Chapter 542

Chapter 542: Chapter 476 Absolutely Not Peeping
Mu Chenxi didn’t initially realize that Luo Shangqing was calling her. Only after he had knocked three times did she finally jump up from the sofa, scurrying over in a hurry: "Professor Luo, did you call me?"
Luo Shangqing was still in the bathroom. A faint silhouette was visible on the frosted glass. Worried that she wouldn’t hear him, he spoke closer to the door: "My towel is on the balcony, please fetch it for me."
Today the housecleaner had washed all his towels and hung them out to dry. He didn’t notice when he came in, only remembering after his shower when he went to look for a towel.
Mu Chenxi immediately ran to the balcony, and indeed there were several white towels hanging on the clothes rack. She grabbed one and returned to the front of the bathroom. Although she coveted the male god’s physique, she didn’t have the guts to act on it.
After hanging the towel on the doorknob, Mu Chenxi knocked on the door: "Professor Luo, I’ve put the towel here..."
Before she finished speaking, the door was pulled open a crack. A wave of steam wafted out, followed by the sight of Luo Shangqing’s half-exposed shoulder and his slender arm. He smoothly grabbed the towel and glanced at her: "Thanks."
After the bathroom door closed again, Mu Chenxi was still in shock,
Only when she turned around did she realize how hot her face felt. When she touched it, her skin was burning.
She hurriedly ran to the kitchen, poured a cup of cold water, and gulped it down to cool her heated face. She had always been weak to handsome men, let alone to Professor Luo, whom she had admired for two years.
Mu Chenxi spaced out for quite a while, until a hand reached out beside her and took the water cup from the table. She suddenly turned around, her mouth trembling a bit: "Pro, Professor Luo."
Luo Shangqing had put on a set of dark gray home clothes and had already dried his hair. He was drinking from the water cup, taking a few sips before putting it down, and glanced at a flustered Mu Chenxi: "The bedroom to the east, you can stay there for the next few days. There are new bedding in the closet."
"Professor Luo, I can’t thank you enough," Mu Chenxi said as she performed a fist salute, "I will definitely repay you when I have the chance."
Luo Shangqing chuckled: "You’ve been reading too many wuxia novels. Go wash up and sleep."
Mu Chenxi giggled twice, clutching the new items she bought from the supermarket as she entered the room to the east. Just as she stretched out her hand to push the door, she heard Luo Shangqing’s somewhat helpless voice: "Mu Chenxi, which side is east?"
"Uh?" Mu Chenxi paused for a moment, then earnestly pointed out, "North above, south below, west to the left, east to the right. This is right, so it should be east."
Luo Shangqing couldn’t help feeling hopeless over such a lack of directional sense. He strode over, grabbed the back of her clothing, and flung her towards the door across, as if he was picking up a chick: "Your geography teacher would die of frustration if they knew."
Mu Chenxi, feeling embarrassed, scratched her head and watched longingly as Luo Shangqing entered the room she had just tried to enter, realizing that it was actually his bedroom.
Mu Chenxi had barely changed into her pajamas when she received a call from Luo Meijuan, inquiring how she was doing at home, whether she was eating on time, and most importantly, if she was taking good care of Kong Tai.
While unwrapping the toothbrush packaging, Mu Chenxi answered the phone perfunctorily with her chin and shoulder, as Kong Tai was dozing off in bed.
"Remember to lock the door from the inside before going to sleep. Twist that lock three times, and then insert the key in the keyhole. With that, even a deity couldn’t open it from the outside." Ever since a burglar broke into their house, Luo Meijuan had become extremely paranoid, changing to an ultra-secure lock and having to check the doors and windows three times before she could sleep peacefully.
"Got it," Mu Chenxi said, removing the tag from her pajamas, "How is uncle doing?"
Luo Meijuan sighed: "He had already passed away by the time we got there today. We didn’t manage to see my brother for the last time. He kept mentioning your father’s name before he passed away, saying he was sorry to our family for borrowing so much money without repaying anything. Sigh, now that he’s gone, all past grudges are no longer important. As for the money, we have no intention of demanding it back."
Luo Meijuan continued to ramble on for quite a while before hanging up.
Mu Chenxi had never met this uncle, but blood is thicker than water, and it would be a lie to say she wasn’t saddened. Moreover, she felt sorry for Mu Kaihua; he deeply valued family ties, and despite any animosity between brothers, he was always sincerely kind to others. Now that his uncle had passed away, he must be very upset.
Mu Chenxi bathed with Kong Tai, who always hated being put in water. Bathing him was like having a fight, and it took a great effort to rinse off all the lather from his body. Mu Chenxi got splashed all over with water too.
Normally, the technically challenging task of bathing was handled by Luo Meijuan. If it weren’t for considering Professor Luo’s obsession with cleanliness and his possible dislike for cat hair, she wouldn’t have bothered with such effort to bathe this fat cat.
It was only after both person and cat had cleaned up that Mu Chenxi realized there wasn’t a hairdryer in the bathroom. Her hair could just be blotted dry, but if Kong Tai’s fur wasn’t thoroughly blown dry, he’d dirtied the room in no time with his hopping around.
Mu Chenxi thought there must be a hairdryer in the main bathroom outside, so she temporarily shut Kong Tai in the bathroom and went searching for the hairdryer in her slippers.
The light in the main bathroom was on, and without much thought, she pushed the door and entered, only to see a tall figure standing with his back towards her while the sound of the toilet flushing resonated.
Luo Shangqing wasn’t expecting someone to burst in either, but he calmly adjusted his pants before turning around, only to find a petrified Mu Chenxi.
He was used to living alone, and although there was a bathroom in his bedroom, he went to the main one after getting a drink of water and didn’t lock the door, not anticipating this little girl would walk in on him.
Mu Chenxi’s brain froze for quite a while, and only when she caught Luo Shangqing’s teasing gaze did she hurriedly step back. There was a threshold at the bathroom door which she failed to notice, tripping over it and landing on her butt on the floor outside with a hiss of pain.
Luo Shangqing approached, a smile full of amusement spread across his face as he threw four words at her: "Guilty conscience much?"
Mu Chenxi cried injustice; she really hadn’t meant to barge in without knocking, nor did she expect him to be in the middle of that... His bedroom has a bathroom too, which she had noticed during her previous visit.
"I... I..." Mu Chenxi was now in a situation where even a hundred mouths couldn’t explain it away, looking as if she was playing the victim, her face turning so red it seemed like it could drip blood.
Luo Shangqing watched her looking utterly embarrassed and couldn’t help but laugh, extending a hand in front of her: "Get up, don’t you mind the cold floor?"
Mu Chenxi quickly nodded: "Is there?"
Luo Shangqing didn’t respond but turned around, found the hairdryer in the bathroom cabinet, and handed it to her, not forgetting to tease: "Remember to knock next time."
"Get ready and have breakfast."
"I saw noodles in the fridge yesterday, Professor Luo, if you don’t mind, I can cook some for you," Mu Chenxi cautiously looked his way, but after just one glance she quickly averted her eyes, feeling "guilty" as he put it.
"You can cook noodles?" Luo Shangqing seemed to have underestimated her. He knew her family was quite wealthy and a girl of her age who lived in such pampered circumstances likely wouldn’t know the slightest about cooking.
Mu Chenxi quickly clarified: "I can only cook noodles, nothing else."
Luo Shangqing glanced at his watch: "Alright then."
Mu Chenxi, with his consent, immediately rolled up her sleeves and got busy.
In the fridge, besides frozen noodles, there were some frozen seafood. She guessed that Luo Shangqing probably didn’t cook often at home, otherwise, there would have at least been some vegetables.
Soon, Mu Chenxi served two bowls of noodles; without any greens, she utilized what was available and made a bowl of seafood noodles with chewy strands paired with prawns and pieces of sea cucumber, a smell so tantalizing it whetted one’s appetite.
Luo Shangqing sat down at the dining table, somewhat incredulous that these appetizing noodles were made by this young girl, fearing they’d only be a feast for the eyes.
Mu Chenxi wiped her hands on the apron, cheerfully pressed him: "Professor Luo, please try it and see how it tastes."
Luo Shangqing picked up some noodles with the chopsticks on his side and put them into his mouth, a trace of surprise crossing his face. Contrary to his expectations, they were as good as they looked.
Mu Chenxi also sat opposite him and started eating, chatting as she ate: "When I was little, my parents were always busy with work and often left me alone at home. When I couldn’t bear the hunger, I had to cook for myself. I never learned to cook properly, but I mastered noodle cooking to perfection. I’ve cooked a few times in the dorms, and Susu and the others all say I’m a culinary god."
Luo Shangqing nearly burst out laughing, this girl proclaiming herself a culinary god for merely being able to cook noodles; If she learned a few more dishes, she’d be boasting to the heavens.
"Professor Luo, you haven’t said whether it’s tasty or not?" Mu Chenxi asked expectantly.
Luo Shangqing answered her with the clean bowl he had eaten from, and as he got up, he reminded her: "Make this again tomorrow morning."
