The Lord Of Blood Hill-Chapter 134: Interrogation Techniques
Seeing all his men taken down, Abe is shocked by the speed of the arrows. However, he believes he still has a chance, with Henwell as his breakthrough point. He fully channels his Fighting Spirit, bursting towards Henwell in a desperate charge. But then, everything goes black, and he knows nothing more.
As Abe rushes forward, Henwell deftly sidesteps, precisely gripping Abe's neck. He swings the sack of round millet from his right hand, covering Abe's head with it. Then, Henwell reaches up, catching a sheathed longsword tossed down to him. With the sword in hand, he taps the hilt against Abe's head, subduing him.
With Abe neutralized, several black-clad figures leap down from the rooftop. These individuals wear leather armor with intricate chainmail beneath. A longsword is strapped to their backs, and they hold semi-metallic heavy crossbows in their hands.
These crossbows have a one-meter-long bow arm and a one-meter-long body, with a front ring for foot bracing to draw the string. The bolts are less than two feet long, tipped with two-inch triangular armor-piercing heads, and stabilized by tail fins.
The crossbow's main body is wooden, reinforced with metal springs for support. This is Henwell's improved crossbow, capable of piercing armor at a hundred meters and penetrating leather armor at two hundred meters. Its effective killing range against unarmored targets is around three hundred and fifty meters. This is the best standard-issue ranged weapon Henwell can produce at this stage.
Even so, this crossbow demands significant strength from its user. It requires a front-mounted foot ring to brace and draw the string using leg power. However, those accompanying Henwell are the elite action group from Pi. Each group consists of ten members, including one knight-level individual, with the rest being elite knight squires. They can handle the hundreds of pounds of draw weight, easily stringing these heavy crossbows without the foot ring.
Henwell instructs the team leader, "Clean up the scene! A fire at the oil shop is perfectly normal!"
After giving his orders, Henwell hoists the unconscious Abe and leaps onto the rooftop, swiftly leaving the area.
When Abe regains consciousness, it's already the dead of night. He finds himself seated in a heavy chair, his hands and feet securely restrained. After a moment, the memories of what happened flood back to him.
Henwell sits two meters away, surrounded by a few hooded figures. Seeing Abe awake, Henwell stands and approaches a brazier. Without a word, he picks up a red-hot branding iron and presses it against Abe's chest. The iron burns through the fabric instantly, followed by the sizzling sound of flesh meeting metal. The acrid smell of scorched cloth mixed with burning flesh fills the basement.
Abe proves to be a tough guy, enduring the branding without uttering a single sound. However, his tense, trembling body and the sweat beading on his forehead reveal the immense pain he's enduring.

Henwell places the iron back in the brazier and turns to the team leaders. "Look! This is our peer! Unlike those spineless ones you've encountered before, he's undergone more rigorous training—not just in combat, but also in resisting interrogation. Getting someone like him to talk isn't easy. Now, I'll teach you interrogation techniques. "
"Humans find it hard to betray their own bodies. Pain is a natural response of the human body, making it unbearable for most. But what you need to learn is how to inflict maximum pain without causing severe damage."
With that, Henwell picks up a small box, places it on a chair, and opens it. It's a multi-layered box, each layer filled with delicate tools. There are small knives, rows of steel needles of varying sizes, tweezers, and tiny hammers. Though these items appear intricately crafted, almost like works of art, to Abe, they seem terrifying.
Henwell selects a thick steel needle about the length of a hand. "You know, I've always believed that a good doctor can become a good interrogator. They know which parts of the human body are most sensitive to pain and how to avoid causing fatal harm. As for me, I'm somewhat of a doctor myself, so what I'm about to say is important—take notes!"
Henwell moves to Abe's side, placing a hand on his head, causing Abe to shiver involuntarily.
"Pain in humans is transmitted to the brain by something called nerves," Henwell explains. "Simply put, inducing pain involves targeting these nerve locations. The area with the highest concentration of pain nerves is the head. However, since our target here has value, I won't demonstrate on him. The head contains many critical areas, and a mistake could be fatal. You can experiment on less important targets later."
Henwell holds the steel needle, continuing, "The head is close to the brain, with denser nerves. Without causing visible harm, we can stimulate the jaw. But be careful not to let them bite their tongue off, or it could be troublesome. Typically, you want to target the spot just below the ear, in that little hollow. Stimulating here will cause the target immense pain."
He gently inserts the steel needle into the spot below Abe's ear, near the jawbone. As the needle goes deeper, Abe's body convulses violently, and he screams uncontrollably. Henwell remains unfazed, patiently instructing the trainees. He even repeats the process on the right side of Abe's head.
After withdrawing the needle, Abe takes a moment to recover, his gums bleeding from clenching his teeth too hard. Henwell tears open the fabric on Abe's shoulder, pointing to the area near the armpit. "This is another area dense with pain nerves. But there are many blood vessels here, so be cautious when stimulating."
As the needle penetrates, Abe again convulses and screams in agony. After demonstrating on both armpits, Henwell calls the trainees to the back of Abe.
"The back also has a lot of pain nerve clusters. Anyone who's pulled a muscle in their back knows how unbearable shoulder and neck pain can be."
"Now, the chest. It houses vital organs, so it's also rich in pain nerves. However, I don't recommend stimulating here due to the risk of infection and potential harm to the organs."
"Next, the abdomen. It's filled with nerve endings. You don't need to know what they are, just that it hurts a lot. I suggest targeting organs like the kidneys and spleen, as the pain is usually unbearable for most. If you encounter a tough guy, inflict damage around here."
"The lower abdomen houses the bladder, where urine is stored. Stimulating this area can bring tears to the eyes, as it connects to the reproductive organs. Look, Mr. Abe here is already in tears from the pain! Also, before causing harm here, kindly remind the target that any damage can easily affect their manhood!"
