The Slime Doesn't Die from Mana Transfer-Chapter 32 : Demon Seed

Chapter 32

The hurled axe whistled through the air, aimed straight at Anna’s head!
In that instant, her life flashed before her eyes.
“I don’t want to die…”
She couldn’t die. She had to live—she had to make it back alive!
Anna twisted her body with every ounce of strength she had left, flinging her hand at the incoming axe.
Shhhk!
An invisible blade of wind shot forth, colliding midair with the axe.
Thump!
The weapon spun away, burying itself in the snow and spraying up white powder.
Alive?
Anna barely had time to take a breath of relief—when suddenly the snow beneath her surged and writhed.
Shhhk-shhhk-shhhk!
Pale-blue, wet and icy tentacles burst forth like venomous serpents from beneath the snow, from behind trees, even from Rozelite’s back, all lashing toward Anna from every direction.
“Damn it!”
Her face went pale. Her wings beat frantically.
She darted and weaved like a leaf in the wind, moving so fast she left afterimages behind.
But the tentacle locked around her ankle dragged her back down each time she tried to escape.
Every dodge, every desperate burst of speed, was like moving with an iron weight shackled to her body.
And then—one more tentacle lashed from her blind spot.
Snap!
Her wrist was seized in that cold grip. Before she could react—her other wrist too!
The ankle restraint suddenly yanked hard, pulling her violently backward.
Bang!
She lost balance instantly, dragged off her feet and slammed against a tree trunk with bone-rattling force. Snow rained down from the canopy, and her already weakened body trembled as if it had lost all strength.
Before she could recover from the impact, more tentacles slithered up and around her. Like living chains, they wrapped her arms and legs, stretching her in the shape of a cross, pinning her to the freezing trunk. They bit deep into her flesh, squeezing until her bones creaked.
Terror consumed her expression.
She saw “Rozelite” walking toward her.
Her chest wound had been patched by shapeshifted tentacles, though the red stain on her clothes told of the near-fatal strike. Her once-clear blue eyes now burned only with fury.
Anger.
Rage blazed hotter and hotter in Russell’s chest.
Ever since becoming a slime, his emotions had dulled, as if nothing could shake his calm analysis. But this time, the only thing he felt was uncontrollable wrath.
Was it because of the ambush? Or because Rozelite had been injured under his watch?
It didn’t matter.
All that mattered now was making this girl pay.
He stopped before Anna, tilting his head slightly to look at her fear-twisted face.
No words.
Her delicate throat was seized in Rozelite’s slender hand.
“Die,” Russell whispered.
Crack-crack—
Those delicate fingers erupted with terrifying strength, digging deep into the soft skin of her neck.
Anna was lifted off the ground, kicking helplessly, like a chicken strangled by the neck.
Her scarlet eyes filled with shock and horror. Her slim body convulsed like a fish out of water. Limbs bound, she twisted frantically in vain. Her youthful, pretty features contorted into something grotesque.
She choked out in fury, “Let me go! Let me—”
Thud!
“Rozelite’s” fist slammed into her gut.
Boom!
The blow stole her voice instantly.
Pain exploded through her body like wildfire. Her mouth opened in a silent scream. Spit dribbled down her chin. Tears streamed from her eyes as the agony blinded her. Her vision dimmed from suffocating lack of air.
A warm stream trickled down her trembling legs, soaking her torn white dress.
She squeezed out broken, gasping pleas:
“Please… sp-spare… me…”
“I don’t want…”
“to die…”
Russell didn’t move.
But just before she slipped into unconsciousness, he suddenly released her.
Thump!
Her body collapsed like a ragdoll into the snow.
Her lungs burned as she hacked up bloody phlegm, curling into herself like a shrimp, wracked with violent coughing and retching. Every spasm tore at her chest and throat, but still she gasped desperately for air.
Her breath rasped like a bellows, each inhale a mix of sobbing and whimpering. Drool and tears streamed freely down her face. She shuddered uncontrollably, too weak to move, her body wrecked by terror and pain—living only through primal, greedy breaths.
Russell stared down at her quivering body, his fingers still tingling with the memory of her throat.
He crouched beside her, speaking softly.
“On second thought, killing you like this would be far too easy.”
“Better to use you to test my new skill.”
“N-no…”
Anna’s eyes widened in horror.
Then she saw it—
A pale-blue tentacle slid from Rozelite’s sleeve.
It rammed straight into her throat.
Anna froze, her body trembling violently as burning pain erupted from within.
Her face turned deathly pale.
And then, from deep inside her body, a scorching agony like fire spread.
