The Knight from the Fairytales-Chapter 36: Try a Different Approach

Chapter 36

Beihai furrowed his brow, thinking for a long time.
Elsa's little head slowly rose from under the table. "Sir Knight, you two are still having a tiff."
"Not really. Ella just wants to think quietly."
"Huh? Then who is Jingjing?"
"Who is Jingjing? Right, how would I know who she is? All I know is that it's almost dark now! Ella is still in the room thinking about who Jingjing is? How would I know who he is?"
Beihai covered his face with his hand, truly at a loss. Could it be that this plan could only end here?
To be honest, he was really unwilling. No matter how you looked at it, ending the plan like this was a complete loss, a double blow.
Now, Ella was hopeless. Just like Ah Bao said, that old turtle sits in a broken cave every day, pondering 'who am I?'
"No, I have to take action. Where there's a will, there's a way."
Beihai couldn't sit still anymore. Rather than wasting energy here with all this back-and-forth, it was better to quickly groom someone else.
He could no longer count on Ella's awakening. He needed to think carefully about what type the Prince liked.
First, love at first sight. Second, he needed to find a girl, a beautiful girl.
Beihai walked to the mirror and looked at his own flax-colored clothes. Should he take the field himself?
What he wanted was the Magic Wand. The ball didn't seem directly relevant; it was more like a prerequisite. If you had to nitpick, completing it was the condition for the Fairy to appear.
The key was, if he went himself, he could probably succeed, but he wouldn't be able to escape unscathed. Moreover, it would be a devastating blow to his reputation. He might even end up wanted by an entire kingdom.
"Forget it. I'm not into that sort of thing. I don't have those preferences!"
Elsa jumped down from the chair and followed behind Beihai like a little tail.
The current task was to try and ease the tension between the two, but it was very difficult because he couldn't get a word in; he had no say.
Ella had locked her door tight. On Beihai's side, he was starting to become a bit stubborn and unyielding.
Finally, evening arrived. Beihai randomly found a young girl working in a bakery, dressed her in a splendid gown,
gave the bakery owner a large bag of gold coins, and took this girl to attend the Prince's ball.
However, while the girl was very happy upon learning of this opportunity, she was also deeply insecure.
Unlike Ella, who knew she had the qualifications and wanted to give it a try, brimming with confidence in herself,
this girl was the complete opposite. She lacked that confidence. Even wearing the most magnificent gown, she still looked somewhat dejected.
That timid, shrinking demeanor meant that no matter how pretty she was, the Prince probably wouldn't give her a second glance. After all, her head was constantly bowed down; you couldn't even see her face.
Beihai had no choice. He could only try a desperate remedy. But at the last moment, he still went to Ella's door.
"Open the door. Stop thinking about it. If you haven't figured it out, I've figured it out for you.
You are free. Forcing you was my mistake. Perhaps I shouldn't have pressured you."
With a click, the door opened.
"Alright, I won't force you to go again. But it's true that I'm leaving, and regarding the ball, I do have my own plans."
Beihai couldn't be forceful anymore. In fact, this approach had already deviated from the principles he wanted to uphold. It was completely over the line, in the red zone.
"I'm sorry. Actually, it's my fault. At its core, you were doing it for my own good.
It's just that regarding the Prince, I've lost all feeling. I think maybe the timing of our meeting was just wrong."
Ella also understood very well, because what Beihai had said earlier was correct. Once Beihai left, if the Stepmother saw Ella living so well and with new wealth, she would definitely seize it directly.
Ella's personality was strange. She could be very strong-willed. With just a little training, that tough, capable side of her could be fully revealed.
She didn't care about her status, could possess confidence, go to the ball, and even dare to charge forward to reclaim her love if magic disrupted things.
But when facing those three—the Stepmother and her daughters—she seemed completely unable to be tough. So, Ella couldn't hold onto things, nor was she capable of protecting them.
Furthermore, meeting the Prince... putting everything else aside, countless women in this world fantasized about that very scene. From Ella's perspective, this was completely an act of unconditional kindness towards her.
This kindness, Ella remembered it all in her heart.
When Beihai burst into her life, he kicked open a long-sealed door, letting sunlight pour into a house that had known no daylight.
He helped her escape her predicament, helped her change into beautiful clothes, told her not to cling to a broom anymore, not to waste her youth on meaningless things, but to set her free.
Like a warrior who asked no questions, he charged in, grabbed her hand, and ran outside, into the sunlight, finally taking off his helmet.
Everything was developing quite well. Unfortunately, the warrior's journey wouldn't stop; he would continue to walk on.
It was just that she couldn't keep up with his pace. Right, what could she do? Nothing more than cleaning. In the face of danger, she would only become a burden.
He didn't know what Ella was really thinking, but Beihai brought that girl over, hoping she could teach her a thing or two. Just in case there was still hope?
After learning that Beihai wouldn't force her, Ella relaxed completely. Naturally, she took the young girl's hand and began to talk with her.
He didn't know exactly what they discussed, but Beihai only knew that the girl seemed to have gained some confidence.
After Beihai rented a carriage and led the horse towards the palace, he couldn't help but start to wonder,
In that case, would the Witch still curse them? Would the Magic Wand still get lost?
After all, that Fairy appeared alongside Ella. And there was a rumor that the Fairy was actually Ella's mother, but there was no basis for that; it was just a piece of gossip.
At the palace, the ball had already begun. Many dignitaries and nobles had all arrived.
"The daughter of General Duweisar has arrived!"
"Miss Dianova has arrived!"
As each Minister announced a name, a young lady in a gown would step forward, come before the Prince, and the two would bow to each other.
There wasn't much conversation between them, only the most basic courtesy. The Prince felt somewhat helpless about this.
He knew what this ball meant, what it represented, and even knew what he was supposed to do.
For every young lady who came forward, all he could do was offer the most basic respect. He wouldn't make a choice.
He was so bored he let out a yawn, then looked at his father.
Something interesting happened when the Stepmother's Two Daughters took the stage. The Prince was speechless, directly rolling his eyes so hard they almost went to the back of his head.
The King, watching, slumped into his chair. This was bad. No matter what, they were a wealthy family, but to make their daughters so... unattractive? Being unattractive was one thing, but they didn't even have basic manners. What were they doing?
The King, watching from the high platform, felt utterly dismayed.
"This child is so uncooperative. I really don't understand him! What kind of wife does he even want? I give up. I simply shouldn't have placed my hopes on this child."
"Your Majesty, I tried to warn you, but... but you wouldn't listen. Thankfully, Your Majesty can describe this scene so vividly.
The Prince has been politely greeting these girls one by one. Finally, he stops. That young lady, she has appeared.
The Prince lifts his head, gazing forward at that destined match. My heavens, how different she is. Just as you said, Your Majesty, love at first sight... but this might be..."
The Minister's tongue was sharp, but before he could continue, the King grabbed him and, with that monocle,
"Hahaha, you're right. She's appeared. She's really appeared."
