The Knight from the Fairytales-Chapter 10: Celebration

Chapter 10

While Robert and Little Red Riding Hood's story was unfolding, Beihai had already left,
Walking out of the forest, crossing the small town, heading towards the kingdom's center, where a celebration was indeed taking place. It was very likely the prince and princess's wedding,
Of course, if that were all, there really wouldn't be much reason to go, just a chance to get a free meal,
But this time, there were Wizards involved!
The closer he got to the kingdom's center, the more jubilant the people became, and many were riding horses towards the palace. Not only were guests from other countries invited, but even the kingdom's own citizens and Wizards were included, so how massive must this celebration be!
Still, going was one thing; the palace gates likely wouldn't let them all inside. At most, they could deliver a gift. For castles of smaller kingdoms, accommodating all citizens wasn't particularly difficult,
But this kingdom was clearly different. Accommodating everyone, plus guests from other nations, seemed somewhat impossible. And this time, there were Witches coming too,
Beihai had already mentally prepared himself, thinking he'd go ask around. The fact that these Witches would appear here genuinely piqued Beihai's curiosity. He could only say he wanted to satisfy his own curiosity,
But unexpectedly, Beihai had underestimated the importance of reputation in this world. Merely asking the soldiers a question, after the soldiers relayed the message, Beihai was invited by the King to attend the celebration,
When the soldier led Beihai to see the King, his face wore a smile, accompanied by an explanation,
The soldier didn't know if this kind Knight was aware, but that was his own affair. The soldier still had to perform his duties,
It turned out that the King and Queen here were deeply in love, but unfortunately, they had never had a child,
Even so, the King's affection for the Queen hadn't diminished in the slightest,
Though the King and Queen loved each other, they both desired a child. For this, the King and Queen had been praying constantly, hoping to have a child,
But no matter how the King and Queen prayed, it had no effect. Even bringing in Wizards proved helpless, and no legendary stork delivered a child into the Queen's arms,
Yet the couple didn't lose heart. Life, as always, had to move forward,
Perhaps the King and Queen's prayers finally had an effect. A year ago, a frog told the Queen, "Your prayers will soon be answered. Before long, you will give birth to a daughter."
"Now this entire celebration is for that little Princess. The King is in such high spirits he's invited many people to join in offering blessings for the little Princess's birth."
Of course, there were some things the soldier didn't mention. It wasn't just about blessing the little Princess; more importantly, it was about showing off. To others, it might just be a child,
But to the King, this child was almost his everything, his treasure, his proudest boast! So how could he not parade her around?
Now the child was one month old, her little face had filled out, and the King naturally grew fonder the more he looked, unable to resist sharing and boasting. "You have a child, right? No, you don't, old man?"
The King couldn't help feeling smug and immensely pleased. Hearing that a Knight had come because of her reputation, he naturally thought his little treasure, so young yet already famous—imagine when she grows up! So he wouldn't block a Knight at the gate,
That's how it happened. Beihai followed behind the soldier and entered the palace hall, where a dance was underway,
After guiding Beihai here, the soldier gave a slight bow and nod before departing on his own,
Beihai couldn't understand these dances, nor did he grasp their intricacies. Compared to such boring matters, he'd rather count how many Witches were present?
After hearing the soldier's description, combined with the King's preparations, Beihai could already determine which story this was,
A celebration for a child's first month, inviting Witches, the whole kingdom rejoicing—Sleeping Beauty,
According to the story, it might be three like in the movie version, possibly eight, or the classic twelve,
It's just a pity those Witches hadn't arrived yet.
