Chapter 490: The Third Change Of The Wheel Of Fate
The garrison of Xiqiang City was located in the western district. Due to the city’s reconstruction project, the western district was now crowded with workers and soldiers guarding the area.
When the soldiers and workers saw Feng Xiyan riding his tall, majestic warhorse while escorting two horse carriages, they all stopped what they were doing.
Lining up neatly by the roadside, the soldiers clasped their fists and greeted him in unison, "This subordinate greets the Great General."
Kneeling behind the soldiers, the workers lowered their heads, their foreheads touching the ground, and followed after the soldiers, "This commoner greets the Great General Feng."
As the greetings echoed through the surroundings, Feng Xiyan calmly rode past them.
After he disappeared into the distance with the two horse carriages, the soldiers said, "Alright, let’s get back to work."
Standing up from the ground, the workers resumed their tasks.
Inside the first horse carriage, Bai Hanyun lifted the curtain and looked outside.
Seeing that the once abandoned and dilapidated western district was now filled with newly built structures and freshly constructed roads, she smiled in satisfaction.
Noticing the smile on her lips, Bao Shengjie asked, "Miss Bai, did those materials come from our world?"
Bai Hanyun nodded. "Mhm. I bought them earlier in exchange for some antiques with Feng Xiyan."
Hearing this, Bao Shengjie muttered, "Now that I have come to this world, all my past questions and mysteries about you finally have answers."
Lowering the curtain, Bai Hanyun turned to him and asked, "What do you think about this world?"
Bao Shengjie pondered for a moment before shaking his head. "This world is worse than ours in many ways, but it also has its own advantages."
Raising her brows slightly, Bai Hanyun asked curiously, "Oh? What kind of advantages?"
"Given how underdeveloped this world’s technology is, there must be many natural resources that are still untouched. If the people here could use and process them wisely, this world might become even better than ours," Bao Shengjie replied thoughtfully.
He sighed and added, "At least there is no pollution here, and the planet is still healthy. Unlike ours, which might enter an apocalyptic era if humans continue their wasteful and damaging behavior."
After listening to him, Bai Hanyun fell into deep thought.
’What Shengjie said is right. Is it really alright for me to bring modern technology and weapons into this world?’
Noticing that she was lost in thought, the usually quiet Wu Jun suddenly spoke up.
"Miss Bai, everything has both good and bad sides. Your decision to introduce modern products, technology, and weapons may disrupt the natural course of this world, but it also saves countless lives."
"Nobody can judge whether what you are doing is right or wrong. As long as you remain true to your original intention, that is enough."
"As for the future, it can only be handled when it arrives. Don’t overthink this. There is no perfect correct answer for this kind of question."
Listening to his words, Bai Hanyun felt her heart and mind become clearer. Nodding at Wu Jun, she smiled sincerely. "Thank you, Brother Wu. I understand what I should do now."
Wu Jun nodded in response and returned his attention to his laptop, and continued calculating for their project.
Riding alongside the horse carriage, Feng Xiyan overheard their conversation.
Clenching the reins, he silently vowed,
’If Yun’er is punished by Heaven for helping the common people and the Feng Army, then I will fight Heaven for her sake.’
The moment he made that vow, Gui Ying, who was sitting inside the second carriage, suddenly opened his eyes.
Taking out a small round mirror from his spatial ring, he formed a hand seal and tapped the center of the mirror. A second later, golden particles gathered above it, and then soon transformed into countless stars.
Examining the stellar formation, Gui Ying’s eyes flashed with surprise. "Fate is changing again?"
He frowned slightly and muttered, "The first time is because of Fairy Bai’s appearance in this world. The second time is because of the Yin Yang Mirror. So, what is the cause of the change in the fate this time?"
After pondering briefly, Gui Ying calculated with his fingers. A moment of silence later, his frowns deepened.
"This young master actually failed to see the fate?" he muttered in surprise.
Recalling the day he unsealed the bloodline suppression within Gui Xiaoxu’s dantian, Gui Ying sneered.
"Heavenly Dao, you dare block my sight? Heh. Do you think this young master will let you act as you please? Since you never intended to give this world a chance to survive since the beginning, then don’t blame this young master for going against your will."
Making up his mind, Gui Ying bit the tip of his middle finger and smeared his blood across the mirror’s surface.
The mirror absorbed the blood greedily the instant it came into contact with Gui Ying’s blood.
He waited until the mirror completely absorbed his blood, then used the remaining blood to draw a talisman on its surface.
When the talisman was complete, Gui Ying said calmly, "Break."
The moment his words fell, the blood talisman glowed. A second later, the miniature stellar formation changed color, turning bright red.
After the stars fully transformed, Gui Ying closed his eyes and formed another hand seal.
"Open!"
As he opened his eyes, his black pupils turned golden, glowing brightly as he stared into the red stellar formation.
At that instant, time seemed to freeze.
Just as Gui Ying’s gaze met another pair of golden eyes, the mirror shattered with a sharp crack, and the red stellar formation collapsed like broken glass.
Simultaneously, his pupils returned to their original black color.
Staring at the cracked mirror, Gui Ying fell into deep thought. After a brief silence, he stored the shattered mirror back into his spatial ring.
Rubbing his chin, he muttered, "Those golden eyes look familiar... Where has this young master seen them before?"
While he was searching his memories, the horse carriage suddenly came to a stop.
