Chapter 186: Chapter 186 Something Amazing
The snake vanished after a while, and Reina fell to the ground, gasping for breath. Sweat covered her face, but a smile remained on her face as she looked over at Mira, who was on the ground.
The barrier was brought down, and a mage rushed towards Mira. She was okay, as the barrier protected her against the Snake’s attack, but she fell unconscious as she took a tumble.
The mage touched Mira’s head and soon her eyes fluttered open. She was shocked to find herself looking at the sky; the last thing she remembered was being in a match.
"Iron Fang," Mira muttered as she sat up and saw Reina standing up from the ground with a smile on her face. One of the mages was beside her, but she was okay and had won the match in a shocking twist.
Mira’s face twisted in anger as she stood up She really thought she was going to win, only for the match to be turned on its head by Reina’s last summon.
Both of the girls walked outside the arena towards where the other students were. Reina had a smile on her face, while Mira was angry.
The announcer came up and put an end to the battles, all the students came back into the arena and bowed down to the Queen before she stood up and left with Faylen.
The Noble families also began walking away while Mira walked towards her family to talk to them, Victoria and Evelyn followed the Queen.
"How did you acquire that summon?" Joanna asked Reina.
Reina wiped sweat from her forehead as Joanna stepped closer, her eyes sharp with curiosity; the altercation between them was already behind them.
"Iron Fang is no normal beast," Clara said. "That’s a summons most people only hear about in books. How did you acquire it?"
Reina gave a small smile, her chest still rising and falling from exhaustion, "It was luck and a bit of skill, I was with Aurelia when I tamed it, my binding spell was good against it and it was pretty quick, if the battle had gone on for long, I would have lost"
"No matter how you look at it, it is still amazing that you managed to tame it. It’s still in its early stages; later on, it’s going to be even stronger," Joanna replied.
The rest of the girls were not too happy after seeing Reina’s summon; they now knew they couldn’t win against her.
Aurelia and Ava, on the other hand, were just amazed; they didn’t care much about the summon since they could counter it, and Aurelia already knew about the summon first, so she knew exactly what to do if she was pitted against Reina.
’Damn, I can now see why Reina is convinced she’ll win in a fight against me, if I go all out I might win, but I still have a chance without going all out, I have fire magic and all animals are afraid of fighting, except fire-type beasts which the snake is not’
Mira arrived in front of her family, and they congratulated her on her battle. They, too, had thought she had won. Her strategy was almost perfect, and the fact that she hid her ability was genius, but it just wasn’t her day.
"What are you thinking? I can see that smirk on your face. What do you have in mind for those students?" Evelyn asked Victoria as they walked through the hallway of the palace.
"Why do you assume it’s about the students?"
"Because we both just saw something amazing, an iron fang isn’t your normal summoning for a class 1 student; in fact, no student had been able to summon an iron fang in the academy. All the summoners with an iron fang acquired it after the academy," Evelyn replied.
"Yeah, first I’m going to train all 10 of them after this tournament" Victoria spoke causing Evelyn to stop in her tracks.
"All ten of them, you want to train ten students... you’ve never shown an interest in more than 1 student, two at most...what changed?" Evelyn asked.
"We’re going to end the war in our lifetime, even though we’re not at peak strength, we’re still in our prime, and with the new students showing this type of potential, we’ll be able to attack in a year," Victoria spoke.
"Ten of them are definitely the strongest among the first year, but that male isn’t going to win the tournament, so you’ll have to find a substitute for him, and ten powerful mages aren’t going to change the tide of war"
"I’m just going to train ten, you’ll train the rest...and saying ten mages would change the tide is wrong, would it change the tide if there were ten mages as strong as both of us?" Victoria asked.
"Of course it would, but you’re forgetting that we are actually the strongest mages in the entire three kingdoms, it’s going to be hard to get mages like us," Victoria muttered as they arrived at the throne room.
"What about a mage stronger than both of us?" Victoria said with a smirk, and Evelyn had no idea what she was talking about.
Both of them walked into the throne room where the Queen was already seated, and they bowed their heads before sitting down.
"So there’s still nothing from the blood fangs, I thought you said we’re going to be attacked?" The Queen asked.
"That’s what we thought at first, and I still think we could be attacked" Evelyn replied.
"She did say she’s going after the demon lord, but there’s no reason to believe a group of criminals, and even with the artifact she discovered, she wouldn’t have enough power to go through," Victoria added.
"Speaking about the artifact, does this mean there are more artifacts we still haven’t found, do you have any idea how she found the artifact?" The Queen asked.
"Just like the rest of the artifacts, I think it spoke to her, but if that’s the case, it means the artifact hasn’t found a suitable person for hundreds of years till now, which is both surprising and frightening," Evelyn said.
