Chapter 518: Chapter 458 The Conclusion of Old Bai
Zhuo Yuqing looked at the clock in a daze, it was exactly two o’clock in the middle of the night, the world outside was quiet and peaceful, yet Bai Chengxi was not sleeping, instead sitting in front of the computer and fiddling with something.
Bai Chengxi was earnestly staring at the computer screen and didn’t notice when Zhuo Yuqing had approached until she asked, "What are you doing?" He looked up then.
He beckoned to her excitedly and said, "Come here."
"What’s it, I’m still sleepy, so tired." Zhuo Yuqing yawned, and reluctantly peeked her head over, saw that the computer screen was filled with densely packed characters, and upon looking closer she realized they were all names.
Bai Chengxi excitedly asked her, "These are the names I came up with, which two do you think are better? Choose one for a boy and one for a girl."
There were over forty names, and he even had a large dictionary lying next to him.
So he’s been up all night, busy choosing names for the baby.
Zhuo Yuqing felt a sudden twinge in her nose as she looked into his shining dark eyes, and couldn’t help but hug the tall man tightly.
Even though he did not show much excitement, that’s because he was inherently a low-key and reserved person. Even if his heart was elated, he wouldn’t show it strongly. In fact, Yuqing felt a tad disappointed not seeing him overjoyed, but it turned out he kept all his happiness bottled up inside.
Zhuo Yuqing felt both like crying and laughing, she hugged his neck and coquettishly said, "The baby is not even here yet, and you’re already so concerned."
"I like to plan ahead," Bai Chengxi responded as he lifted her to sit on his lap, "You choose one."
Zhuo Yuqing seriously looked at the names, each one chosen with care and even annotated with their meanings.
"I think they all sound nice," said Zhuo Yuqing, feeling a bit dazzled. She didn’t expect Bai Chengxi to be so attentive, and all the names he picked sounded beautiful.
The two had been choosing for over an hour and still hadn’t settled on two names. Finally, Zhuo Yuqing became sleepy, and then Bai Chengxi accompanied her to bed.
The news of Zhuo Yuqing being pregnant practically shook the entire Bai Family. Although the old lady didn’t directly tell her to resign from work and return home, she called three or four times a day with reminders.
Zhuo Yuqing knew the old lady was anxiously awaiting a grandchild, so she wasn’t the least bit irritated and obediently took the old lady’s advice to heart, even jotting it down in a notebook.
At noon, Zhuo Yuqing was planning to go to the cafeteria with Liu Lian, but then a delivery arrived. The exquisitely packaged box featured Xiangshan Club’s logo—there was no need to guess, it was certainly sent by Bai Chengxi. The grandmother had mentioned that outside food could be too dirty, so Bai Chengxi had Leng Shaoqing specially prepare a meal for her every day at noon, clean and with a nutritious balanced diet.
Bai Chengxi was very thoughtful, knowing that Zhuo Yuqing always dined with Liu Lian at noon, so he made sure there were portions for two.
Many colleagues in the office hadn’t eaten at Xiangshan Club before, as it was a members-only venue and didn’t accept reservations from the general public. Besides, the membership fees were quite steep, far beyond the reach of the average person.
"Wow, the meal boxes from Xiangshan are made of wood, they look very upscale," the colleagues who hadn’t tasted Xiangshan’s food gathered around, marveling at the food boxes as if they had found a new world.
Today’s delivery just happened to be crab yellow buns, and Zhuo Yuqing distributed one to each person. Everyone was reluctant to receive them, fearing she wouldn’t have enough to eat. But after much insistence, wanting to taste Xiangshan’s cooking, a scene unfolded in the office where five or six people gathered, each holding a crab yellow bun.
In the evening when work was over, Bai Chengxi personally came to pick Zhuo Yuqing up.
Zhuo Yuqing and Liu Lian had just stepped out of the magazine company when she saw his car parked not far away on the roadside, the car window half-opened, with Bai Chengxi looking down at his phone. Seemingly sensing her presence, he turned his head toward her.
Liu Lian teased, "Ever since you got pregnant, your husband seems like he can’t wait to stick by your side."
After parting ways with Liu Lian, Zhuo Yuqing got into the car, Bai Chengxi handed her a bag, "Have something to eat."
Inside the bag was a freshly baked banana cake, wafting a delicious fragrance as soon as it was opened.
Bai Chengxi knew she got hungry easily now, always managing to produce something tasty right when she started to feel peckish.
Zhuo Yuqing, nibbling on the fragrant cake, suddenly thought of a question, and with a pout, she spoke in a somewhat displeased manner, "Bai Chengxi, are you being so nice to me just because of the baby?"
Bai Chengxi, who was taking out a handkerchief to wipe the corner of her mouth, heard her say this and couldn’t help but chuckle softly, "Who told you that? It’s the baby who’s benefiting from your light."
