Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Master Ford Is Actually Quite Reserved
Sebastian Ford’s deep gaze rested on the beaming Eleanor Valerius.
Realizing the overwhelming temptation she presented, it seemed like he was fighting against losing control, his demeanor growing sharper and more indifferent.
"I reserved the restaurant, who let you in?"
His displeased question was edged with sharpness.
Upon hearing this, Eleanor’s eyes trembled slightly in astonishment, but her smile became even more provocative.
"I’m Mr. Ford’s assistant. Seeing that you’re here for business, of course I’d come over proactively."
Behind her, Jenson Lancaster also approached with a sycophantic smile, accompanied by Sharon Sinclair.
Sebastian gave a lazy glance, frowning, realizing that Eleanor deliberately used Jenson to provoke and agitate him.
Such clumsy tactics!
Did she really think he would care?
He did! Damn it, he cared!
Sebastian looked at her with a cold, dark gaze, rejecting, "I’ve transferred you back to the PR department; you’re no longer my assistant. There’s no need to account for your personal time to me, nor should you disturb me here."
"Mr. Ford..."
So cold!
Eleanor was slightly taken aback, unexpectedly finding it hard to adjust.
She was used to his wild, intense demeanor, yet had forgotten that the esteemed Third Master Ford was inherently an untouchably aloof figure.
Everyone saw Sebastian as this dangerous person, and now his image shifted in front of her.
This was because his attitude towards her had become one of distant rejection and guardedness.
Nonetheless, Eleanor stood there awkwardly, unsure of what she was stubbornly holding onto.
"Don’t make me say it a second time."
Sebastian no longer looked at her, a frown faintly suppressing his anger.
He was annoyed that he was showing signs of losing control.
Just her standing there, using both provoking and coy tactics to entice him.
Ha, ridiculous!
Was he really that worthless?!
"Get out!"
Sebastian angrily barked a command to leave.
Eleanor was momentarily startled by him.
At this moment, seeing the restaurant staff ready to come over to evict them.
"Mr. Ford, then we’ll leave now."
Eleanor took a deep breath, forcing a cheerful smile to maintain dignity.
It was apparent that Jenson had not expected Master Ford to behave so coldly towards her.
"You must’ve done something to anger Master Ford; you probably won’t have another chance now."
Sharon seized the opportunity to sneer beside them.
She intended to remind Jenson that Eleanor had lost her utility in the Ford Family.
However, Jenson, infatuated with Eleanor’s beauty, continued to flatter her.
Crushed, Eleanor deliberately hooked Jenson’s arm, smilingly saying, "Jenson, let’s rehearse the wedding ceremony after dinner. Soon I’ll be your legitimate wife."
Jenson nodded repeatedly, extremely pleased, though he didn’t know why he felt a chill down his spine.
Leaving Sebastian’s line of sight.
Eleanor suppressed her disgust, quickly withdrawing from any intimate gestures towards Jenson.
She intended to use him to make Sebastian jealous, but she loathed physical contact with other men.
The meal was quite unpleasant.
When rehearsing the ceremony, Eleanor feigned discomfort.
"Jenson, have Sharon stand in for me; I’ll observe what’s needed for adjustment."
At this point, Jenson complied with her every wish, fueling only greater jealousy and frustration in Sharon, who was just a stand-in.
Sitting below, watching the two rehearse the wedding plan, Eleanor’s thoughts were on Sebastian.
She hesitated repeatedly, since he wasn’t answering calls, she could only send messages.
[Master Ford, are you still mad at me? I dressed up today especially for you, but you didn’t even look at me.]
[No matter how I apologize, don’t you want to deal with me anymore?]
[I miss you, can’t you give me a chance?]
But all the messages she sent sank like stones into the sea.
At this moment, Sebastian’s tall, stately figure stood high above, watching her.
He couldn’t pull his gaze away, deluding himself it was desensitization withdrawal.
Behind him, Mason dared not urge.
Sebastian’s phone screen was filled with her messages.
He saw every single one.
He didn’t want to give Eleanor any more opportunities to affect him; he was about to block and delete her.
[Master Ford, don’t block me.]
[Please.]
Seeing this message, Sebastian held his breath almost imperceptibly, as if he could hear her pouting, pleading.
His fingers hovered in mid-air, hesitating to press down.
Finally, he squinted and suppressed a curse, unable to harden his heart to delete her.
...
As Eleanor left the restaurant.
She glanced behind her, but Sebastian was already gone.
Unbeknownst to her, Jenson and Sharon were tangled in a quarrel.
Jenson, neglecting Sharon, walked over, stretching out a grubby hand to touch Eleanor.
Before he could reach her, Eleanor swiftly sidestepped to dodge.
"Jenson, though I’m temporarily not by Mr. Ford’s side, I still participate in Ford and Sinclair’s cooperative project. For Lancaster’s future, I won’t have time to accompany you."
Eleanor noticed Jenson’s intentions, feeling only revulsion.
She made an excuse to leave, returning to the company.
In the afternoon.
Eleanor received a document needing Mr. Ford’s signature, finally gaining access to the executive elevator to his office.
However, she hadn’t expected to be cornered at the door by former secretary colleagues, unable to get out.
"This is a document from the PR department for Mr. Ford."
Eleanor held it in her hand, only to have it snatched away.
"Assistant Valerius has been transferred out of the executive office; delivering documents is our responsibility."
The flamboyant female secretaries collectively ostracized Eleanor.
After all, with her there before, they never had a chance beside Mr. Ford.
"I need to personally deliver this to Mr. Ford..."
Before Eleanor could finish, she was suddenly shoved, her elbow hitting the elevator door hard, bringing tears to her eyes from the pain.
"I’m responsible for delivering the document; after Mr. Ford processes it, I will resend it to the PR department."
The secretaries were eager to take credit, not forgetting to mock and belittle her: "Mr. Ford himself said you’re not part of this office anymore, Assistant Valerius. Don’t come here again unless you want security to throw you out, and maybe you won’t even keep your job."
Eleanor said nothing, her arm hurt too much.
Before the elevator doors slowly closed, her gaze remained fixed on the executive office’s door.
Was it true she really had no chance to return to Sebastian’s side?
After work.
Dinner was an arrangement Eleanor made for Julia Ford to meet Damian Lowell.
However, Sophia Ford called Julia away unexpectedly.
When Damian drove to the company, it created the misleading impression that he came specifically to pick up Eleanor.
It was raining outside.
Holding a lot of documents and materials, Eleanor struggled to open her umbrella at the entrance, so much so that pain shot through her arm, causing everything to fall.
"Are you injured?"
Damian’s sharp gaze fell on Eleanor as she squatted to pick up the documents.
He held the umbrella, squatting down beside her, unbothered by the rain soaking his right shoulder.
During rush hour, all company employees witnessed this scene.
They were stunned, questioning what the relationship was between Lawyer Lowell and Assistant Valerius.
Soon after, they were even more stunned when Mr. Ford, who usually took the VIP parking lot passage, also exited through here.
In Eleanor’s view from her low position, she suddenly saw a pair of extraordinary long legs passing by.
But Sebastian did not pause for her, continuing straight to where his driver would pick him up.
"Master Ford..."
Eleanor craned her neck, looking up at him, couldn’t help but call out softly.
He still ignored her.
"Mr. Ford."
Just then, Damian helped Eleanor to her feet, deliberately standing closely, nearly intimate.
When Sebastian turned around, he saw the place beside Eleanor occupied by Damian Lowell.
Perfect!
His eyes instantly erupted into a stormy fury.
