Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 458: A Deadly Scheme and A Dangerous Crisis
Chapter 458: A Deadly Scheme and A Dangerous Crisis
Third Person’s POV
He could clearly tell that Ethan was still only a rank-two being and was so young, yet the power he was displaying far surpassed what someone at that realm should ever possess.
He had never seen such a talent with such norm defying strength.
Each movement of his, each strike he unleashed, carried a frightening level of precision, lethality, and confidence that defied his age and realm strength by all means.
His thin eyes narrowed as the chain of events he had carefully and subtly planned since the moment Ethan had clashed with Jack Wilds now wavered in his mind.
He had begun scheming the instant he had seen those dark wings of his, as he had recognized at once that Ethan possessed an extraordinarily rare and dangerous affinity for the element of darkness.
Yet even after being pushed to this extreme, Ethan had still not revealed his true dark spells, not yet, and that unsettled him, as witnessing that was his goal.
The gray-haired deacon knew that this was his only real opportunity, as once the dust settled, that mysterious headmistress of the sanctum would almost certainly no longer tolerate his presence and actions.
He would be forced to flee the academy while abandoning everything he had worked for here.
But ever since the moment he had laid eyes on Ethan’s dark wings, he had understood something crucial.
This boy was the key, the key to completing the long-term mission his master had entrusted to him.
If he succeeded here, his time in this hellish academy would finally come to an end.
He would be free from the exhausting burden of playing the role of a spy in this chaotic, hostile place, a place where finding allies was almost nonexistent due to his top secret mission, and enemies lurked everywhere.
And for that... he was willing to gamble everything.
He knew that the time he had to confirm his suspicions was extremely short, because that fearsome and mysterious headmistress would soon see through this farce unfolding in the square.
In truth, he was already wondering why she had not yet sent someone to intervene and put a stop to this escalating chaos that he had carefully engineered, but he did not care anymore as the goal for which he had waited so much was finally within reach, and everything else had become irrelevant.
As his resolve hardened, the decisive clash between Ethan and the earth demon reached its peak.
Ethan flew upward and hovered calmly in the air with his posture relaxed.
Seeing his composure, even he was impressed with the talent and battle skills of this young man, and it made him even more sure of his decision.
As Ethan was about to end the fight with a final decisive blow, the thin, gray haired deacon with the deathly eyes finally decided that it was time.
In a single breath, he vanished in a gust of wind and reappeared high in the sky while being concealed behind a drifting gray cloud.
Such was his skill and strength that no one in the crowd noticed his disappearance or sudden arrival above them or was it...
Unknown to him, the dark haired young man in the centre of the royal dark clan of the Abssyal Dominion suddenly looked away from the fight that had turned boring in his eyes as he had witnessed something more interesting.
And while every pair of eyes was locked on the battlefield below, he was looking at the place where that thin, gray haired deacon had hidden in the sky.
He was staring at him with such intensity that the thin gray eyes deacon should have felt his gaze, if one considered the strength of his soul sense, but he was completely oblivious that his ploy had been exposed.
And even though the dark haired young demon had discovered him, he didn’t alert anybody and continued to look at everything with interest as he wondered about what surprises Ethan would give him the moment that secretive deacon would attack.
While such things were running in the dark, Lucy finally released a shaky breath of relief when she saw Ethan dodge the earth demon’s last desperate strike.
Her heart had nearly stopped when she had seen him slip earlier under the gravity spell of the earth demon, leaving him open to his killing blow, and even Virelle had tensed at that moment, her fingers clenched tightly as she had struggled to remain composed.
Velcy, however, stood strangely calm, her scarred face unreadable as she continued to stare at Ethan without blinking.
It was then that it finally happened.
Their eyes widened in horror as a sharp gray spire suddenly pierced Ethan’s body from nowhere, and before they could even process what they had seen, another spike shot forward, aiming directly for his neck.
This time, a gray blur was visible for a split second as it streaked through the air with deadly accuracy and making almost no sound, making them realize how powerful and deadly this attack was.
Their hearts tightened in terror, and their breath caught in their throats, but Ethan narrowly dodged the second one.
His wings vibrated wildly, and he vanished from his position in a blur of dark motion.
As he reappeared again and again in different places, while dodging the relentless attacks, it looked almost as though he were teleporting chaotically through the sky.
Seeing such a sudden reversal and the appearance of a new invisible player, the spectators were both amazed and horrified.
Just moments ago, Ethan had been utterly dominant, overwhelming the earth demon with ease with his powerful, flashy and destructive attacks, but now he was being hunted like prey by an unseen enemy.
Even the earth demon, who had resolved himself to pain and defeat at Ethan’s hands, finally steadied himself and stared upward in disbelief as he watched Ethan struggle.
But that disbelief soon turned into joy at being saved out of the pain and humiliation of defeat and that joy soon twisted into ugly satisfaction.
