Chapter 223: What Papers?
If Julia’s outburst was out of line, Adam’s answer was even more egregious.
Adam openly admitted to fucking Xu Lin right before his father, as if it were just a normal thing to discuss with family.
"Go on, Xu Lin, tell them, no need to be shy," Adam says, looking at Xu Lin with a smile whose face is red from shyness, and looking down to avoid judgment.
But now that Adam has spoken, she begins talking.
"Master Adam has been very kind to me and treats me well, so I don’t mind servicing him when he needs me. I will happily give myself to Master Adam whenever he needs me," She says with a meek tone, but clear enough for everyone to hear.
Julia looks at Xu Lin with a frown. She didn’t expect Xu Lin would openly offer herself to Adam right before Jack.
Adam smirks, seeing the unhappy look on Julia’s face.
Julia, not satisfied with the progression, turns her head to look at Jack. "You say something," She says.
Jack doesn’t speak; he just looks at his son while Adam stares back at him.
Jack sees no fear in Adam’s eyes or any guilt for his actions. Jack sees that Adam doesn’t think he has done anything wrong.
Jack feels pride as he sees this version of his son. Julia might not agree with him, but Jack’s belief aligns with Adam’s action.
A man should take claim to whatever he desires, whether it is money, property, or women. And Adam’s doing all three.
He finally speaks
"I see nothing wrong with it. The girl is being provided food to eat, a bed to sleep, money for expenses, and a roof to live under. If she wishes to spread her legs for my son to repay his generosity, then let the girl be," Jack says.
Julia stares at Jack with an annoyed gaze. She didn’t expect Jack would be okay with his son doing whatever he pleases. She expected wrong.
Jack has always wanted Adam to become more of a man, and now Adam’s doing just that.
Feeling Julia’s annoyed gaze, Jack meets Julia’s eyes. "Why do you care so much? I don’t think his fucking the girl has increased your workload. Instead, her being here has given you more time to live a frivolous life," Jack says.
Julia’s frown deepens, her jaw clench tightly while she clenches her fists tightly. She has nothing to say to Jack.
"Hmph!" She scoffs and looks away from him and gets back to finishing her dinner.
Seeing this, Jack goes back to eating without a care in the world.
Adam smirks. ’She brought it upon herself,’ He thinks, smiling and looking at Xu Lin, who looks at him with a big smile on her face.
Hearing Jack’s words has made her very happy, as it’s almost similar to Jack approving of the relationship between her and Adam.
The rest of the dinner goes smoothly. Xu Lin continues to stand beside Adam, serving him with whatever he needs until the family is done eating.
As Jack cleans his plate of its contents, he looks at Adam once again and speaks. "The papers are ready," He says, getting Adam’s attention.
Even Julia looks up at him and wonders what he is talking about.
"Great, send it over to my lawyer, Clara. You know her, right?" Adam says.
Jack’s eyes flash with surprise for a second as he never thought he would hear that name again, but as he thinks about it, it does make sense for his son to hire Clara as a lawyer.
In fact, if not for the sour relationship between him and Clara, Jack would have liked to have her as his legal advisor as well.
"I will do that," He says and gets up from his chair and heads back to his room, calling it a day.
Julia watches her husband back as her mind races with guesses about what Jack and Adam just talked about.
’Papers? What kind? What were they talking about?’ she thinks and looks at Adam, who is savoring the food on his plate.
"What was that about?" She decides to ask him.
Adam looks at Julia and smirks. "What?" Adam questions, acting clueless.
"Jack said something about papers? What’s it about?" Julia asks as she feels something’s not right.
"Wouldn’t you like to know~" Adam says, smirking and returning to enjoying his food while Xu Lin continues to fill his plate with things he wants to eat.
Watching Adam ignore her and continue on with his dinner pisses off Julia even more. She wants to slap him, but doesn’t dare.
She then quickly finishes her dinner and leaves as well.
Amon watches her storm off with an amused smile on his face. He loves to see Julia spiral out of control because of his actions.

Julia returns to her room and sees Jack just in his underwear, about to enter the bathroom for his night shower.
"What was that about?" She immediately asks, not wanting to beat around the bush.
Jack looks at his wife and sees that she is not in a good mood.
"What?" He asks, feigning ignorance, just like Adam, as he looks through his wardrobe for fresh towels.
"You were talking about some papers, what’s it about?" Julia asks.
Jack looks back at Julia again. He can hear the desperation in her voice. ’Adam was right...’ Jack thinks.
Now that Adam has come clean to Jack about what he thinks of Julia. Jack no longer pretends not to see his wife’s obvious behavior.
She might be his wife, but her importance in his life holds no value. To him, what matters most is his legacy, and his legacy will also be attached to his son.
What Julia does has no impact whatsoever. So, really, even though she is his wife, she doesn’t matter.
’Adam was wise to be direct with me,’ Jack thinks as he grabs a fresh towel.
"Adam’s been investing around with a few startups. I just helped him with his finances," Jack says, lying straight through his teeth.
As Julia hears his answer, the turmoil inside her starts to settle down. ’I was being worried about nothing,’ she thinks.
Jack enters the bathroom, leaving Julia to ponder on her own.
’Things are getting messy, I need to act... But Adam, he is being very cautious and isn’t even present most of the time,’ Julia thinks, gritting her teeth.
’I think I need to talk to someone,’ She thinks and decides to speak with a certain someone who might be able to help her deal with her problem, whose name is Adam.

Done with dinner, Adam returns to his room and spends his time surfing the internet and catching up with the recent internet culture.
It’s not that he wants to fill his mind with rot; it’s just a way for him to be more socially adept.
In this day and age, even people who do not live on the internet are aware of the online culture and what happens in it. The internet is something a man of the modern world cannot ignore if he wants to be aware of what’s happening.
As he continues to surf the internet, figuring out what’s trending in pop culture, science, music, gaming, and politics, a message bubble pops up on the side of his screen.
A message through Fastgram.
He looks at the name of the sender and wonders what she wants.
It’s Brittney, Ruth’s friend. The girl who is a fastgram model and earns money by posting lewd pictures and videos of herself on the internet.
Adam opens the message bubble and reads the text "Heyyyyyy."
’To many Ys, ’ Adam thinks. This girl is clearly very interested in him the moment she found out that he is loaded, with money, and that thing between his legs.
’It’s been a while since I talked to her. I wonder what she wants?’ Adam thinks and decides to write her back.
"Didn’t expect a message from you," He writes, to which he gets a reply within seconds.
"Why? Can’t I text you?" She types. Anyone with a brain cell can see she is coming at Adam with a flirtatious tone. Well, it’s not a surprise with how their last conversation ended.
The girl literally sent Adam a personal picture just for Adam, something only meant for him.
"Sure, you can. So, what’s the occasion?" Adam asks.
"Nothing~ I was feeling bored and couldn’t help but think about you~" She writes.
Adam smirks.
"Why would you think about me?" Adam asks.
"I couldn’t help myself. You have been on my mind for a while now. Especially with how much Ruth talks about you~" She says.
"I see. What does Ruth talk about me?" Adam asks.
"Well, she can’t stop going on and on about how you are this amazing guy and how great a lover you are and how obsessed she is about you. Hearing her speak so highly of you, I couldn’t help but get jealous~," She types.
"Jealous? Jealous of whom?" Adam asks.
"Ruth... Sometimes I wish I had a lover like you~" Brittney says.
Adam smirks. The girl is not beating around the bush about her desire. Even though she is not being direct, she is telling Adam what she wants.
"Hmm, but don’t you already have a boyfriend. Brock. I think he’s a fine dude. Big and popular. What else do you need?" Adam asks.
"Ugh, Brock’s no longer the same guy he was when we started dating. The only thing he talks about now is going to the gym and building muscles.
We haven’t been intimate with each other for a while now. So when I hear Ruth talk about how great you are in bed. I can’t help but feel envious of her." She says.
She is already building a story for Adam to sympathise with, trying to build a rapport so that they can become closer by sharing her frustration.
Adam, of course, sees right through it. It’s now up to him whether to take advantage of her or not
