Chapter 180: Chapter 180 Match Up
The girls were in front, and two knights walked behind them. All the girls were present, even the one who had lost their battle.
Soon, the arena was in sight, and the noble families and the Queen were already there as the ten walked forward.
All ten of them stepped into the arena and bowed to the Queen before the other families. Before the girls who had already battled moved to the side, where they sat down. This time, Roman could see Amelia and Anya seated at the far corner, watching and waving as soon as they locked eyes with him.
The announcer stepped up once again bowing to the Queen, "Today, we’ll hold two more matches, and the final battle of the first round will be concluded tomorrow"
"The first match today, Princess Aurelia vs..." The announcer paused and turned towards Roman, a tiny smirk formed on his face as he already knew what was going to happen.
In that tiny moment, he had already prepared himself, and then she spoke.
"Princess Aurelia vs Clara Moonveil" The announcer completed the sentence.
Roman looked at the girl named Clara, and it felt like the life had been drawn out of her; he could see it in her face. She had already given up, and with good reason, because there was just no way she was beating Aurelia.
’I think her magic type is elemental, flames just like me, and Aurelia’s armor is definitely flames resistant, and why the hell did the announcer look at me like that’
"The second match is between Mira EverHeart and Reina"
Both of the girls turned towards themselves at the same time. It was going to be a summoner battle, but there was something else. Now, Roman knew his opponents tomorrow.
Only both of them were left, Roman and Reena Whitestone, and Roman had seen her fight, so he knew what magic type she was.
She was an arcane mage, and even though he hadn’t seen the full scope of her power, he knew for sure she wasn’t going to beat him.
With that, both the announcer and all the students in the arena walked out, leaving Clara and Aurelia in the arena, but before the battle started, Aurelia walked to the side where a Royal guard had already placed her armor set earlier, which was on top of a table.
Roman had seen Aurelia in armor before when dueling in the academy, but this time it felt different.
She also had it yesterday, but she didn’t take part in yesterday’s battle, so she took it back to the room, but this time she wore her set.
First came the chest piece, a light metal plate that covered the front and back but left her waist and sides free so she could move easily.
Next, she strapped on the shoulder guards, small curved plates that weren’t heavy but gave her upper body some protection.
Then came the arm pieces that covered her upper arms, leaving her forearms bare so she could still swing her sword fast.
Finally, she strapped armor to her lower legs, from her knees down to her boots, leaving her thighs uncovered. The whole set wasn’t thick or bulky like the Royal knights wore; this was made for speed. It would make her light and quick.
Her long silver hair flowed freely behind her as she adjusted the straps, and then strapped a small wooden shield to her left arm before picking up her sword.
As she wore her armor, Clara walked towards the announcer.
"Isn’t that cheating, why does she get to wear armor when others can’t?" Clara asked.
"Who told you that, you can wear armor if you like? Aurelia is an enchanter, and her armor is regular armor already checked by a mage. As long as she does the enchantment by herself, then it’s okay to use." The announcer replied.
"So let’s say I get a crystal that replenishes Mana, am I free to use that?" Clara asked.
"Armor and sword are extensions of some mages, and in real battle, they have them by their side, why would you take an object that replenishes Mana, is that an extension of yourself, so your Mana is so low you can’t help but use a crystal, then maybe you shouldn’t be competing in this tournament"
"I’m just asking," Clara sneered as she walked back into the arena, where Aurelia was already standing and muttering some words; she had already begun enchanting her equipment.
If Clara weren’t in front of a crowd including the Queen and her family, she would have forfeited the match because in her mind, she had already lost.
The same thing happened again as four mages in charge of the barrier stepped forward, first wrapping both of them in barriers before covering the arena.
Both of them made their way to the other sides, leaving a big gap in the middle of the arena. Even though Aurelia was at a disadvantage with the huge gap, she wasn’t worried.
"Are you ready?" The announcer asked, and both of the girls nodded their heads.
"Begin"
As soon as the announcer called it, Clara’s hands were already stretched forward as she thought Aurelia would dash towards her once the battle started, but no, Aurelia was walking slowly towards her.
Even Roman had no idea why she was doing that, he was sure she wasn’t afraid of Clara’s flame magic, but maybe she was wary of a particular spell Clara had.
Clara saw this and took advantage of it as she fired her first spell.
Two fireballs were shot towards Aurelia, who used her speed to dodge both of them, now advancing even faster. It seems Aurelia wasn’t wary; she was just observing her opponent like she would do in a real battle.
Clara noticed this too, and suddenly she began moving forward too. She wasn’t a close combat fighter, but she was sure of something: if the fight dragged on, she would be at a disadvantage.
