The Lord Of Blood Hill-Chapter 135: The Mysterious Organization
After enduring over an hour of torment, Abe's mouth is now filled with blood. His bloodshot eyes glare at Henwell as he growls, "What do you want to know?"
Henwell sets down the knife and picks up a thin steel needle. He heats it over the flame and sterilizes it with distilled high-proof alcohol. Ignoring Abe, Henwell addresses the trainees, "When using force to extract information, always ensure your tools are sterilized. We're after intel, not trying to kill them. If they die from an infection, all our efforts would be wasted!"
He crouches down, holding Abe's hand as he slowly inserts the needle under the fingernail. "Fingers and toes are packed with nerve endings. Finding the right spot can cause immense pain, like under the nails!"
After demonstrating, Abe is left gasping and sobbing uncontrollably. Suddenly, Abe spits a mouthful of bloody saliva onto Henwell's face. "Haha... is that all you've got? Are you giving me a pedicure?"
Henwell calmly wipes the blood from his face and tells the group, "Remember, our goal is to gather intelligence. An interrogator must maintain professionalism and not be provoked by insults or taunts. We need to maintain our own pace and not be swayed. In situations like this, the target is clearly trying to anger us into causing more severe harm. Essentially, he's seeking death, but we can't let him have his way!"
"Moreover, at this stage, most people can't endure any longer. They hope for a quick death by provoking us. It's crucial to stay calm and proceed methodically. We're not the ones being interrogated, so there's no rush. Usually, after this phase, it won't be long before they start talking. However, our Mr. Abe here isn't just anyone. Even if he confesses, it could be false information or even a deadly trap."
Abe's eyes flash with a venomous look.
Henwell continues, "So how do we identify false information or traps? There are generally two approaches."
"First, if the target cares about someone, we can guide them to have that person verify the information."
"Second, when dealing with those reckless individuals who care about nothing, we can record the information, shuffle its order, mix in some fabricated details, and compile it into questions. Ask them one by one, probing for inconsistencies."
"By asking multiple times and altering the sequence, we can disrupt their logical chain. When people lie, they follow a clear logical thread. If this thread is disrupted, they have to recall rather than speak spontaneously. If we detect lies, it means their will hasn't been broken yet. Then we follow the established interrogation process again."
Abe roars, "You devil, you're going to hell!"
Henwell shrugs, "Of course! Where else would I go if not hell? Mr. Abe, we'll stop here for tonight. There's plenty of time ahead, we can take it slow. I imagine you won't be getting much sleep tonight, so use the time to craft some flawless lies. Just make sure they're airtight! Otherwise, if we catch you lying, it'll be quite the ordeal!"
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, the violation.
With that, Henwell leads the group out of the dungeon. Upstairs, Chick comments, "Boss, that was intense. I felt the pain myself! I bet he'll confess by tomorrow. Who could withstand another round of that?"
Henwell shakes his head gently, "He won't. Even if he confesses, it'll be false. He's capable of enduring such interrogation. People can become accustomed to pain, and he has a strong will to survive. He knows that speaking means death, but staying silent means we won't kill him. So, he'll withstand this interrogation. After three rounds, this method won't affect him anymore."
Chick frowns, "Is he really that tough?"
Henwell chuckles, "The forces behind Forge Furnace have been elusive for so long; we don't even know their name. We were all selected from the grassroots of such organizations, and we understand that these groups are immensely powerful. Even if he's not directly part of the organization, he's certainly closely linked to it. Do you think he'd dare reveal their secrets?"
Chick rubs his forehead, "So what do we do next?"
Henwell thinks for a moment, "Break his spirit and will. Don't let him sleep peacefully; keep him exhausted and make him sick. When people are injured or ill, their resolve weakens. Prolonged lack of rest will scatter his thoughts, causing confusion, and he might inadvertently reveal information. Such intel tends to be quite reliable."
"But it won't be complete information!"
Henwell paces for a bit, "After a while, I'll give you a new location. Transfer him there and gradually reduce the guards. He won't give up on escaping, and don't worry about his little tricks. Play along, let him escape! Once he's out, he'll immediately hide, likely at a safe spot he's set up. You oversee this personally, keep a close watch on him, but don't let him notice."
Chick suddenly understands, "You want him to contact the organization himself?"
Henwell shakes his head, "He won't dare to contact them, but the organization will find him to eliminate any loose ends. At that point, you track those sent to silence him. I doubt it'll be members of the organization directly. Given their caution, they'll likely delegate it to other forces."
"So be careful; someone will definitely be observing from the shadows. Identify this person, then track them! If things get too tricky, retreat immediately and don't expose yourself! If necessary, you can hide at the safe spot I provided until I come to save you."
Chick nods solemnly, "I understand the stakes. Don't worry!"
Henwell pats his shoulder, "Be cautious in everything. I've been away for over a month; I need to return to the embassy. My roots are still in the Duchy of Vorry. It's not yet time for me to spread my wings. We need to wait a bit longer."
At dawn, Henwell mounts his Night Charger and heads towards Divine Revelation City. By the time he arrives in the capital, the Midsummer Festival has already passed. Along the way, Henwell also celebrates his twentieth birthday.
He gives himself two birthday gifts. The first is uncovering clues about the mysterious organization. This is significant for Henwell; it's not so much about revenge. Rather, he understands the importance of knowing about this massive organization entrenched in the Kingdom of Billie, with its influence reaching various countries.
Henwell senses that one day, his developing forces will inevitably clash with this organization. Knowing the enemy in advance allows him to prepare timely.
The second gift is even more crucial for Henwell. A few days ago, he reached the rank of Grand Knight. This was confirmed by a private message from the chat group system, awarding him an 'Extraordinary Exploration' achievement and a 'Skin Fragment' reward. Apart from the intense pain that knocked him out, his physical defense and overall fitness have significantly improved. Compared to the first time, the enhancement is much greater.
