Reborn After Betrayal: The Frail True Princess Decides to Give Up-Chapter 37 : Stay As Far Away As Possible

Chapter 37

Hearing Celitia's words, Kassy couldn't speak for quite some time.
Gradually, the tears that filled her eyes spilled over, sliding down Kassy's smooth cheeks.
"You're still the same, haven't changed at all... even at the risk of your life, you still protect those you care about..."
Celitia remained silent.
After a long while, she finally spoke heavily: "It's none of your concern."
"None of my concern? I used to be someone you cared about too..."
Kassy laughed bitterly, her voice increasingly choked with emotion. "Does that tenderness no longer belong to me? I already know I was wrong, I'll apologize however you want... but why won't you give me even the slightest chance for reconciliation?"
What a joke.
The fire of affection in her heart had long since burned to ashes, even the remaining embers had been thoroughly doused, as cold as the deep winter sea, with no possibility of being rekindled.
"Get out, now." Celitia closed her eyes, not even sparing a glance. "Don't make me repeat myself."
"Fine, fine, fine," Kassy sobbed, wiping away her tears, her expression utterly miserable. "I understand, I'll leave right now..."
She released the sealed space field and stepped back several paces, walking to the hospital room window before turning her head once more.
"But I won't give up... Master, I will definitely make you change your mind."
With that, Kassy opened the window, jumped out, and disappeared without a trace.
Celitia exhaled deeply. Only then did her heart, which had been pounding like a drum, begin to calm down.
She had just scared Kassy away with pure intimidation. Otherwise, with her current body—devoid of any battle energy or magic power, so weak she could barely lift a bucket of water—if Kassy had truly meant to harm Shanie, Celitia couldn't have stopped her.
Celitia understood that Kassy's final words were serious.
There would likely be many more troubles ahead.
Her head hurt so much...
Before she could think much longer, Celitia's head began to throb violently, as if a knife had been inserted through her temple, stirring her brain.
Perhaps Kassy's proximity had triggered some abnormal reaction again...
"...Ugh..."
Celitia clutched her head tightly, her face pale, lips purple, cold sweat sliding down her forehead, her body curled tightly into a ball.
The powerful aura that had intimidated the elf disappeared without a trace, and the girl trembled all over, like a fragile, helpless little animal.
Just then, someone gently knocked on the door from outside.
"Celitia?" Sophia's voice rang out. "Are you awake?"
Sophia had said she would go back for a nap, but with unresolved matters weighing on her mind, she couldn't sleep at all. After tossing and turning for a while, she simply got up.
Maybe she should check on Celitia, Sophia thought. If she was awake, they could talk; if not, she would simply keep her company.
Acting on this thought, when Sophia arrived near the hospital, she thought she saw a woman with light blue hair jumping out of a window.
...Huh?
What kind of decent person exits through a window instead of the door?!
Sophia rubbed her eyes in disbelief and looked more carefully, but like an illusion, the blue-haired woman vanished in the blink of an eye.
Calculating the position, Sophia realized that room was indeed Celitia's hospital room.
Suddenly anxious, Sophia hurried to the door of the hospital room, but fearing she might be mistaken, she forcibly suppressed her unease and politely knocked on the door.
However, receiving no response from inside, Sophia could no longer contain herself and abruptly pushed the door open.
As soon as the wooden door opened, Sophia saw the pale face of the girl on the bed, tightly clutching her head in obvious agony.
"Celitia? What's wrong??"
Sophia was terrified. She rushed to Celitia's side in one stride and reached out to feel the girl's forehead, only to find her hand covered in cold sweat.
"Shanie! What happened?"
Sophia looked up to call to Shanie, who was lying on the other bed, but Shanie was sound asleep and heard nothing.
"How can she sleep like a pig?!"
Sophia rarely cursed, but she did now as she shouted toward the doorway: "Mahee!!"
After waiting a moment with no response from Mahee either, Sophia rose abruptly, intending to find Sister Mahee.
"Sophia!"
Celitia suddenly reached out, clutching Sophia's hem tightly.
"I'm fine... no need to call Sister Mahee, just let me... recover a bit... I'll be okay..."
Due to the pain, Celitia gripped extremely tightly, her finger joints protruding, trembling constantly.
Sophia tugged hard at her hem and found that short of tearing off that piece of cloth, there was no way to break free from Celitia's grasp.
"You...!" Sophia said angrily. "Idiot! How can you be so reckless?!"
Despite her scolding, having experienced similar situations before, Sophia ultimately chose to trust her and sat down at Celitia's bedside.
"Where does it hurt? Your head?" Sophia asked softly. "Would you like me to massage it for you?"
As she spoke, Sophia reached out, her fingers moving in circles, gently massaging the girl's forehead, temples, and the back of her head.
"..."
Having exhausted her last bit of strength stopping Sophia just now, even though she wanted her to stay away, Celitia had no strength to refuse.
She could feel those hands, dexterous and soft, passing through her hair, gradually touching her scalp, like an electric current, creating ripples of tingling sensations.
The familiar lavender scent lingered at the tip of her nose. Gradually, Celitia truly felt the pain that had nearly split her head open slowly dissipate.
Finally feeling better, Celitia grabbed Sophia's wrist and moved her hand away from her head, a slightly nasal sound escaping her throat:
"I'm fine now."
Celitia's gesture to maintain distance was clear enough, but Sophia didn't notice it at all.
Sophia only saw that Celitia had indeed calmed down considerably, and immediately felt relieved from the bottom of her heart.
Once relaxed, Sophia began to complain continuously:
"Really, what on earth happened while I was gone? Shanie said she would stay here and look after you, but she's sleeping like a pig, completely unresponsive when I call her, and even Mahee is nowhere to be found!"
Celitia lowered her eyes.
It was her fault that Shanie had been dragged into trouble.
Fortunately, Kassy hadn't encountered Sophia when she left, otherwise...
"Why did you come back?"
Thinking of quickly distancing herself from Sophia to avoid involving her in trouble, Celitia's voice immediately grew cold.
Sophia was taken aback, unaccustomed to her coldness: "I... was a bit worried about you... so I came back to check..."
"Thanks to Your Highness's concern, I'm fine now," Celitia became increasingly distant. "I would appreciate it if Your Highness would leave promptly, so as not to waste your valuable time."
"What do you mean?" Sophia's eyes widened in disbelief. "Are you treating me like a plague again, blaming me for meddling in your affairs?"
"Yes," Celitia tiredly closed her eyes, avoiding looking at Sophia's hurt expression. "I've told you, we're not people from the same world. From now on, please stay as far away from me as possible."
