Myriad Heavens: Who Let Him Into the Horror Movie?-Chapter 24 : The Cunning Evil Spirit

Chapter 24

Chapter 24: The Cunning Evil Spirit
“I’m the spellcaster. I know the state of the evil spirits I control, and I also know the state of the people under my curse. If I notice something wrong, I’ll stop it before something I don’t want to see happens.” Li Zhen’s tone was unpleasant.
After working tirelessly all night only to see such a result, how could he possibly speak to Master Danyang with any warmth?
The quick-witted Fatty Wong hurriedly pushed a chair behind the utterly exhausted Li Zhen.
He could tell as well—after running all the way here, Li Zhen was completely spent.
“Even if there’s no danger to life, what you’ve done at least harms her vital energy and could badly affect the child in her womb.” Master Danyang frowned. “Moreover, the resentment in the two evil spirits you’ve summoned is terrifying. I fear these two did not die naturally.”
Fatty Wong immediately explained, “Those are the two security guards who were killed by the evil spirit a few days ago. This way, it’s like giving them a chance to take revenge. I think they wouldn’t blame us.”
Cheung Kam-Keung’s throat moved as he stammered in shock, “It’s… it’s Uncle Hon and them?”
“Yeah.” Fatty Wong scratched his head. “I was targeted by something unclean before—almost got me killed.”
“I had no choice but to dig up Uncle Hon and the others to help.”
“They were killed by the evil spirit—they’d surely want to help. At least, they didn’t object…”
The latter part sounded more like a subconscious justification. After all, grave-digging was not a moral act.
“I see.” Master Danyang sighed. “The dead should rest in peace. Doing so only keeps them from finding that peace.”
Though that was what he said, his tone was far better than before. Clearly, his impression of Li Zhen had improved somewhat.
Fatty Wong muttered, “They hadn’t found peace to begin with.”
“Whether they’ve found peace or not isn’t what matters most.” Seated in the chair, Li Zhen supported his heavy head with one hand. “The real problem now is how to deal with the unclean thing inside the building.”
“That child will be born soon—and the evil spirit is waiting for that moment.”
“Originally, I had confined the spirit temporarily inside Cheung Kam-Keung’s wife, Siu Lan’s body—but you helped it escape.”
He turned his head, his bloodshot eyes landing on Siu Lan, who lay on the bed.
Under the white light, his face looked even more sinister than Siu Lan’s, who had just been possessed by the evil spirit.
If he had arrived first, that evil spirit would’ve been flayed even if not destroyed.
But the ones who arrived first were Cheung Kam-Keung and Master Danyang.
“This… was indeed my mistake.” Master Danyang shifted sideways, blocking Li Zhen’s view of Siu Lan.
Li Zhen lowered his head. “The only reason we can speak here safely right now is that the spirit is injured. Once it recovers, all of us will be in trouble.”
“What’s done is done. We can only think of another way. I’ll take responsibility for this matter—but this pregnant woman mustn’t be subjected to any more strain.” Master Danyang’s tone was firm.
“You think I’ll get a second chance?” Li Zhen’s expression grew wary. “The fact that you got here before us means it was manipulating things behind the scenes.”
Master Danyang froze, then suddenly turned to Cheung Kam-Keung. “You said earlier you received a call, that someone told you your wife was in danger, so you rushed home?”
Cheung Kam-Keung nodded uneasily. “Yes. I answered the call and heard those words—so I rushed back immediately.”
“Did you recognize the voice?”
“It sounded unfamiliar—like someone I’d never heard before.”
“So the evil spirit is that cunning?”
As they pieced together what had happened, everyone—Master Danyang, Fatty Wong, and the rest—felt a chill spread through their hearts.
Fatty Wong muttered blankly, “That evil spirit’s actually that clever? It realized something was wrong and got… got Ah Keung and Master Danyang here ahead of time?”
It seemed the entire incident had been orchestrated by the evil spirit from behind the scenes.
First, it tricked Cheung Kam-Keung into coming home. Then, it contacted Master Danyang.
Not only had this ruined Li Zhen’s plan, it had completely cut off any countermeasures he could’ve taken afterward.
Li Zhen had been using Siu Lan’s life as leverage to restrain the spirit within her body.
But now, with Master Danyang and Cheung Kam-Keung here, Li Zhen and Fatty Wong could do nothing.
Realizing that the spirit was not only vicious but also so deceitful, Fatty Wong shivered involuntarily.
“Master, what should we do?” Cheung Kam-Keung, holding Siu Lan, felt a deep sense of helplessness.
Master Danyang said gravely, “After fighting two… ghost entities, the evil spirit inside the building must be at its weakest. This is the best time to eliminate it.”
“However, for it to take such a risk and still insist on reincarnating through the womb—it shows its determination is immense. What comes next… will surely be a fierce battle.”
Li Zhen stared vacantly at Master Danyang, his voice heavy with exhaustion. “Does Master have a way to deal with that evil spirit?”
With his current mastery of the Head-Descending Curse, unless he worked through Siu Lan’s body, he truly had no effective means to counter that spirit.
Master Danyang nodded. “Though the spirit is terrifying, it cannot leave the building for now. That gives us a chance to act.”
Li Zhen reminded him, “We must act quickly. If we wait until it regains its ferocity, it’ll be coming for us—not the other way around.”
Master Danyang glanced at the sky. “I’ll return to check my records and prepare a few things immediately.”
Li Zhen, suppressing his dizziness, stood and walked toward the door. “I’ll be back before noon.”
He had been better off not sitting—after resting for a bit, the moment he stood, a rush of blood surged to his head, pounding violently at his temples.
Fatty Wong followed behind him.
But when Li Zhen stepped out of the room, Fatty Wong suddenly ran back and said to Master Danyang, “Don’t be fooled by how sinister this Master Li looks—he’s actually a good man. I don’t think he means any harm. His methods are just… a bit strange, and his temper’s not great.”
Master Danyang glanced toward the living room. “Where did you find such a Head-Descending practitioner?”
“I didn’t ‘find’ him.” Fatty Wong explained briefly. “I took leave last night and drove home. Just as I was leaving the building, I hit this master with my car. He said he wanted a lift—but it turned out not to be that simple…”
“Then that evil spirit came for me—it was terrifying! I almost died. If it weren’t for this master, I’d already be dead.”
He complained, “Master Danyang, didn’t you say the evil spirit wasn’t after me? I almost got killed! I’m not exaggerating.”
Having said that, he turned and ran after Li Zhen. “I’ll stick with Master Li, see if there’s anything I can help with. If something happens, contact me.”
Master Danyang and Cheung Kam-Keung watched Fatty Wong’s figure disappear from sight.
“Master…” Cheung Kam-Keung turned to him.
He had never been decisive—and in the face of such danger and complexity, he was utterly at a loss.
Master Danyang exhaled a heavy breath. “That man may be a Head-Descending practitioner, and he looks eerie—but his features are proper, and there’s no bloodlust around him. His hands haven’t been stained with the blood of the innocent.”
He looked toward Cheung Kam-Keung. “I’ll return here within two hours.”
“And I…”
“You’ll be safe for now. Your wife will be safe too. Since it wants to reincarnate through her womb, it won’t harm either of you.”
