The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1133
Chapter 1133
Being surrounded by a pack of wolves that killed all humans on sight wasn’t something an ordinary person would ever experience. Even if they did, it would be the last experience they ever had.
In other words, surviving something like that was practically impossible.
Normally, that kind of situation didn’t happen, since the monster wolves usually moved in small groups of three or four. Whenever more would gather, they’d only start fighting among themselves due to their territorial nature, so a pack of such large size was unheard of.
Practically no one could stand against such a mob. Even an Awakened individual seasoned in dealing with wolves wouldn’t have a chance facing so many snarling attackers at once.
Grrrrr.
Evangeline glared at the wolves, her eyes burning with hostility despite the fear coursing through her. There were still survivors among the people, though some were badly wounded.
‘They need healing.’
Alas, the number of monsters kept increasing for some reason.
She could tell that something was definitely off. She had noticed something strange about the wolves using the keen perception she possessed as a dragon.
Their movements made it seem as if they were blindly following something, yet regardless of whatever it was, the outcome would remain unchanged when facing Evangeline.
As she took stock of the situation, she discovered that with the exception of the woman she had saved, the remaining survivors looked at her with fearful eyes. Even so, she didn’t have the time available to care about them.
Ever since she was younger, she had always dreamt of becoming a hero. That dream was what had driven her to run away from home, during which time she’d ended up causing a major incident in the northern part of the eastern continent.

During that time, she had risen to the level of a Master before her father had gone through hell to save her. After that, she’d given up on becoming a hero. Well, she hadn’t completely abandoned the dream, but she knew she needed to get stronger before revisiting it.
After her second growth cycle, her mindset had begun to change, realizing that the idea of becoming a hero was foolish. She had come to view it as nothing more than a cringe-filled chapter of her childish past.
However, when she saw someone injured and in danger, her body moved instinctively. She knew that if her father had seen her at that moment, he would’ve probably laughed and called it a stupid move.
Sling!
The blood-red blade shimmered ominously, yet the energy it emitted was pure and steady.
“If you want to hurt them, you’ll have to get through me first. Get lost.”
She spat the words like venom, her violet eyes flaring. After her second growth, her instincts in battle had become even sharper.
“Filthy mutants.”
The moment she said that, she shot forward like a flash of lightning.
Grraaa!!
Though Evangeline looked like a girl in her mid-teens, she was already near the peak of her body’s physical growth. The power of a fully grown ancient dragon was nothing to scoff at. While Eclipse had looked like a tiny runt, Evangeline—who had inherited more of her father's blood—was considerably bigger than her mother.
Regardless, no mere mutant wolf could stand in the way of Evangeline, armed with a helixium-class sword and a bloodline of overwhelming power.
With every move she made, a black stream followed her. The wolves then either burst apart, were sliced cleanly in half, or were torn to shreds.
Her savage aggression was different from how she used to fight, but her purpose remained unchanged.
Evangeline, sweeping through the battlefield and slaying monsters, was terrifying, yet also noble, arrogant, and beautiful. Even though she still carried the atmosphere of a child, she was undeniably strong.
That single word burned itself into the minds of everyone watching unprompted. It wasn’t even just that she was strong—she instilled an overwhelming sense of awe.
Only one Awakened individual in the world had ever inspired a similar feeling in others. It was the one who tore apart the Malicious Spirits of Earth, the Saint of Tionis. They were getting the same feeling from her at that moment.
Yelp!
Evangeline struck the last remaining wolf, it letting out a dying shriek. Without hesitation, she pulled the blade free and gathered her mana. The dark blood that had splattered onto her body instantly evaporated into nothing.
She let out a short, meaningless sigh before flicking her sword away and making it vanish. Ignoring the Awakened ones staring at her in fear and awe, she stepped forward toward the ones who had been severely injured by the wolves.
However, when she approached, they flinched and instinctively backed away, terrified. Her expression darkened at the recognition of abject fear in their eyes.
“You need treatment—you’ve been poisoned.”
Despite her words, they were still tense and uneasy. Seeing this, Super Ribbon was worried that Evangeline might get hurt by their reaction.
Evangeline was a source of awe not only on Earth, but also in Tionis. After her second growth, she had effectively become a symbol of fear.
“What...” Just then, someone’s voice rang out, “What the hell are you doing, you goddamned bastards?!”
A female Awakened who had been sitting collapsed on the ground suddenly screamed, startling everyone around her, “Are you insane?! She came to save us!! What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”
She was the woman whom the wolves had tried to bite earlier. “You stayed quiet when she saved you, and now you’re scared of her?! You pieces of shit!!”
Her outburst made the other Awakened ones finally realize just how pathetic they were being.
“
Ah.
W-We just...”
“It’s okay,” Evangeline answered calmly before stepping forward. She slowly approached one of the groaning injured and placed her hand over their wounds.
The worst injury belonged to a man who had been bitten in the abdomen, resulting in massive blood loss. His skin had already begun to discolor from the poison.
“Super Ribbon, lend me some holy power.”
Following her request, Super Ribbon unleashed a torrent of holy power.
Performing healing magic was tough. Unlike Davey, Evangeline wasn’t an all-rounder, and so couldn’t pull it off quite as well as he could.
However, she had dragontongue. Not just any dragontongue, either—she had ancient dragontongue.
[Move.]
She forced the holy power to work by embedding it with dragontongue. As the power surged into the wounded man’s body, it began slowly healing him and purging the poison.
The others watched the miracle unfold in utter silence.
When the dying man slowly came to, Evangeline stood up, her face slightly tired. “What about the others?”
“W-What are you all doing?! Move them over here, now!”
At the woman’s shout, the startled others scrambled to bring the other severely injured to Evangeline.
The healing process began yet again.
* * *
First, the sudden intervention, then the slaughter of the monsters, and the healing that followed had all left Evangeline exhausted. She had put effort into utilizing an ability path that didn't suit her, so it was only natural for her to tire quickly.
Swinging a sword or destroying enemies was one thing; she could do that effortlessly, like a walk in the park. However, healing critically wounded people was different. The accumulated strain was a demonstration of that fact.
“I... I’m alive? I’m alive!!”
Some of the Awakened ones shouted in relief, hugging each other. As Evangeline watched them, a woman approached her.
“Thank you, little lady.”
Evangeline didn’t know what to say.
“And... I’m sorry. After you saved us, all we did was stare at you like crazy people.”
“It’s fine,” she murmured in return, as if there was nothing to be disappointed about. “I’m sorry. I’ll apologize on their behalf.”
“Why are you apologizing?” the woman asked with confusion.
“They were just scared before, but it’s different now.”
The woman’s head tilted slightly to the side, still not quite understanding. The Awakened who had looked at Evangeline with fear earlier eventually approached her with hesitation, wearing awkward expressions. They bowed their heads once they reached her.
“We’re sorry... and thank you so much.”
Their words stirred something indescribable in Evangeline. It was an odd mixture of emotions, both swelling and unpleasant all at once.
Seeing her remain silent, clearly uncertain about how to respond to the strange feeling, the woman kicked the others beside her. “You bastards! You think that’s enough?! Get your heads down, now!”
Her fierce shouting left them no room to argue. They all let out sighs and bent at the waist, bowing deeply.
“Thank you so much! We owe you our lives!!”
Seeing their unified shout, her jaw practically dropped to the ground. Her face turned beet red, and she quickly turned her head. “
H-Hmph!
I just took care of what I saw. It would’ve been bad luck if you all had died, that’s all.”
The Awakened ones gave her blank stares, glancing among themselves.
The entire time, they’d thought she was someone to fear. After all, her presence had been overwhelming and vicious during the confrontation. However, looking at her from a fresher lens, she was just a cute girl acting her age.
“Ha... Haha... I must’ve been out of my mind.”
“Goodness... I acted like such a coward in front of a kid.”
“
Haha,
what hypocrites!”
“What?! Like you didn’t freak out too! Shut it!”
Seeing the group bicker awkwardly, trying to laugh off their embarrassment, Evangeline slipped away from the scene to make her escape. The woman tried to stop her, but she had already gotten too far away.
Running off in a fluster, Evangeline covered her mouth with one hand. She couldn’t understand why her lips felt like they were moving on their own, the corners of her mouth insistent on raising. She then suddenly sensed something inside the rift.
“
Hm?
”
“What’s wrong?” Super Ribbon, who had followed after her, asked.
Evangeline just frowned and looked around.
Whack!!
She reached out into the air, grabbed onto something invisible, and twisted it.
“
Kraaaw!!!
”
Something became engulfed in blue flames and vanished. It appeared a bizarre and immaterial priestly figure in dark robes had burned away into nothing.
There had been nothing in front of them for a second, giving them a shock, but Evangeline had clearly dealt with it nonetheless.
“There was something invisible here.”
At her words, Super Ribbon stared at her blankly.
“It came from over there.” Evangeline looked off into the empty air, then slowly reached her hand out.
Crack!!
Sparks flew as a rift burst open where there had previously been nothing.
“A silence gate!” Super Ribbon gasped in shock. She turned to Evangeline, amazed. “Eva... how did you even notice that? That’s incredible!”
“I just saw it, and felt it...” Evangeline murmured shyly, blushing from the earnest praise.
* * *
The incident that occurred at the D-class open rift made it all the way to the news.
Under normal circumstances, the sudden, coordinated behavior of the monsters would have resulted in a massive loss of life.
The Hunter Management Bureau and government had naturally moved quickly to seal off the rift for investigation, but the situation had already been resolved by the time they arrived.
Even so, that wasn’t the end of the story.
[Did you guys hear? The daughter of the Saint of Tionis showed up at some D-class swamp.]
[Frfr? No cap on a stack?]
[Yeah. Some Awakened folks were about to get wiped out by monsters before she suddenly appeared, killed everything, and left.]
[I heard she even healed them, too.]
[Wait, isn’t she the same one who killed someone?]
[Are you stupid???? That was fake news. She was cleared.]
[Now that I think about it, there was a similar case before.]
[She’s got guts, I’ll give her that much. Honestly, that er back then—what kind of nerve did she have to frame her like that?]
[Typical trash journalism. I heard she got hit with a heavy sentence, and now there’s even a bill in motion. Nowadays, if you purposely and knowingly write bullshit, you’re screwed.]
[That’s a W.]
While there were still a few people clinging to outdated views, public opinion began to shift simply because of a single video someone had uploaded.
[If you want to hurt them, you’ll have to get through me first! Get lost.]
[Filthy mutants.]
She had appeared before the frightened Awakened, without even the slightest trace of fear in her eyes, and taken down the monsters. She’d protected every single person without leaving anyone behind.
Even when a few mutant wolves targeted the survivors, Evangeline didn’t hesitate to throw herself into the fray, cutting them down without a second thought. Then, she slowly and gently approached those who feared her, letting them know they needed treatment and extending a hand to help.
[Holy shit. If I were her, I would’ve just let them all die. For real.]
[Like seriously? They’re scared of the person who just saved them????]
[Damn... Can you imagine how much that must’ve hurt her...]
Overwhelmingly positive reactions began flooding in. Her name as an individual hadn’t been well-known before, and there had been a cloud of bad rumors hanging over her. Nonetheless, it didn’t take long for her image to be completely flipped.
After just a few days, the Awakened individuals who had received her help started appearing in interviews, repeatedly apologizing for how they treated her and expressing their gratitude. They also firmly denied the negative rumors surrounding her, saying the Evangeline they had seen was nothing like that. They all shook their heads with conviction.
Their credibility was helped by the fact that they were members of a well-known mid-tier guild. The woman Evangeline had saved even turned out to be the guildmaster’s daughter. Once the guild began openly supporting Evangeline, others followed, and stories of her kind acts during her occasional visits to Earth started pouring in.
Of course, a portion of the more negative coverage was dispersed by the government to help polish her image. As even more genuine stories surfaced, people began to change their minds.
The same online spaces that had once been filled with negative opinions about Evangeline O’Rowane, the daughter of the Saint of Tionis, were talking about how she was just a kind young lady who couldn’t bear to see people get hurt. She was just like anyone else who would get upset if someone insulted their parents.
[I mean, the Saint of Tionis is human too, right? Thinking he’s above us just because he’s strong is kind of dumb.]
[Evangeline O’Rowane is like, four years old or something, isn’t she? But with that level of development, is she even human?]
[She’s a mix. I heard mixes grow faster than humans.]
[Maybe it’s because she’s not human; she acted super mature for a four-year-old.]
[Honestly, you can't judge someone like her by normal human standards.]
Evangeline O’Rowane, despite looking like a girl in her mid-teens, wasn’t even five years old yet. For someone her age, hearing bad things about her parents was, of course, both shocking and infuriating.
As the internet buzzed with her stories, the eye of the storm herself, Evangeline, was casually restarting her livestream since her suspension period had finally ended.
She gave her cheeks a few light slaps and took a deep breath. “Hey, everyone! Long time no see.”
Though she had become a hot topic as Evangeline O’Rowane, the streamer known as Eva was still just a normal content creator. She reassured herself that there was no reason to be nervous.
Evangeline switched her stream to live mode, ready to draw and chat with her viewers as usual.
[Hieve!!]
[Hieve!!!!!!!]
At first, just a handful of viewers came in. Then dozens, hundreds, and thousands. She used to have nearly ten thousand viewers before her suspension, so it wasn’t exactly unexpected. Still, it seemed something was off.
“
Huh?
W-What’s going on?”
The viewer count went past twenty thousand.
“I-I think t-there’s a bug! Yeah, it’s gotta be a bug! Oh no! If I get suspended again this month, it’s a permanent ban!!” she shouted in panic.
The chat exploded with laughter.
[LOL LOL LOL]
[She’s so freaking cute omg]
[Holy moly, twenty thousand viewers?! Jesus. This can’t be real.]
As the chat grew more and more chaotic, her eyes darted across the screen, overwhelmed.
“What is even—”
Then a donation alert popped.
Ding!
[UncleSupportSquad has donated 100,000 won.]
-
Miss Evangeline, so when are you turning on your cam? All us uncles and aunties are always cheering for you!
Her brain froze. “
Huh?
”
‘How do they know my name?’
She didn’t realize how sharp humans could be, or how carelessly she’d been to leave behind clues.
The trigger for it all was the photo she had taken in the D-class swamp.
