Chapter 540: 018: That Painting_2
And Lu Shishu’s return gift was that spur-of-the-moment painting she did earlier. He leaned against the trunk of a plane tree holding a phone. These two paintings were called the tokens of their love by Nan Jiayan, and Nan Jiayan especially liked that painting, even calling it priceless, saying he would cherish it for a lifetime.
But after he vanished without a trace, Lu Shishu had no idea how he preserved that painting. She only knew that the painting he gave her was also extremely precious, carefully preserving it, even though this painting was painful for her, a sorrow she did not want to recall, a nightmare she tried hard to forget. Yet she couldn’t bear to throw it away, always keeping it in her studio. Although it was not placed in the most prominent spot, every time she entered, she would unconsciously look at the painting.
As if, as long as that painting was there, her heart would settle down a bit.
Compared to back then, the painting seemed much older, but there was no damage, and the paints on it were particularly striking.
After gazing at it for who knows how long, Lu Shishu finally shifted her gaze away from the painting, walked over, found a special cover cloth for paintings from a drawer, covered it, and then hid the painting behind other works. Only then did she turn back to pick up the drawing board and paints again and left the studio. In front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, she set up her drawing board and started to paint casually.
Whenever she was bored or had leisure time, she would use painting to pass the time, all done as a joke, painting whatever, resting when tired, painting if she wanted. She was always a free-spirited person, never liking to be restrained. So her current lifestyle was rather carefree. To this day, she had not treated painting as work but merely as a hobby.
So when she was in a bad mood, she wouldn’t take on work, and Lin Zhiyuan, as an assistant, was very familiar with her temperament. Therefore, she handled work in an orderly manner. Besides, working for Lu Shishu not only paid well but was also quite relaxed. Sometimes, it’s possible to have five days off a week.
The only downside was that Lu Shishu’s personality was too cold and eccentric. Although she was good to her subordinates, she seldom spoke. Working for her required having a clever mind to figure out what she needed at the time.
In this regard, Lin Zhiyuan also succeeded, and she did quite well. Lu Shishu was also very fond of her.
As it approached four o’clock, Lu Shishu felt tired from sitting, so she put down the paintbrush in her hand, got up, stretched lazily, and went to the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee.
Returning to the living room, Lin Xuwan’s call came, saying that she had already met with He Qianyue and reminded her not to forget the class reunion in the evening. Lu Shishu smiled faintly and replied that she wouldn’t forget.
After hanging up the phone, Lu Shishu leisurely enjoyed her coffee while sitting on the hanging chair on the balcony, basking in the sun, feeling very relaxed and carefree.
After finishing the coffee, Lu Shishu glanced at a message Cen Jin sent her, replied with an ’okay’, then went back inside, glanced at the clock on the wall, washed the coffee cup and put it back in its place, and then went to the dressing room to change and get ready to go out.
After tidying herself up, Lu Shishu chose a red cropped top and paired it with high-waisted vintage black wide-leg pants. Coupled with her indifferent and disdainful face, it added a bit of small dominance and sensuality to her aura.
This gathering was initiated by He Qianyue, and it was she who booked the restaurant. However, other arrangements were helped by Lin Xuwan because she had just returned to take over the branch company and was really too busy.
The restaurant she booked was a Chinese restaurant, very grand and upscale, with a particularly elegant decor. It’s also a favorite spot for many stars to dine at, and dining there always required a reservation in advance; otherwise, you might not get a seat, especially the private room spots, which were particularly in demand.
By the time she arrived at the restaurant, it was already past six; the sky turned dark, and the neon lights at the street corners lit up one after another, gradually tinting the azure curtain, while the streets were bustling and noisy.
Lu Shishu walked in, informed the server who approached her of He Qianyue’s surname, and was then led by the server to a private room on the third floor of the restaurant.
"Thank you." Seeing the server stop outside the private room and nod slightly to her, Lu Shishu responded mildly, watching her leave.
