Myriad Heavens: Who Let Him Into the Horror Movie?-Chapter 34 : Four-Fifths

Chapter 34

Chapter 34: Four-Fifths
Before the Six-Armed Demonic Statue stood the Red-Eyed Bat, which seemed to have undergone a slight change—the pair of eyes stained by Li Zhen’s blood had turned even more sinister and wicked.
The atmosphere in the room shifted accordingly.
The familiar gnawing sound echoed within the cramped space, making Li Zhen’s heart tighten.
This time, he clearly felt that the sound wasn’t only ringing in his mind—it was also sounding outside his body.
Li Zhen lifted the piece of beef on the altar.
The beef, which had previously been eaten by maggots by only a third, began to rot and decay rapidly before his eyes.
Countless maggots wriggled in and out of the meat.
In the blink of an eye, the part corroded by the maggots had spread to roughly four-fifths of the whole piece.
At this level, more than a dozen kinds of Head-Descending Curses could already be used.
This risk had been worth it.
He couldn’t wait any longer…
Li Zhen opened the blood bag that contained Master Danyang’s blood and dripped it, drop by drop, onto the body of the Red-Eyed Bat.
Whether it was an illusion or a real reaction, as he acted, Li Zhen could clearly feel the heavy, dragging pain in his abdomen intensifying, leaving him deeply uncomfortable.
If he delayed any longer, he didn’t know whether his sick body could still support him to finish the mission.
So he had to execute his plan as soon as possible.
As long as he temporarily refined himself into a half-human, half-corpse being through the “Corpse Curse,” he would be able to free himself from the torment of his terminal illness for quite some time.
The first stage of the “Corpse Curse” gradually dulled a person’s senses, including the sense of pain.
As a head-descending sorcerer, Li Zhen could prolong this process long enough to minimize the negative effects.
When his pancreatic cancer had been discovered, it was already at an advanced stage.
Having refused treatment, the doctor had warned him that he had, at most, half a year to live.
Even if Li Zhen had agreed to treatment, given the severity of his illness, he likely wouldn’t have survived a year.
But the “Corpse Curse” could at least let him live for several more years.
In such circumstances, no matter how severe the side effects were, Li Zhen could accept them.
The Red-Eyed Bat sensed the smell of blood and began to writhe restlessly.
With several sharp “screech-screech” cries, it started absorbing the blood on its body.
This creature had fallen into slumber because, after devouring a vengeful spirit, it needed to slowly undergo metamorphosis during hibernation.
The blood of Master Danyang could provide the essential catalyst for that metamorphosis, thus stimulating it to awaken faster.
By now, the Red-Eyed Bat had grown so large that even Li Zhen could barely grasp it with one hand. Its aura had also grown increasingly ferocious.
Even as its master, Li Zhen could feel a strong sense of oppression from its violent presence.
This creature truly was born rebellious...
According to the “Devourer of Ghosts” section in the manual, forcing the Red-Eyed Bat to evolve through consuming a vengeful spirit was considered an extremely dangerous method.
After devouring such a spirit, the Red-Eyed Bat could be affected by it, becoming even more savage—and in most cases, would attempt to turn against its master.
Even head-descending sorcerers called this method extreme, which showed how risky it truly was.
But Li Zhen didn’t have much choice.
Someone like Ma Gusu had practiced the Head-Descending Curse arts since childhood, taking decades to reach that level of cultivation.
Li Zhen, on the other hand, wished to command this dark power within a short time to extend his own life—how could he expect that without paying a price?
Setting down the blood, Li Zhen took out the box of corpse fluid.
This was another material he urgently needed.
Such material was extremely difficult to obtain in this world, so he had only been able to ask Fatty Wong to procure a small amount.
After a brief inspection, Li Zhen placed the foul-smelling corpse fluid on the altar.
Then he picked up the “Method of Spirit Preservation” written by Master Danyang.
There weren’t many words in Master Danyang’s writing—it wasn’t even enough to call it a proper booklet.
There were no complex Taoist concepts either.
Li Zhen spent about twenty minutes reading through it once.
As Master Danyang had said, it was a method of cultivating and nourishing the spirit, improving one’s mental and spiritual realm.
According to Master Danyang’s notes, there were three stages to this cultivation.
The first stage was to preserve and visualize the gods of the five organs.
Each organ corresponded to an invisible divine spirit—such as the Vermilion Bird—associated with its element. One was to use meditation to visualize the five organs transforming into divine light and gathering within the dantian.
The second stage was to preserve and visualize the True God of the Upper Purity.
The third was the highest stage, wherein the spirit could leave the body, travel the Celestial Realm of Upper Purity by thought, converse with true gods, and comprehend the Dao—this was known as “Divine Wandering of the Great Void, Unity with the True.”
What Master Danyang had written sounded rather mystical.
Li Zhen wasn’t sure whether this Method of Spirit Preservation truly possessed such wonders, or whether it could even be cultivated in this world—but the earlier parts about calming the mind and regulating breathing were indeed useful.
They would help him suppress violent impulses and keep the Red-Eyed Bat’s impending backlash under control.
Although Li Zhen could forcibly suppress the Red-Eyed Bat’s body, if he failed to suppress its will, the problem would never be solved completely—who knew when that rebellious creature might strike back?
Moreover, forcibly subduing it and grinding away its ferocity would be far too time-consuming.
Unless absolutely necessary, Li Zhen didn’t wish to resort to that.
For him, the path of Head-Descending Sorcery had never been an easy one.
This method could serve as a fine aid to his craft—he just didn’t know whether a head-descending sorcerer could cultivate it successfully.
After reading the cultivation method once more, Li Zhen picked up his phone and sent another text message to Fatty Wong.
When the Red-Eyed Bat finished “drinking” the blood on its body, Li Zhen added another layer of fresh blood.
As long as the blood didn’t rot or spoil, even if it coagulated, it would still nourish the Red-Eyed Bat.
Later, after Li Zhen finished his dinner, Fatty Wong arrived at his place in high spirits.
As soon as he saw Li Zhen, he exclaimed, “Damn, damn, damn! Don’t tell me that six-armed thing of yours actually worked?!”
“That bastard Wong Ka-Wing’s been suffering heart pains three or four times since noon. I heard he had another attack on my way here—hurt so bad he switched hospitals again! But they definitely won’t find anything wrong.”
“He’s been getting checked all day, and every major hospital says he’s perfectly healthy.”
Li Zhen smiled faintly.
Fatty Wong looked even more intrigued. He leaned in close and whispered, “That evil god you summoned really works?! Besides cursing people, can it do anything else? Like… make me rich?”
Li Zhen asked back, “Do you even need to get richer?”
Fatty Wong widened his eyes. “Of course! Who ever complains about having too much money?”
He circled around Li Zhen, rubbing his chin as he examined him with a puzzled look.
Li Zhen glanced back at him.
“So strange,” Fatty Wong said seriously, shaking his head. “Why do I feel like you’ve changed a lot? You’ve got this… eerie vibe about you. The moment I get close, I feel kinda cold.”
Li Zhen replied helplessly, “Did you forget I have a terminal illness? Do you really think someone dying of cancer would get healthier by the day?”
Fatty Wong pouted. “Oh, now you remember you’re sick? When I told you to get treatment, you wouldn’t go.”
He opened the box he brought and continued, “Everything you asked for is here. I didn’t add anything extra this time—just found someone to draw it exactly the way you wanted.”
