Chapter 35

Chapter 35 : Truth, Merit for the Ignored
“Empress of Austin, you dare to insult my daughter so brazenly in front of everyone, and now humiliate my granddaughter before all?”
Looking at the furious Grand Duke of Saitos, Ados Caesar, everyone lowered their heads, not daring to speak.
His towering, majestic figure made the Empress, Orion, kneel involuntarily in fear.
The soldiers nearby tried to intervene but were repelled by his piercing glare.
“This… Your Excellency, could there be some misunderstanding? Yiwen is my own daughter; how could she be related to your daughter…”
The Emperor of Austin, Miles Kelake, felt a lingering dread facing this unyielding war god but forced a calm smile to maintain his regal composure.
Normally, both sides would have found a way to de-escalate, but the Grand Duke’s gaze toward the Emperor burned with fury, as if laced with fire.
“Emperor, so it was you!”
Ados Caesar fiercely drew the treasured sword from his waist.
With one slash, the massive stone pillar behind the Emperor split in two.
Soldiers swarmed to surround the Grand Duke, but his overwhelming aura and murderous intent froze them in place.
“If I don’t get a reasonable explanation, tomorrow it will be your head that’s severed.”
The Grand Duke shot a glare at Miles, who was sweating profusely on his throne, then looked at Yiwen Kelake, held by soldiers, with heartache and guilt.
With one punch, he sent two soldiers flying and gently lifted Yiwen into his arms.
This battle-hardened elder trembled faintly.
Yiwen, in his embrace, turned her head aside but didn’t resist, quietly resting in the arms of this grandfather she had never met.
The two left the center of the hall in silence.
The shocked Empress remained kneeling on the ground, muttering incoherently, “Impossible, absolutely impossible…” until her maids helped her up, her expression still dazed.
In the garden of the Amethyst Palace, the red-haired man, Kyle, carefully bandaged the wounded Kafu.
Nearby, I, Loka, held the silver sword aloft, as if admiring a flawless work of art.
“Mr. Kafu, your wounds haven’t healed yet. Please avoid strenuous activity for now.”
“Thank you, Young Master Kyle. Who would’ve thought the boy who cried at the sight of blood back then would become the empire’s medic?”
The red-haired man called Kyle smiled. As the youngest son of the Grand Duke of Saitos, he couldn’t even bring himself to kill a frog.
Many whispered that the Caesar family would decline with this generation.
At such times, his elder sister would brandish the silver sword their father gave her, fiercely placing the blade at the throats of rumor-mongers until they knelt and begged for mercy.
“Listen well: Kyle will become a great man, and I will be the heir to the Caesar family, the new Grand Duchess of Saitos!”
Back then, the entire empire doubted a woman could inherit the Grand Duke’s title, but their father always took pride in her, boasting of having a perfect heir.
Sadly, the sister who once idolized their father took a path entirely different from his, leaving behind only a child who bore such a striking resemblance to her.
“Sorry, Young Master, I failed to protect the young lady. If the Grand Duke hadn’t arrived, I might not have even saved Her Highness…”
“Let’s end the sentimental act,” I interrupted, cutting into the touching master-servant reunion. I tossed the silver sword to Kyle.
Kyle caught it, smiled warmly, nodded, and tossed me a gleaming silver badge.
“This is the token of the Caesar family. I swear on my father’s honor to fulfill any one request of yours.”
“Pleasure doing business.”
I, Loka, casually leaped down from the high wall, strolling out the main gate with a swagger, grabbing the last bottle of milk on my way out.
Kyle could hardly believe it.
This girl, whom he’d only met once, appeared out of nowhere, bypassing layers of guards.
The mansion was surrounded by men—sent by the Emperor or some other enemy—watching the Grand Duke’s every move.
He could’ve dealt with them all, but they needed leverage.
A misstep could be costly, so he chose to bide his time.
When the girl vaulted into his room, she faced his drawn sword without a hint of panic, instead proposing a deal.
What a cunning little thing. Her composure and calm demeanor were like negotiating with an adult.
If, as she claimed, she was connected to his niece, all would be well.
But if she had ulterior motives, she’d be the most dangerous threat.
Meanwhile, I looked at the token in my hand—a badge forged from a spear and sword, worthy of the war-forged Caesar family.
Yet, when I faced the legendary Grand Duke of Saitos, his oppressive aura and battle-honed killing intent were overwhelming.
In my past life, I emerged from darkness and blood, making me all the more sensitive to such a warrior’s menace.
An ordinary person would likely collapse, limbs weak, under that pressure.
“You say you found my bloodline. What do you mean? What happened to my daughter, Cecilia?”
“Forgive my bluntness, but your daughter has passed away.”
I didn’t shy away from the cruel truth. The next second, the table before me was flung aside, and the Grand Duke’s killing intent erupted.
“Do you know I could crush your skull in an instant, you insolent brat?”
Facing that crushing pressure, I merely gazed at the devil-like figure before me.
Though his hair was gray, his physique remained formidable.
The deep scar by his eye was proof of his survival through death.
“But I know where your granddaughter is, and she’s in great danger—the Empress’s men are preventing you from meeting her.”
At the mention of the Empress, the Grand Duke reined in his anger, sat back down, and stared at me coldly.
I recounted Yiwen’s recent days and past, most of it gathered from sneaking into beds for intelligence, save for some rumors.
“Even if what you say is true, how can I trust the Sixth Princess is my granddaughter?”
“Even with that silver sword, it could be stolen or forged to deceive me.”
The silver sword was genuine, crafted under the Grand Duke’s supervision and given to his daughter.
How could he not know?
But faced with his beloved daughter’s death, he refused to accept the reality, especially since that lofty figure—the Emperor—abandoned her for power.
“Because Her Highness, like her mother, strives to become what the world refuses to believe in.”
