Chapter 21: Revenge?
LIAM
Shit went downhill after the guards appeared in the backyard. The first thing that reflected on their faces was:
’Why is the Supreme Commander and his assistant handcuffed together?’
As embarrassed as I was about the situation, Kian looked completely fine and nonchalant about it as if it didn’t even bother him. And the way this man is, maybe the situation actually didn’t bother him.
That asshole had a whole damn bundle of
talismans
with him. He sealed Crystal away with it in a jar. That man made me wonder if he was actually an imperial army commander or some kind of spirit medium. He then talked to the lord of the house and walked out with me with so much ease and poise that it almost made my jaw fall.
He didn’t talk to me as we rode his horse back to his castle. I am a little disappointed in myself for not being able to cut Kian’s throat down when I had the time. But I need Andreas Norlen. Oliver mentioned that the man had found out who Oliver was and started to blackmail him over leaking it. I need to talk to this Andreas fucking Norlen. But who knows if I will ever get the chance to hold my blade against Kian’s throat again.
The thought makes my shoulder droop.
Jennifer didn’t look all that pleased with me since I ran away this morning. But she didn’t voice it. At least I am back and I have a feeling they will have me in even tighter security wraps now.
But none of these are my concern right now. The problem is...
"I want to go to my room and sleep," I demand, pulling ferociously at the handcuff with my left wrist.
"And I don’t want to go to your room to sleep." Kian doesn’t budge; he lightly tugs at the handcuff, and I stumble toward him.
"This is absurd!" I bellow, "Just let me go! And we can sleep in peace. And this is stupid, whatever you are trying to pull with these handcuffs of yours."
"I am just trying to make sure that you are not running away." Kian starts to walk toward his room, dragging me along the blue carpeted floor since I wouldn’t go there healthily on my feet. "And we are still not even with that knife stun that you pulled at the last minute."
Anxiety swells inside my stomach as I try to cut off the subject, "We are not talking about that! Let me go! I don’t want to sleep with you!"
"I don’t care whether you want to sleep with me or not. I don’t give two fucks about it. But it is for damn sure that I am not letting you go even if you are dead. I will tie your bead body with me rather than letting you go." He continues to drag me with him as if he is using me to mop his castle with me.
"You are being ridiculous!" I thrash around madly, "This isn’t possible! You can’t do that!"
"Oh, you don’t want to see me try, Cherry." Kian abruptly stalls, his head turned to me and his mouth twitching up, forming a smirk.
A shiver dances down my spine but I stifle it. "Cherry?" I blink and quirk my brows. "What does that mean?"
Kian bents down before me, coming to my eye level, "You smell of fresh spring and cherry blossom. And your eyes and demeanor resemble it as well. Fresh, thriving, and beautiful. So Cherry."
"I have a name." I return, a frown taking place between my brows.
Though it is not my real name anyway.
"This is a nickname, Cherry." Kian suddenly grabs my bicep and pulls me to my feet, making me gasp softly. "Get used to it. The earlier the better."
I try to bicker with him some more but it seems like Kian has turned off as he strides to his room—the biggest one in this stone fortress. Kian pushes open large double doors that are seemingly of his bed chamber.
The room is
huge
. The room will be triple the room that I am staying in right now. The room is richly furnished with notch-quality furniture. There is a large window opposite the king-size bed. And a veranda at the right of the bed. There is a large elegant crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling and some other furniture. The room smells of leather and coffee beans. Rich, sweet, and alluring. But the room doesn’t bear any sign of personalization.
To think I have never been to this room before.
Suddenly, my face heats up, and my stomach starts to swirl.
"Ki— " Kian looks at me,"—H-Hey, let me go. Unlock this handcuff. I need to go."
"You need to go where?" Kian raises an eyebrow, amusement evident in the action.
"I need to pee!" My face is bright red, not that I care at the moment.
"Then pee," Kian replies simply.
"What the f...?" My face twitches, "I need to pee! I can’t do that here!"
"I am not unlocking your handcuff. And I am not going with you either." Kian drawls, "So you have to pee here."
Of course, the universe just has to fuck with me.
"Please." I am desperate now, "Let me go, or at least come with me."
"Okay fine." He answers to my surprise, "But you have to call my name."
So he noticed that I am avoiding calling him by his name...
"Do I have to do this?" I shift uncomfortably, trying to control the pressure at the pit of my stomach.
"If you want to pee then yes." Kian looks at me eagerly, almost dancing on his heels as he waits for me to spell out his name.
I dip my head lower as the flames of embarrassment blaze harder. "Please, Kian...let me pee."
As the words tumble out of my mouth, I am suddenly lifted off the ground on Kian’s shoulder as he bolts out of his room and down the hallway.
What the...?
