The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1139.2
Chapter 1139.2
[The mariachi band!!]
[Bring out the mariachi band!!]
[Yep, landed it on the first try LOLS]
[This is divine intervention.]
[But wait, gods do exist in this world. This is so rigged WTF]
[Honestly? Plausible.]
[Starting today, I’m a devout follower of Neltarid.]
[Neltarid hath spoken. Let there be camera stream.]
“Damn you, Neltarid!!!” she screamed in fury, prompting the chat to giggle even harder.
[Whoa, was that heresy I just heard...?]
[Careful now, Princess. That’s dangerous talk.]
“It wasn’t heresy!!”

‘I’m telling Dad on that dirty Neltarid!’
She vengefully thought to herself, unaware of just how the whole mess had spiraled so far.
However, who really stood out was Moderation. Instead of taking a break, he was still in her stream, stirring up the crowd to his side. Evangeline couldn’t help but wonder how she could kick the guy out for good.
He looked like a normal, good-looking guy, which made it hard to understand why he was bullying a small-time streamer like her.
Of course, she hadn’t yet understood what it really meant for a streamer who had only been streaming for a few days to effortlessly attract thousands of viewers.
The fact that she was the daughter of the Saint of Tionis was already more than enough to make her popular. With Awakened individuals having become the peak focus of social fascination, the Saint’s presence was beyond anything Evangeline could have imagined.
Sure, that pseudo-nepotism helped, but what she didn’t know was that many people were genuinely drawn to her personality. Many had even tuned in purely because of her phenomenal art skills.
She didn't have time to think about that, though.
She glared at the camera that was about to expose her face. Reflected in the black lens she could see her own eyes and the little horns atop her head.
If she turned her camera on, there’d be no point in saying she wasn’t Evangeline O’Rowane anymore.
“Wha—?! Oops!”
Perhaps that was why she instinctively swatted the camera, knocking it off the desk and onto the floor, shattering it.
“Oh geez, that’s too bad. T-The camera! It broke!”
It was a pathetic little ploy, and obviously wasn’t going to work.
[Freeze. Is this a cash grab escape move?]
[
Oho?
Our boss is crossing the line with us.]
“J-Just give me a second!”
Flustered, her drawing hand slipped, ruining the sketch. Anyone could see it was a mess, and if she didn’t fix it, it’d be a total loss. Yet Evangeline, apparently in some kind of trance or flow state, didn’t correct the mistake. Instead, she adjusted the composition, and before anyone knew it, the drawing turned into something amazing.
[No way. She just changed the layout and made it work without even fixing it??]
[The dad rules the world with brute force, and the daughter’s out here trying to conquer it with art.]
Reading the chat, Evangeline paused to think and then suddenly shouted, “Time out!”
[You have our respect.]
She exhaled sharply at the clean response and scrunched her face. She clearly wasn’t thrilled. Honestly, she was scared. She couldn’t shake the fear that the people being so kind to her in chat might change if they saw her real self.
What other people said and what she felt were different things, especially when it involved thousands of people.
‘So this is the kind of pressure Dad just brushes off all the time...’
She quietly closed her eyes and remembered how she used to yell that she hated him; always complained about the smell of alcohol; and acted like a brat. Despite being the victim of those antics, every time he saw her, he still smiled and called her cute. When she pouted, he’d get all gloomy and sad too.
Looking back, he seemed like such a big and gracious person to her. Whatever she had done had all just been childish whining, and she hadn’t been blind to how much effort Davey put into caring for her.
‘Yeah, I can’t hide forever.’
Taking a deep breath, she said, “Alright, I’m ready.”
[Cool. Now explain what happened with the camera thing.]
[Explain yourself.]
The moment she saw the chat, Evangeline’s eyes started spinning in a panic. “S-Second time-out!!!”
[Respect.]
‘Stop respecting!! Geez!!’
She screamed that inside her head.
* * *
“So, to put it simply, the reason there's a gap between Evangeline's physical body and her power is because she's of mixed heritage and blood,” Davey said, sprawled out flat on his stomach with Illyna sitting on top of him.
Despite him just trying to move one single finger, Perserque’s expression had already darkened. Seeing that, he figured staying still was the smart choice for the time being.
The three wouldn’t stand a chance against him in a physical confrontation. However, he had never had any intention of using force on the three, regardless of circumstances. He knew it wasn’t the most correct and victorious methodology for him to go with, yet it was the best he could come up with, so he’d follow through with his decision.
Now that everything was exposed, there was no helping it. Davey hadn’t expected Super Ribbon to run to them first and spill everything instead of confronting him directly.
With her personality, she should’ve come straight to him. Even Aeria looked at him like he’d gone too far, having heard what Super Ribbon had told them.
Cold sweat trickled down his back. He felt like he was about to get whacked in the head.
In the chilly atmosphere, Davey began explaining what he had planned. “The dark priest from the silence gate is made of the energy of spiritual entities. Its assimilation rate with Evangeline is extremely high, yet the dark priest of the silence gate isn’t originally a monster. It's part of a beneficial system for order.”
Normally, it wouldn't be usable as a stepping stone for Evangeline’s growth.
However, things had somehow changed when the creature suddenly went rogue and began rampaging. Conveniently enough, thanks to Neltarid, Davey now had a legitimate reason to deal with the volatile monster. He figured he might as well use that opportunity to help Evangeline grow in a more stable way.
The issue was that even though the dark priest was strong, it was no match for an Evangeline, who had already gone through her second growth spurt.
It was ridiculous to think a child not even five years old possessed power greater than a full-fledged dragon. Then again, given her bloodline, perhaps it was only natural.
“When she confronts that thing, she’ll have to use her own power. It’ll force her to learn how to control it.”
“She could get hurt,” Illyna said, lightly smacking him on the chest.
“You don’t trust me?” he asked, trying to sound innocent.
“Nope, not anymore.”
“Then trust me next time.”
“Does it have to be now? She’s still a child...”
“I’ve been watching the streams, too. We can’t leave her alone, and I already talked to Neltarid and set things up, so you don’t have to worry.”
His face turned serious, before he also dropped the bombshell of what he had discovered. “Right now, it’s only at the level where people’s interest in her amplifies the power, utilizing the affection within her. So it’s not a problem... yet.”
If Evangeline, a psychic-type ancient dragon, ever lost control of her powers and went berserk, it’d be a catastrophe.
“If it reaches the point where she can influence other people’s minds, and complete strangers start developing extreme affection toward her, what then?”
Sure, her stream would blow up, and she’d get to do the streams she loved with tons of people watching. However, if she ever found out those emotions were fake, that they were just artificially created affection, things would get out of control.
Illyna’s face darkened at the thought.
That was why Davey needed to help Evangeline get control over that power before things went too far.
Peace with the demons would sort itself out over time, but a problem with Evangeline was something he had to take care of personally.
He still couldn’t forget the moment she had been born. Though they weren’t related by blood, the bond they’d built meant more than family.
To him, it was something beyond even blood ties.
* * *
“Alright, that’s it for today’s drawing stream. Let’s take a break and do something else for a bit, and then we’ll come back to it, yeah?”
[Okay, but what about the camera?]
“What?! I told you—just wait a few days, okay?! Can’t you wait a few days?! I explained everything earlier!”
[Nope. Can’t wait. I’ll send you a camera if you want.]
“Moderation! Out!!”
[Moderation has been muted for 5 minutes.]
“That geezer definitely gets a kick out of bullying me!”
Her huffing and puffing only caused a flood of laughs to roll through the chat.
[Moderation in his twenties is crying rn LOL]
[Imagine being in your twenties and still getting called geezer LOL]
[Moderation, you a menace fr.]
[But wait, wasn’t Moderation, like, the original supporter of this stream? He’s basically a founding member.]
[True. Half the viewers here used to be his viewers.]
Since their stream times didn’t overlap much, viewers had happily bounced between the two, enjoying both.
“Just give me a few more days, please. I’ll go live with my camera once I’m really ready...”
[The roulette is spinning!]
[
Ding!
]
[Time to act cute! uwu :3]
Crunch.
[Did her teeth just grind?]
“
Grrr. Crunch!!
H-Haha...
Alright. W-What do you want me to do?”
[Pretty please, let’s go!]
[
Ohhh
sh—]
‘Pretty please...?’
Looking confused, Evangeline quickly looked it up. Her face instantly turned pale.
“Y-You want me to do that?!” she shrieked, panicking.
[What? You’re not gonna do it?]
[LMAO, you hit the wrong roulette today, and now you’re paying for it.]
The chat was in full chaos, enjoying watching her be flustered.
Bzzzt!!
Just then, her phone buzzed intensely. The caller was Chris Marten.
- Princess. Sorry, but can you join us right away? We’ve got a major incident. Somehow, Kouna ended up isolated inside a silence gate. You’re the only one who can see it right now, so we need your help.
Reading the message, her face froze.
[? What are you doing?]
[No acting cute? Seriously? You sure about that?
Huh?
I might donate again, you know?]
It was rare to see a stream where the viewers threatened the streamer with donations, but that was exactly what her stream was turning into. Unaware of what was really going on, all they did was pressure her even more.
However, after hearing about Kouna, she began to wonder what the point even was of hiding herself anymore.
Evangeline took a short, deep breath. “Sorry, but I’m ending the stream here. I’ll make it up to you later.”
[???]
[She just dipped?! Just like that?!]
[No way she really just did that.]
Even with their teasing comments flying across the screen, she quickly threw on a jacket and stood up.
“Someone’s trapped. I have to go... I’m the only one who can see it.”
[???]
“I can save them.”
She then shut the stream off, but not a single person in that chat could blame her.
Despite her lingering fears about whether it was okay to show her true identity, the truth was that there wasn’t a single viewer in that stream who didn’t already know exactly who she was.
As the ten second auto shutdown timer ticked down and the stream faded to black, the chat fell silent. Finally, someone spoke up just before the stream really ended.
[Her going to the rescue right away is why I’m a true Eva fan. That’s also why I support the Saint of Tionis.]
[Respect.]
That damn
respect
kept showing up in the chat.
