Seventies Sweetheart: From Breakup to Billionaire-Chapter 225: Two-Story Western-Style House

Chapter 225

Chapter 225: Chapter 225: Two-Story Western-Style House
"Nobody knows more about the local housing situation than I do! But as for the price..."
"Let’s not talk about the price for now. I need to see the house first and then compare the prices. If it’s worth it, I don’t mind if the price is a bit higher."
Currently, Lin Xiang only has just over twenty thousand yuan on her. She doesn’t have a deep understanding of Beijing’s situation and doesn’t know if twenty thousand yuan can buy a courtyard house.
But when you’re out and about, you create your own persona; you can’t show fear before even buying a house, otherwise, how do you expect to snag a good deal on a house?
Qian Cheng continued, "We need to be clear in advance: whether you buy a house or not, you have to pay me a service fee for showing you houses. It’s blazing hot, and if I show you a house, it’s a five yuan service fee, not too expensive, right?"
Five yuan?
Service fee?
Lin Xiang couldn’t help but be taken aback. This was indeed Beijing; she might not know how money comes, but she sure knows how it goes!
"Would you deliberately take me to see bad houses just to earn this service fee?"
Qian Cheng patted his chest and assured Lin Xiang, "Each house counts only if you spend more than five minutes inside. If you just take a look and leave, it means you’re not satisfied with the house, and I definitely won’t charge you a service fee."
Lin Xiang had no objections now.
Compared to mooching, she preferred clear transactions.
Qian Cheng took Lin Xiang to the first house near the West Gate of Huaqing University.
"Huaqing University has a vast campus, with gates to the east, west, south, and north. The west gate is closer to the dorm buildings. After school, students love to leave through the west gate, so this area has relatively more foot traffic."
Qian Cheng briefly explained the situation of Huaqing University to Lin Xiang, and as they talked, they arrived at the West Gate of Huaqing University.
Since it was still summer vacation, there weren’t many people in school, so it felt somewhat quiet.
The house near the West Gate was a three-story small building.
Although it was said to be three stories, it technically only had two floors of proper living space, with the third being an attic that had an open-air balcony. The house resembled the style of a small villa from Hu Province.
Standing outside, the house didn’t seem large.
Entering the house confirmed that it wasn’t very big.
The courtyard was about fifteen or sixteen square meters. The previous owner seemed to have loved life, having planted many flowers and plants, with a wooden table and a few solid wooden chairs. Sitting here in summer, enjoying the breeze, couldn’t be more comfortable.
Walking from the small courtyard inside led to the house.
The first floor contained the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a guest bedroom.
The guest bedroom wasn’t very spacious; after adding a roughly one and a half meter bed and a table, there wasn’t much space left.
However, the guest bedroom had a large window facing the courtyard full of flowers and birds, providing plenty of light and making it feel not the least bit cramped, making it surprisingly comfortable to stay in.
Exiting the guest bedroom, there was the kitchen, which was very spacious with all the pots, pans, and utensils.
Exiting the kitchen and going up the stairs led to the second floor.
The layout of the second floor was also quite square, with a total of three rooms, especially the master bedroom, which was particularly large, taking up nearly thirty square meters.
The master bedroom had a bed and a completely solid wood wardrobe, with a lot of empty space left. If one moved in, they could add more furniture as they pleased.
The two secondary bedrooms were neither too small nor too large, larger than the guest bedroom and able to fit a wardrobe.
There was a bathroom on the second floor corresponding to the location of the first-floor bathroom.
Further up the stairs led to the attic.
The attic was filled with miscellaneous items and hadn’t yet been tidied up.
The layout and functionality of this house were somewhat similar to modern apartment buildings, and though not very large, it was quite convenient to live in.
The most important thing was that this place was really close to the West Gate; walking back to the dorm wouldn’t take more than fifteen minutes.
If the school didn’t require compulsory dormitory living, Lin Xiang could come back to sleep after class every day, how delightful!
Lin Xiang had already labeled this house as satisfactory but showed no sign of it, pointing out many flaws to Qian Cheng.
"This house has been around for a while, hasn’t it?"
"Yes, it has about fifty or sixty years of history."
"I noticed some of the walls and pillars are already aging. I don’t even know if this house could collapse."
"Absolutely not. If you buy this house and give it a slight renovation, living in it wouldn’t be any different from a new house, very comfortable."
"No matter how much you renovate the old, it can never become new." Lin Xiang criticized before asking, "How much do they plan to sell this house for?"
Qian Cheng perked up upon hearing this and detailed the house situation to Lin Xiang.
"This house was passed down from the previous owner’s ancestors. The couple had three sons, and each son had two or three kids of their own. Such a small courtyard couldn’t house the whole family."
"The old couple was used to living in the extremely spacious master bedroom on the second floor, but once the children were married, they were forced to live in the guest bedroom on the first floor. Originally a storage room, it was barely fixed up enough to accommodate people. Though there were three rooms on the second floor, no son or daughter-in-law found it suitable to live in the master bedroom, leading to frequent family quarrels."
"So the couple decided to sell the house, using the money from the sale to support their three sons, leaving it up to them whether to rent or buy a house elsewhere."’, Lin Xiang listened to Qian Cheng’s explanation and then spoke softly, "So, how much is this house priced at?"
Qian Cheng rubbed his fingers, "Seven thousand yuan."
Lin Xiang turned and started to walk out.
Don’t think that just because she hasn’t lived in the ’70s, she doesn’t know the housing market!
A standard courtyard house isn’t even ten thousand yuan, and this broken courtyard still costs seven thousand yuan?
The landlord could practically be robbing, yet they’re offering her a house instead?
It’s not that she couldn’t afford it, but it simply wasn’t worth it.
"Hey, comrade, don’t go! We can still negotiate on the price!"
Standing in the courtyard, Lin Xiang paused, "This house is just so-so, and I’m not particularly fond of it. The only advantage is that it’s close to the West Gate, but that’s not much use to me."
"Yes, yes, being close to the West Gate of Huaqing University is this house’s biggest advantage."
This was also the reason the previous owner raised the price.
But the issue is, being close to the West Gate, the only people it attracts are students from Huaqing University, yet in reality, how many Huaqing University students can afford to buy this house?
The families that can afford it also have properties in the main districts of Beijing; who would look down on this place?
So, there is ample room to haggle over the price.
"How about six thousand yuan?" Qian Cheng cautiously asked Lin Xiang.
