t expected her to be so guarded. Why was she so compliant with Sebastian Ford?
She was maintaining an intimate relationship with Sebastian Ford while posing as the Lancaster Family’s fiancée. She must have been coerced.
Taking advantage of this opportunity today.
Damian Lowell deliberately orchestrated an incident before leaving.
"The electronic lock isn’t working because of a power outage?"
Eleanor couldn’t believe she was trapped with Damian Lowell in the model room.
The surroundings were pitch black, and there was no phone signal.
"Don’t worry, my driver can’t reach me, but he’ll come looking soon."
"We can’t just wait here. I’ll see if there’s another door."
Eleanor turned on her phone’s flashlight and carefully navigated the unfamiliar environment.
Unbeknownst to her, Damian Lowell had blocked the phone signal to prevent her from contacting Sebastian Ford.
Meanwhile, Damian Lowell wanted to earn her trust.
As Eleanor passed by a display cabinet, he deliberately pushed it hard, and when things fell toward Eleanor, he rushed over to protect her from getting hurt.
"Lawyer Lowell! Are you okay?"
Eleanor quickly turned and used the flashlight to check his injuries.
At this moment, Damian Lowell unbuttoned his shirt, rolled up his sleeves, revealing a red mark from where he was hit.
"I’m fine. Fortunately, it didn’t hit you."
Eleanor inadvertently noticed a pink scar on the inside of his arm.
She paused, instinctively reaching out to touch it.
Her mind replayed distant memories.
As a child in the orphanage, when she fell from a tree out of playful mischief, Vincent caught her.
There was a similar scar on his arm.
Though she couldn’t picture Vincent’s face now, Damian Lowell triggered her suspicion.
Suddenly, Eleanor’s breath hitched with tension, and she couldn’t help but ask, "Lawyer Lowell... have you ever changed your name?"
Children leaving the orphanage often had new names and identities.
The next moment, Eleanor looked up, gazing intently at Damian Lowell.
Her eyes held cautious anticipation.
However, Damian Lowell suppressed the urge to reveal their connection and smiled, saying, "This is the name my parents gave me. I haven’t changed it. Why do you ask?"
"It’s nothing."
He was not Vincent.
Eleanor softly sighed in disappointment.
She knew it; fate wouldn’t be so kind as to let her reunite with Vincent so easily.
Except for Sebastian Ford, no one could offer her an escape from her hellish situation.
Damian Lowell didn’t see the despair in Eleanor’s eyes when she lowered her head.
At this moment, he didn’t know he was making a decision he’d regret for the rest of his life.
"I saw a door over there that wasn’t locked. We should be able to get out."
Eleanor was still eager to leave.
Yet, Damian Lowell had even created a dangerous situation with thick smoke seeping in.
As soon as the door was opened, the rush of air caused chaos.
Eleanor coughed and felt dizzy, unable to stand.
"Be careful, cover your nose and mouth. I’ll carry you out."
With her consciousness fading, Eleanor couldn’t refuse when Damian Lowell lifted her in his arms.
The light of the phone’s flashlight bounced vigorously.
The interweaving lights and shadows made Eleanor feel as if she had returned to the orphanage.
"Eleanor? Eleanor!"
Damian Lowell didn’t anticipate the mishap would be so severe.
After leaving the project site, he got into the car and urged the driver to go to the hospital.
The vehicle was moving down the road.
Suddenly, blinding headlights flashed ahead.
Two oncoming vehicles blocked their way, and the driver slammed on the brakes.
"What’s going on?"
Damian Lowell was still protecting Eleanor in his arms.
"Mr. Lowell, it’s the Ford Family’s car!"
This section of the road was directly blocked and occupied by Ford Family vehicles.
Sebastian Ford, dressed in black, got out of his car, approaching step by step, with his sharp, penetrating gaze seemingly able to pierce the night.
"Lawyer Lowell, hand over my person."
He stood outside the car, his voice a warning.
Half an hour ago, Nathan Kendrick had ed to him about Eleanor’s disappearance with Damian Lowell.
He couldn’t remain calm and had come directly to retrieve her.
Through the darkened car window glass.
Damian Lowell frowned, unwilling to let go of the rare chance to hold Eleanor in his arms.
However, Sebastian Ford clearly had no patience.
"If you don’t get out, I’ll come in personally."
There was no need for bodyguards; Sebastian Ford could handle everything on his own.
Damian Lowell knew he couldn’t clash with the Ford Family just yet.
He then opened the car door.
Sebastian Ford’s sharp gaze swept over, and when he saw Eleanor in Damian’s arms, seemingly unconscious, his anger escalated.
"What did Lawyer Lowell do to my person?"
He directly took Eleanor back, cradling her under her legs and gently patting her cheeks.
"The Ford project experienced a power outage, and Assistant Valerius was affected by the smoke. I was about to take her to the hospital."
Damian Lowell explained calmly.
"How coincidental that accidents happen only when Lawyer Lowell is around."
Sebastian Ford dismissively sneered, eyes narrowing dangerously as he said, "I’ll make new arrangements to ensure no similar accidents occur. Lawyer Lowell, if you have no more issues, go home to rest. I’ll take my person with me."
Damian Lowell could only watch helplessly as Sebastian Ford took Eleanor away.
Inside the Ford Family’s car.
Sebastian Ford laid Eleanor flat, using an oxygen tank to help her breathe.
The cold sensation on her face helped Eleanor gradually regain consciousness.
"Vincent..."
Half-dreaming, she murmured.
"Eleanor Valerius, are you awake?"
This deep voice resounded in her ear.
Sebastian Ford?!
Suddenly, Eleanor’s eyes snapped open.
Realizing whom she had just called, she saw Sebastian’s handsome face close by and felt a surge of panic and fear.
"Master Ford... how did I end up back with you?"
She noticed the car and was unaware of the events that had just transpired.
Sebastian Ford let her continue inhaling oxygen, his slender fingers gently stroking her hair, his dark eyes reflecting her image.
"You weren’t calling for Master Ford just now; in my arms, you called another man’s name?"
He nonchalantly inquired, causing Eleanor to immediately tense up.
"I... I was scared and didn’t know what I was saying."
Eleanor’s eyes were instantly watery as she looked at him, her voice hoarse and coughing as she added, "I haven’t seen you all day, and I missed you..."
Shifting the focus, she tried to act spoiled and divert attention.
Sebastian Ford squinted with a light chuckle, sitting up straight, his tone feigning displeasure, "When you miss me, you’re with another man and not calling my name. Aren’t you afraid of losing me by hurting me like this?"
His voice sounded aggrieved and saddened, but it was actually filled with implicit anger and threat.
Suddenly, Eleanor quickly struggled to sit up.
She wanted to move into his embrace but was too dizzy to muster the strength.
Sebastian Ford watched coldly, letting her fall down from the seat.
Yet, he spread his long legs apart, his large hand pinning Eleanor’s head down with a force that prevented her from getting up.
At this moment, Eleanor was kneeling in front of Sebastian Ford.
