SSS-Ranked Skill in a New Filthy World-Chapter 181 Aurelia vs Clara [Part 1]

Chapter 181

Chapter 181: Chapter 181 Aurelia vs Clara [Part 1]
Clara began moving forward. She wasn’t a close combat fighter, but she was sure of something: if the fight dragged on, she would be at a disadvantage against Aurelia.
She had to fight smart and quickly. Aurelia doesn’t run the risk of running out of magic, as she doesn’t use much and is of Royal blood, but Clara has powerful magic that could potentially drain her Mana, but also give her the win.
Clara’s steps quickened as she marched toward Aurelia.
The crowd shifted in their seats, murmurs rising even among the girls. Closing the distance to Aurelia was like digging your own grave, so they all wondered what Clara was doing.
She stopped after closing the distance a little bit but Aurelia was still coming closer. Clara did this for a reason, while she had the advantage from distance, her spells weren’t the fastest, and she had seen Aurelia speed.
If she continued this way, Aurelia would end up dodging her spells, and she would continue wasting Mana, so she closed the distance a little t increase her chances of hitting.
Clara stretched out her right hand, mana swirling violently at her palm as she prepared her second spell.
A glowing sphere of flames not a fireball, slightly blue, was formed, and Aurelia stopped preparing for the attack.
She fired it straight at Aurelia, who raised her shield and tilted her body sideways. Even though her shield was wooden, she wasn’t worried in the slightest.
The flame struck the shield, and sparks burst outward, the shockwave kicking dust into the air.
The barrier around Aurelia shimmered faintly, absorbing some of the excess impact, but she didn’t budge an inch.
Roman leaned forward slightly where he stood with the others. "Damn that...wasn’t weak, what type of flame spell was that"
His eyes narrowed as Clara conjured another spell.
Clara put one foot forward, chanting under her breath, creating three flaming arrows in front of her hands.
She shot them one after another.
Aurelia sidestepped to dodge the first, raised her shield against the second, and then tilted her sword upward, slicing through the third like it was nothing.
The sword in her hand shimmered slightly, a sign that it was already enchanted.
"She’s not even flinching," Roman muttered, but his eyes moved to Clara.
’Still, this girl...She’s actually fighting, at the start of the fight I thought she would try a little and give up, but the look on her face’
Clara’s jaw tightened. She slammed both of her hands to the ground creating a small wave of flames, the wave rushing toward Aurelia like a tiny storm.
But Aurelia wasn’t fazed. She whispered a few words under her breath, her free hand brushing across the surface of her armor. The chestplate glowed faintly, she was adding to her enchantment.
When the fire wave slammed into her, the silver glow rippled, holding firm. Aurelia pushed forward, each step steady, her shield raised against the storm. She looked like a knight walking through fire without fear.
Clara’s lips pulled back as sweat formed at her temples. Her wave of flames kept rushing, but Aurelia didn’t stop.
"Damn it!" Clara hissed, pulling her hands free from the ground.
The Queen, from where she sat, turned towards Evelyn and Victoria, "Is there a strategy Aurelia is following and not attacking?"
"Close combat mages like Aurelia have a better chance of winning when they assess their opponents’ abilities first instead of charging in blindly," Evelyn replied.
"The other girls could have a spell, Aurelia is wary of, that’s another way to look at it," Victoria also replied, and the Queen nodded and went back to watching.
Once again Clara raised her hand up, conjuring a whip of fire that snapped forward, aiming for Aurelia.
The flame whip cracked against Aurelia’s shield with a loud snap, sparks bursting. Aurelia twisted her wrist, pushing the whip aside, before cutting it short with her sword.
Clara didn’t stop. She yanked her arm back, the whip stretching and lashing again, this time aiming for Aurelia’s exposed side. The crowd was watching closely; if it landed, it could drain her barrier.
But Aurelia was faster. She ducked low, the fire grazing past her shoulder, then she charged forward in a sudden burst of speed.
Clara’s eyes widened, "Too close!"
She slammed her palm down again, trying to stop Aurelia at all costs.
Flames cracked through the ground in a straight line toward Aurelia’s feet in an instant. This was Clara’s fastest spell, and it consumed a chunk of her Mana.
Aurelia, who was running in a straight line, noticed, but before she could dodge it, it exploded upward in a pillar of fire, like the ground itself had erupted.
The arena lit up in orange, heat rushing through the barrier that surrounded them. For a heartbeat, Aurelia vanished in the firestorm.
The crowd was surprised, and even Roman was surprised. Even with her enchantment, this should do some damage to Aurelia.
"Did she, did she hit her?" one of the girls whispered from Roman’s side.
But then, Aurelia burst through the flames, her shield a little blackened. The fire also touched her armor but slid away as the enchantments held. She looked completely unharmed.
Clara’s throat went dry. "No way..."
Roman smirked faintly from the side. Aurelia wasn’t just strong; she was also relentless.
Aurelia lifted her sword slightly, her calm eyes fixed on Clara.
Clara gritted her teeth. She had to push harder. She dragged her arm across the air, three circles of flame spinning to life. They shrank into burning spears, sharp and glowing.
With a yell, she hurled them all at once.
Aurelia raised her shield, deflecting the first, slicing the second in half with her sword, but the third slammed against her shield.
The protective glow around her body flickered for the first time and Aurelia was pushed down.
The crowd erupted in shouts. Clara had actually landed one. A smile formed on Clara’s face, but it didn’t take a second for Aurelia to get on her feet.
Clara’s eyes lit up with a spark of hope. "I can do this..."
