Nightmare Assault-Chapter 463: Lunch

Chapter 463: Lunch
There were a lot more empty rooms at the hospital than he thought. Zhao Ru opened the door, and Jiang Cheng saw a few men sitting around a table, playing cards. Based on their appearance, they should be the caregivers mentioned by Zhao Ru.
This room didn’t look like it was hospitable because the lighting was too good. Several large drying racks were placed near the window. They were drying clothes and white sheets.
While they were on the way, they passed by a room that looked like a washroom. The corridor was drenched.
Seeing Zhao Ru, one of the men stood up. He came over nervously. “Nurse Zhao, what are you doing here?”
“Where is Wu Gang?” Zhao Ru scanned the men but failed to find the person she was looking for.
“He went to handle the change of clothes for the patients,” The man answered. Once he finished, another man walked in the door. He looked normal with tanned skin. He looked around twenty with great muscles. Similar to the other man, he looked anxious when he saw Zhao Ru, “Nurse Zhao, you…”
“Wu Gang, have you been slacking off recently?”
“No.” Wu Gang widened his eyes innocently.
“Then, why haven’t you changed the clothes for the patient in Room 906?” Zhao Ru asked, “If this happens again, I’ll have to this.”
“Please done.” Wu Gang explained, “Nurse Zhao, you have to trust me. I change her clothes twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.”
“Have you done that today?”
“Yes.” Wu Gang swore. “I went with Brother Liu. You can ask him if you don’t believe me.”
“Then, why are her clothes still so dirty?”
Wu Gang shrugged and sighed, “Nurse Zhao, we can’t do anything about that. When the patient acts up, she might convulse and fall off the bed. Her clothes probably got dirtied then.” Then, Wu Gang remembered something. He ran off, but he returned less than a minute later. He had a patient’s garb with him. Jiang Cheng recognised it immediately. It was similar to the one worn by the woman. It looked like it had just been changed.
It had blue and white stripes with rough lining. It was rare. Wu Gang showed the spots on the clothes where dust had stained them. The sleeves were black as if someone had wiped the floor with them.
“Did she fall off the bed again?” Zhao Ru frowned.
“Yes.” Wu Gang sighed, “She suddenly acted up. What could we do? When we went there this morning, she was sleeping under the bed. We couldn’t possibly tie her to the bed, could we?” Wu Gang looked helpless.
After knowing the truth, Zhao Ru didn’t waste time. She reminded the caregivers to visit the woman more often and left with Jiang Cheng. She also warned them that playing cards was not allowed at the hospital.
“Wait. That woman… could still move?!” Jiang Cheng asked curiously. After they left the caregiver’s room, Jiang Cheng took over the medical tray. Zhao Ru turned at the corner and they returned to the fourth-floor corridor. “Yes…” Zhao Ru paused. “This is a recent development. She keeps falling to the ground and convulsing without reason. At first, I assumed she was triggered, but there was nothing that would stimulate her.” Zhao Ru sighed, “I have ed this to Director Qi. He told me that this was nothing. He only told me to keep an eye on her and make sure I inject her with the medicine daily.”
Jiang Cheng froze for a moment. Director Qi… Him again. However, Jiang Cheng didn’t show this on his face. He kept chatting with Zhao Ru, “Does Director Qi know this woman?”
“I’m not sure.” Zhao Ru rubbed her arms and answered, “Director Qi might look young, but he’s a senior at this hospital.” She turned and questioned, “Don’t you know him? You can ask him directly.”
“He is such a busy man. We have already troubled him greatly to get him to transfer the wards for us.” Jiang Cheng suddenly complained, “But who would have thought he’d arrange such dilapidated rooms for us.” 𝑅Â₦ŏ𝐁ĘṦ
“The rooms on the sixth floor have been abandoned for some time already.” Zhao Ru agreed, but she didn’t dare to complain about Director Qi. After all, the man could kick her out. “Perhaps he wants you and your friends to focus on recovery. The sixth floor is quiet, and normally no one will go there.”
“I think so too,” Jiang Cheng smiled.
When they returned to the nurse’s station, Zhao Ru was still alone. Zhao Ru claimed that there were a few more nurses, but they were downstairs. There were more sickbays downstairs, so they wouldn’t be coming up for no reason. She still had more tasks to do. Time passed quickly. Soon, it was eleven. Due to the rain, the sky was dim.
Jiang Cheng didn’t ask any more questions lest he rouse Zhao Ru’s suspicion. Instead, they had fun chatting about nothing. They chatted so happily that they didn’t notice the small group that was standing not far away. Weiwei and Du Feng glanced at the joyful Jiang Cheng before glancing at Lin Wan ‘Er. They realised Lin Wan ‘Er was just standing there; she didn’t look annoyed. It was like she was enjoying a show.
However, someone else was annoyed. “What is he doing?” Wang Changguo huffed, “We risked our lives to look for clues, and he has been here flirting with that girl?!”
“Maybe… His method is different from ours.” Yu Yu offered, “Maybe he wishes to get something from the nurse…”
Yu Yu stopped talking because they saw Jiang Cheng pull the nurse’s hand to rub it. At the same time, he looked excited.
Wang Changguo couldn’t stand this anymore. He strode over and knocked on the glass door. He was so heavy-handed that the glass trembled.
Seeing Wang Changguo’s darkened expression, Jiang Cheng wasn’t nervous. He had just opened Zhao Ru’s lunchbox. It had her lunch. She brought it from home. The dishes were simple. Jiang Cheng had no appetite, looking at them. Plus, due to the weather, the food was cold already.
Jiang Cheng closed the lid. He didn’t return it to Zhao Ru but held it in his hands. He stood up, looking at Zhao Ru with anticipation. “Can you give it to me? I wish to try a beauty’s cooking.”
