Chapter 402: 012: A Hint of Sweetness
Ye Lingran looked in the direction he indicated. The building had large letters spelling "Galaxy Cinema." She was momentarily stunned, and her heart inexplicably began to race. She nodded with a smile and said, "Okay, it seems like there are several new films released recently."
While crossing the street, Ye Lingran fell a couple of steps behind him and noticed that he was carrying her high heels in his hand. Her heart filled with a bit of sweetness, feeling just like they were in a couple’s relationship.
When they reached the other side of the street, Yun Qi noticed she hadn’t caught up yet. He deliberately stopped to wait for her. Once she reached his side, he started walking again, but his strides were noticeably smaller, matching her pace.
When they arrived at the cinema, there were lines at all three ticket counters. Ye Lingran looked at the film choices on the big screen, pondering seriously before saying anything. Yun Qi asked, "Have you decided what you want to watch?"
"What do you like to watch?"
"Actually... to be honest, this is my first time coming to a cinema."
"Ah? The first time?" Ye Lingran widened her eyes in surprise. It was hard to believe that a group president like him had never been to a cinema. It seemed a bit unbelievable but also understandable, considering he’s so busy and likely wouldn’t have the time to visit a regular cinema.
"Don’t believe it?" Yun Qi chuckled at her astonished expression.
Ye Lingran regained her composure and nodded with a smile. "It is a bit surprising, but as the president of the Yun Group, you’re surely very busy and probably don’t have the time for movies. But... not even during your school years?"
Yun Qi chuckled, recalling his school days, and shook his head, "Never."
"Since that’s the case, you should choose this time! What do you want to see?"
"No need, this is our first time watching a movie together. You decide! Whatever you want to watch, buy the tickets. Don’t worry about me."
"But..."
"There will be many more opportunities in the future, it’s okay."
Ye Lingran was startled. His words carried a deeper meaning, making her find it hard to grasp completely. Yet, the flutter in her heart didn’t cease. When she noticed his gaze on her, she snapped out of it and hurriedly turned back to the big screen, randomly pointing with a bit of panic, "Then... let’s see this one!"
Following her direction, Yun Qi squinted slightly, a hint of suspicion in his eyes, "Are you sure?"
Ye Lingran averted her gaze, nodded, and replied confidently, "Yes, I’m sure."
"Alright, wait here for me. I’ll go stand in line for the tickets. Do you want any drinks or snacks?"
"Just some milk tea and popcorn."
"Okay, then wait here for a bit while I go."
"Mm." Seeing that he was about to leave, Ye Lingran smoothly held him back, "Um... let me hold the shoes for now. It might be inconvenient for you to carry stuff later."
Yun Qi glanced at the bag in his hand, nodded, handed it to her with a smile, and didn’t say anything more before heading to the line.
After waiting for about four or five minutes, Yun Qi returned with two movie tickets, a cup of milk tea, a cup of coffee, and a bucket of popcorn. Several young girls nearby were looking at Yun Qi with sparkling eyes.
"All set?" Ye Lingran looked up at him holding so many things and quickly stood to take the milk tea and popcorn from him. She peeked at the tickets, "What time is it for?"
"Seven minutes from now. We can almost go in for ticket checks."
"Then let’s go in!"
"Mm." Seeing her about to squat down to pick up the bag at her feet, he quickly bent down to grab it first, "Let me take it! Let’s go!"
Once inside the cinema, there were already many people seated, mostly couples. Ye Lingran and Yun Qi sat down as the movie was just starting. Ye Lingran set her bag aside and, feeling a bit warm, took off her scarf.
As the film’s opening began, Ye Lingran’s expression froze, and her gentle smile stiffened, "Why... why is it... a horror movie?"
Yun Qi couldn’t help but smile wryly. Looking at her with a bit of helplessness, he said, "Didn’t I ask you before I bought the tickets? Who was it that confidently said they wanted to see this? What’s wrong now? Scared?"
Ye Lingran was speechless. She had just randomly pointed in a panic, not even seeing the title clear enough. Who knew her luck would be so good to pick the very movie she was most afraid of—a horror film!
