The Knight from the Fairytales-Chapter 33: What Is a Demon King?

Chapter 33

Elsa soon didn't need to think anymore, because her job was snatched away.
Compared to Elsa's current small frame, having her tend the fire and cook was quite strenuous. Sometimes the stove couldn't be made too high; if it was too high, she couldn't even handle the pot properly.
Just as Elsa was wondering whether to prepare an extra portion of food, the pot in her hands was directly intercepted and taken away by Ella.
"Let me handle this. I know a thing or two about these matters."
Ella had a smile on her face and effortlessly took over the job. Everything happened very naturally.
By the time Elsa reacted, she was already sitting at the table, watching Ella bustling about everywhere.
Suddenly, she felt rather useless. The one thing she could do to stay by Beihai's side and be of some use was, without a doubt, cooking a little food. Staying by his side to handle some tasks allowed Elsa to feel at ease, proving her usefulness.
But now, after her only capable job was taken away, Elsa felt things were taking a turn for the worse.
Glancing at Beihai, who was still pondering how to lure out that Fairy and then obtain the Magic Wand, his eyes were slightly vacant.
On the surface, he seemed to be watching Ella, but in reality, his thoughts had already drifted far, far away.
Elsa firmly decided she couldn't just sit back and do nothing. She hurriedly ran forward to start helping, with the simplest tasks like washing the vegetables to be prepared or peeling potatoes.
The two complemented each other. After all the bustling about, they finished half an hour later than expected.
Elsa felt this meal had her contribution. Although ninety percent of it was done by Sister Ella, there was still that ten percent; at the very least, she had helped.
Today's meal was exceptionally fragrant and delicious. One could only say, as expected of Ella, her farming skills and culinary craft were among the best of all the princesses.
It could be said that aside from still being somewhat unskilled in noble etiquette, in all other aspects, taking her home would absolutely make her a virtuous wife and loving mother. Although the origin of these housekeeping skills was a bit hellish, one couldn't deny she was the most down-to-earth.
The rest could be learned. One could only say the future is promising, and the future is wifely.
Beihai then spoke up to inquire, as this concerned his plans. Although he intended to sell her out, he still had to arrange some backup plans and such.
"How do you feel?"
"Very good. The teacher is also very patient. If there's anything I don't understand, I can ask directly. She's a very good person."
"That's good then. By the way, what do you think of your family's manor? Do you want to take it back?"
He continued to press the advantage. After all, that manor was, at the very least, a place of memories for Ella.
There were a few childhood memories, although her childhood wasn't that great either. Well, when her deadbeat father was still alive, there were at least some good memories.
"This..."
Ella seemed somewhat hesitant. After all, that was her nominal mother who had taken over. It had nothing to do with her.
If one strictly followed the will, her father left her nothing. Even if he did leave something, it was temporarily held by the stepmother and had nothing to do with Ella.
That's not quite right either, as she was properly married through the main gate. Although she was a stepmother to Ella, she was indeed her mother.
"No need to worry. That manor itself has a share belonging to you. With just a word from you, I can help you get it back."
Beihai felt no pressure anyway. On his side, he held the moral high ground, so to speak.
"Forget it, there's no need for that. Let all of that pass. Things are fine now."
Her words carried a sense of "when will this cycle of revenge end?"
Hatred is mutual. It intensifies.
It passes on to the next generation, generation after generation. How to resolve it?
That would be to have a son, then have a daughter. The two meet by chance, and the subsequent plot is a delight to see.
Ella's choice didn't surprise Beihai. One could only say he truly admired her temperament.
Even in the storyline, after marrying the Prince, she didn't seek revenge against her stepmother or those two daughters.
On the contrary, they even attended Ella's wedding, although they later tried some petty tricks but were punished by animals.
"If that's what you think, then I can't help it. Keep studying. Calculating the time, it's almost here."
Ella didn't reply further, just shyly nodded, not understanding Beihai's meaning.
Beihai couldn't say much more now. He couldn't just blurt out that he foresaw the future and tell Ella the King would send out invitations requesting all unmarried women to attend.
If that news got out, who knows what might hear it? Like some rats, for instance. After hearing it, it could cause an uproar throughout the city.
Then no one would want to teach Ella etiquette anymore, as they'd all be busy dealing with the King's invitation first. And most importantly, who doesn't have a daughter?
Elsa, standing by, felt somewhat indignant, feeling a bit superfluous.
The following days were relatively simple, with a somewhat repetitive feel: learning etiquette, finishing tasks, then returning home to handle household chores.
Beihai naturally wouldn't stay home all the time. He would take opportunities to stroll outside, sometimes taking Ella and Elsa out together to buy small toys.
Or he would take Elsa, who had nothing to do, around for walks. There were no particular thoughts or intentions; it was purely spending money out of a retaliatory psychology now that he had funds.
During this period, Beihai felt he maintained a very good distance from Ella.
As for the other one, who was often a bit sullen, Beihai could tell at a glance what this little one was thinking.
"You, what's there to be upset about? Although you can't do anything, you're perfectly qualified as a mascot. Sell some cuteness, let me pinch and knead your little face."
As Beihai spoke, his hands kept moving, pulling at her little cheek.
"Really? But I don't want to be like that. I want to help you."
"Then that's even less of a problem. Didn't I tell you? Later, I'll find a mage to teach you magic. I believe in your talent."
For young girls, Beihai still paid some attention. Like Aurora, for instance. Once she grows up, she won't be just a person; she'll practically be a human-shaped weapon.
But mentioning the name Aurora, he wondered how she was doing.
In the kingdom where Aurora resided, the King was rather overwhelmed.
Because of the Knight's Vow and protection, there was no need to lock Aurora in a tower. Instead, she could move normally and be with her parents.
Simultaneously, due to the power of the vow, there was no problem with her touching a spinning wheel before age sixteen. One could say she could live carefree for life.
But the problem was, because of Beihai's story, Aurora became filled with fantasies about the outside world.
This little sprout, who hadn't grown much, directly went abroad, one hand holding the Holy Sword, the other carrying a golden axe, to travel the world. On her journey, she made companions, claiming she would defeat the Demon King who would destroy the world.
Demon King? The King had lived most of his life and had never even heard of this darn term. He sent soldiers to search for her, only to find they couldn't catch up at all.
Among Aurora's many blessings was "wishes come true." How could anyone catch up with something like that?
And compared to worrying about Aurora, one should actually worry about the enemies she encounters on her journey.
