Rebirth Swapped Bride: Married to a Ruthless Cursed billionaire Book2-Chapter 198: Beauty isn’t feeling well

Chapter 198

Chapter 198: Beauty isn’t feeling well
Ever since Lucas assigned her this daunting task, Beauty’s dreams have been filled with sketches, and even her sleep-talking revolves around the story.
This made Lucas feel a pang of regret in his heart.
Had he known that this girl takes things so seriously, he wouldn’t have burdened her with such a heavy responsibility.
Although he believes that with her design talent and keen mind, she will surely create a work that satisfies him, he now feels sorry for his wife’s small frame.
As autumn arrives, the weather gradually cools down, and after several heavy rains, Beauty has caught a glorious cold.
After revising the drawings for the third time, her eyes could no longer stay open, and she fell asleep on the sofa before Lucas returned home.
She was wearing long silk loungewear, revealing her fair skin.
The door to the room was pushed open, and Lucas saw the scene he had witnessed almost every day for the past month.
The place was a mess, and the trash bin was overflowing with white paper, some crumpled into balls and others carefully outlined with pencil only to be crossed out.
His brows furrowed slightly.
Kicking away the waste paper on the floor, he strode forward and scooped the tired little figure on the sofa into his arms.
Seeing her cheeks flushed like ripe apples, he immediately placed his hand on her forehead and felt the burning heat.
"Damn it!
This girl has a fever!"
Lucas placed Beauty on the big bed and immediately picked up the phone to call the family doctor, his eyes dark with worry.
He moistened a towel with cool water and gently placed it on Beauty’s forehead to bring down her temperature.
He whispered softly in her ear, "Sweetheart, are you feeling better now?
Why didn’t you call me when you got a fever?"
At this moment, Beauty was so muddled by the fever that she didn’t even comprehend what Lucas was saying to her.
She just parted her lips and kept saying she was thirsty and wanted to drink water.
Lucas immediately poured a glass of water and helped Beauty sit up from the bed, placing a cushion behind her waist.
He gently shook her body, looking at her with concern as he said, "Honey, get up and have some water.
Don’t choke." Beauty remained groggy, and even though Lucas brought the cup to her lips, letting a little water flow into her mouth, she still coughed it all out.
"Having some water will make you feel a bit better, honey.
Be good..." Lucas patiently persuaded her to drink, but she kept her lips tightly shut, occasionally mumbling to herself.
She was speaking words he couldn’t understand.
So, Lucas took a mouthful of water and forced it into her mouth.
The cool liquid slid along her tongue and down her throat.
At that moment, Beauty seemed like she was clinging to a lifeline, eagerly seeking that hint of cool sweetness from his mouth.
Her lips no longer looked as dry.
When the family doctor entered with a medical kit and stethoscope, accompanied by an assistant whose face turned crimson with embarrassment upon seeing the scene, Lucas finally laid her back down on the bed, saying coldly, "She’s burning up and starting to talk nonsense."
His voice was icy, sending a shiver down the assistant’s spine as they quickly lowered their head under his intimidating glare.
The doctor checked Beauty’s temperature and listened to her lungs and heart with a stethoscope, furrowing his brows the whole time.
After completing all examinations, he respectfully ed to Lucas, "Sir, Madam’s headache and fever are caused by excessive internal heat.
She needs rest and should not return to work for a few days.
I’ll help reduce her fever now, and she’ll feel much better by tomorrow morning."
As he spoke, the doctor wrote a prescription for the nurse to retrieve the medication, carefully executing each step to avoid displeasing Lucas.
It wasn’t until 3 a.m. that Beauty’s fever subsided, and her body was no longer burning hot.
Lucas reached out to touch her forehead and finally let out a long sigh of relief.
One hand rubbed his temple, while the other held her slender wrist tightly.
Only then did he sleep peacefully.
The next day, the breeze gently blew.
When Beauty woke up, Lucas was standing in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window, facing the shimmering riverside.
Occasionally, a large ship would pass by, sounding its horn.
"Lucas."
Beauty sat up in bed, feeling a slight pain on the back of her hand.
Looking down, she noticed a small needle mark, with a bit of bruising around it.
Lucas quickly supported her shoulder and spoke in a low voice only the two of them could hear, "Did you know you had a fever of 39 degrees?"
"I knew, but I was feeling a bit dizzy, so I took some cold medicine."
Lucas’s expression immediately tensed, his sharp eyes narrowing: "You don’t need to go to work today.
I’ve already asked Lena to request leave for you."
"But I still have unfinished work, and the design drawings aren’t completed..."
Noticing a certain someone’s sharp gaze, Beauty swallowed back the words she hadn’t yet spoken.
She knew that once Lucas made a decision, it couldn’t be changed.
It was all her fault for working too hard these past few days without taking care of herself, or she wouldn’t have fallen ill at such a critical moment.
"Focus on getting well.
You still have more than a month left, right?
You won’t find any inspiration while you’re sick."
As Lucas spoke, he had already pressed the call button for the meal service, and soon the kitchen staff brought breakfast in on a dining cart.
Looking at the exquisite snacks and sweet pastries, she still had no appetite.
She only took a couple of sips of the porridge and insisted that Lucas have a few pieces of pastries and a small plate of Italian pasta, then had the food pushed away.
"Lucas, aren’t you going to the company today?"
After finishing her meal, Beauty stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling curved glass window, looking at the bright and colorful, leaf-scattered scene outside, and said softly.
Lucas turned around and pulled her into his arms, gently rubbing her soft, fair palm with his fingertips.
In a low voice, he said, "I’ll accompany you a little longer, then I have to go to the company.
I might have to work overtime these days and get home a bit late.
After I leave, you need to take good care of yourself and rest properly."
"I know... I’m not a three-year-old child.
I know my own body.
If I feel sleepy later, I’ll go to bed and take a nap.
If I get bored, I’ll read a book or go to the roof garden to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Is that okay?"
"You shouldn’t sit for too long, and definitely don’t fall asleep on the hanging chair up there, or you’ll catch a cold again.
Make sure to listen to the doctor and take your medicine..."
She had never realized Lucas could be such a worrywart.
She couldn’t help but find it amusing and a bit exasperating.
No matter what he said, she would smile and nod in agreement.
