Seventies Sweetheart: From Breakup to Billionaire-Chapter 224: I Just Like Him

Chapter 224

Chapter 224: Chapter 224: I Just Like Him
So Lin Xiang plans to take a look around the neighborhood tomorrow.
Either settle the house-buying issue, or start a small business—anything to avoid idleness.
The situation with Lin Yun isn’t severe enough to require round-the-clock care; visiting him twice a day with Mrs. Lin for chats is sufficient.
Thus, the next morning, Lin Xiang didn’t go to the hospital.
Mrs. Lin, after having breakfast in the cafeteria, brought a bowl of porridge and two buns for Lin Yun.
Lin Yun was sitting on the bed, glancing several times towards the door.
Mrs. Lin casually stuffed a bun into his mouth, "Don’t look for her, Niuniu isn’t coming today."
"Is she not feeling well?" Lin Yun asked instinctively, "Mom, just leave the food here and go back to the guesthouse for a rest. I can return the bowls to the cafeteria myself after eating."
Mrs. Lin, having slept well the day before, didn’t feel tired and declined Lin Yun’s suggestion, "I’ll stay with you. Otherwise, people might say we family members don’t care enough about you."
Mrs. Lin’s attitude was firm, so Lin Yun didn’t persist. He lowered his head and started eating. But from an angle Mrs. Lin couldn’t see, he had a slight smile at the corner of his mouth.
After Lin Yun finished eating, Mrs. Lin cleaned up the dishes and took them to the cafeteria.
As soon as she left, Jiang Chao’an and Jiang Chaoxin entered the ward.
Jiang Chaoxin was holding a fruit basket. Upon entering, she placed the basket at the bedside and quietly retreated beside her brother without saying a word.
Seeing her looking so sad, Jiang Chao’an sighed heavily and tried to reason with Lin Yun.
"Lin Yun, ever since you were hospitalized due to your injury, my sister has been taking care of you. Even if she hasn’t done anything remarkable, her efforts deserve recognition. You shouldn’t have said those harsh words to her."
"My sister is the apple of our Jiang Family’s eye. She’s twenty years old now, and no one in our family has ever lost their temper with her."
Jiang Chao’an’s words suggested heavily that Lin Yun was being unreasonable.
Lin Yun raised his eyes, which were cold and indifferent, a stark contrast to the gentle demeanor he showed Mrs. Lin.
Ever since joining the military under Cheng Jianping’s guidance, Lin Yun had been on several missions, all risking life and limb. He was already far from the reticent man he was during his time with the Li Hua Team.
Compared to someone like Jiang Chao’an, who joined the military based on family connections but never engaged in frontline combat, Lin Yun possessed an air of authority that was unmatched.
"First, I never said I wanted Comrade Jiang Chaoxin to take care of me. On the contrary, if the news of a female comrade repeatedly entering my ward without permission were to spread, can you imagine what kind of impact it would have on my reputation?"
Jiang Chao’an: "?"
"I mean, you’re a male comrade; how can you still care about that!"
Lin Yun gave him a sidelong glance, "Do male comrades not need to care about their reputation? Even though I’m currently single, I’ll eventually have a partner. If she finds out about this and gets upset with me, what then?"
"But..."
Lin Yun ignored Jiang Chao’an and continued, "Secondly, although I hesitate to mention it, I’m Comrade Jiang Chaoxin’s lifesaver. My injuries were sustained while saving her. There’s no dispute about that, right?"
"None, but..."
"Finally, aside from Comrade Jiang Chaoxin entering my room without my consent, I have not spoken a single harsh word to her. I understand she intends to repay me by caring for me, but this care is not something I need, and it has already become a burden to me."
"Therefore, I hope from now on, Comrade Jiang Chaoxin refrains from visiting me in the hospital."
"I saved you as part of my duty. Even if it wasn’t you, I would have unhesitatingly done the same for anyone in that situation."
Jiang Chaoxin didn’t speak; she just continued to shed tears silently.
Jiang Chao’an couldn’t stand seeing Lin Yun bully his sister, yet he couldn’t deny that Lin Yun had a point. He had no choice but to swallow his anger and walk off with Jiang Chaoxin.
In the hospital corridor, Jiang Chaoxin sobbed and asked Jiang Chao’an, "Brother, do you think Lin Yun really dislikes me?"
"He’s just a blockhead when it comes to emotions; don’t mind him. If he can’t appreciate your kindness, it’s his own loss!"
"But I still fancy Lin Yun." Jiang Chaoxin lightly tapped the floor with her toe, "Even though he hasn’t been promoted yet, I believe he has a bright future and will definitely rise to a high position. Don’t forget, Chairman Cheng is his uncle."
The Jiang Family also had some influence, though slightly lesser than the Cheng Family, but still notable in their circle.
So the siblings were aware of Lin Yun’s true situation.
From Jiang Chao’an’s perspective, the Cheng Family was like a den of dragons and tigers, best left alone. But it was rare for his sister to take a liking to a male comrade. Aside from a less favorable family background, there wasn’t much to criticize about Lin Yun, so the Jiang Family acquiesced.
But who knew Lin Yun would be such a tough nut to crack.
"Brother, I don’t care; I won’t marry anyone but him!"
"Alright, alright, I get it. I’ll go talk to Lin Yun properly later. Someone as outstanding as you is more than enough to match him. Let’s head home for now. You’d better avoid the hospital for a while. Look at you, you’ve gotten much thinner over this period."
As Mrs. Lin returned from the cafeteria, she happened to overhear the siblings’ conversation and relayed it to Lin Yun upon returning to the ward.
"In short, if you start dating her, don’t come flaunting in front of me later!"
She wasn’t about to take in someone with such a high profile as a daughter-in-law!
With a smile in his eyes, Lin Yun reassured, "I have no special feelings towards Jiang Chaoxin, and I definitely won’t develop further with her. Besides, I’ll leave my future partner choices to your discretion."
Marriage itself wasn’t significant to Lin Yun, but his wife had to be someone Mrs. Lin approved of.
Meanwhile, after asking for directions, Lin Xiang had already arrived near Huaqing University.
She was confident that she could get into Huaqing University based on her upcoming college entrance exam results, so she came to familiarize herself with the environment beforehand.
There was a bus route near Huaqing University that also serviced several nearby universities, and it provided direct access to the city center.
Huaqing University, among these institutions, boasted the largest campus, with the bus route containing two stops within.
Surrounding Huaqing University were numerous residential areas, so it couldn’t be considered remote.
Lin Xiang spent a small sum of money to find the neighborhood’s "Master Insight."
"Can you help me find out if there are any houses for sale near Huaqing University? A courtyard house would be even better."
The "Master Insight," named Qian Cheng, clapped his hands upon hearing this from Lin Xiang, "You’re asking the right person about buying a house!"
