Chapter 474: Dangerous Auras
Meanwhile, Bai Hanyun led the group into a secluded courtyard. Before closing the door, she glanced around.
Seeing no one around, she pondered for a moment, looked at the rooftop, and said, "Yi Bai, none of you are allowed to come in and eavesdrop. Otherwise, your snacks will be stopped for three months."
After issuing the warning, Bai Hanyun closed the door. Looking at Hua Yuyu and the others, she said, "Brothers, let’s go inside."
As Bai Hanyun and the others entered the main hall, Yi Bai and the other secret guards exchanged looks.
"What should we do now?" one secret guard asked.
Yi Bai shrugged and asked him back, "Do any of you dare disobey Fairy Bai?"
The shadow guards immediately shook their heads at her question.
"Then we can only wait," Yi Bai said as she took out her small notebook again.
Dipping her writing brush in the ink inside a small bamboo tube, she wrote: [Miss Bai brought that group of men into a back courtyard, locked the door, and forbade us from following. There must be some secret between them. But... What is it? Can Master find out the answer? I can’t wait to know.]
After writing down the note, Yi Bai put away the notebook, took out a bag of sunflower seeds, and shared them with the others.
"So... what do you all think the relationship is between Fairy Bai and those men?" she asked curiously.
The shadow guards shook their heads in unison, cracking sunflower seeds as they stared at the closed courtyard gate in the distance.
After everyone took a seat around a round table, Bai Hanyun closed the main hall doors.
Walking up to them, she took a seat, then asked in a low voice, "Brother Hua, where are you guys going after we arrive in this world? Why did it take you so long to come to Xiqiang City?"
Taking out the black token, Hua Yuyu placed it on the round table and asked, "Miss Bai, have you seen this token before?"
Bai Hanyun picked up the black token, examined it closely, and nodded. "Yes. I remember Feng Wu having one. But... the carving is different from this one."
After saying that, she raised her eyes to look at Hua Yuyu. "Brother Hua, this is an identity token of the Feng Clan’s shadow guards. Where did you get it?"
"Feng Er gave it to me," Hua Yuyu replied. Thinking that Bai Hanyun might not know Feng Er, he added, "Feng Er is the Vice Commander of the Feng Clan’s shadow guards."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun’s eyes flickered with realization as she put the token down. "No wonder I couldn’t find you all here. So you went to the Feng Clan’s shadow guards headquarters."
Hua Yuyu nodded. "That’s right. That place is quite far from here. It takes six hours by carriage, but more than twenty hours by horse carriage."
After he said that, Bai Hanyun glanced at their clothes and smiled. "Ancient-style clothes suit you all quite well."
Hua Yuyu looked down at his black attire and said, "They are quite troublesome to move around in."
Bai Hanyun chuckled when she heard this.
"You are still better off," she said, lifting her long sleeve for the others to take a look, and added, "Look at me. It takes me twenty minutes just to put these clothes on every day."
Seeing everyone laugh, Bai Hanyun’s expression softened.
"Brother Hua, wars and natural disasters are plaguing this world. We should stay together. If something happens, I can take all of us away safely."
Hua Yuyu nodded. "I think so too."
Since the decision had been made, Bai Hanyun stood up and said, "You all must be tired and hungry after such a long journey. Go and rest first. I will go check on the food and call you all when the meal is ready."
"Alright."
While Hua Yuyu and his brothers rested, Bai Hanyun went to the kitchen to check whether the food was ready.
At the same time, a shadow guard arrived at the commander’s tent of the Feng Army.
Seeing Feng Xiyan standing by the sand table, deep in thought, he appeared silently behind him and knelt on the hard ground. "Master."
Feng Xiyan came out of his thoughts and glanced at the shadow guard’s black mask.
Seeing the golden pixiu carving on the upper right corner of the black mask, Feng Xiyan asked, "Aren’t the members of the Fifth Division assigned to protect Yun’er? Why are you here?"
Lowering his head, the shadow guard ed, "ing to Master. Half a sichen ago, a group of men arrived at the Great General’s mansion, escorted by brothers from headquarters."
Feng Xiyan’s eyes flickered with curiosity. "Oh? Who are they? What business do they have there?"
Noticing the shadow guard’s hesitation, Feng Xiyan frowned slightly. "Speak."
The shadow guard steeled himself and quickly said, "ing to Master. Those men are looking for Fairy Bai."
The moment Feng Xiyan heard this, his expression darkened. He turned sharply toward the shadow guard and asked dangerously, "What did you say? They are looking for Yun’er?"
"Yes," the shadow guard confirmed. "One of them seems capable of detecting this subordinate’s concealment technique. Moreover, all of them emit dangerous auras."
Feng Xiyan pondered briefly before issuing an order. "Go back and keep an eye on them. to me immediately if you discover anything unusual."
"Yes, Master." As soon as the words fell, the shadow guard vanished.
Left alone in the tent, Feng Xiyan remained silent for a long moment before leaving the tent. He mounted his warhorse tied outside the tent and galloped away.
When the dust settled, the two soldiers guarding the tent exchanged looks.
One of them swallowed hard and asked with a hint of fear in his voice, "Did you see the Great General’s expression just now?"
The other nodded and then replied with a trace of pity in his voice. "I don’t know who angered the Great General, but that person is definitely going to be unlucky."
Nodding in agreement, the first soldier silently lit a candle in his heart for whoever had provoked Feng Xiyan.
