Chapter 551: Chapter 551: She is the Howard Family’s Great-Granddaughter, Her Father is Ignatius Leclair, Heir to the South Seas Leclair Mansion
Cassius Turner carried a box of fruits into the courtyard, only to see Delphine standing by the windowsill, lost in thought. The young, slender woman had delicate, fair features, her beauty tranquil like still water.
The refined, fair-skinned young professor had been delivering items to the courtyard daily in recent days. They were not expensive gifts, only imported foods and fruits. In an effort to reduce the class disparity between them, Wilbur Turner made a point of personally carrying the deliveries himself.
"Professor Turner, there’s really no need to bring anything next time you come." Delphine frowned slightly as she noticed Cassius bringing more items. She was already deeply indebted to him.
Cassius set the fruit down inside the house, smiling as he said, "If I don’t bring fruits, how could I have the nerve to come and freeload a meal?"
Wilbur Turner was smooth and tactful in how he conducted himself. Over the past days, he appeared to be merely coming for meals, spending most of his time with Nicholas Carter. He would leave promptly after eating, never overstaying his welcome. He interacted with both Delphine and Nicholas in a purely friendly manner, without any ulterior motives, successfully disarming Delphine’s guarded attitude toward the opposite sex.
As soon as Cassius arrived, two small heads peeked out of a room, chirping excitedly as they rushed over.
"Uncle Turner, did you bring us something delicious again?"
"Uncle Turner, this is Benjamin, my best friend."
"Benjamin, this is the super awesome professor uncle I told you about."
Cassius’s smile slowly faded as he caught sight of Benjamin Leclair standing behind Nicholas Carter. His brows furrowed. Wasn’t this Benjamin Leclair, the Howard Family’s little princess?
The man’s gaze turned sharp. The Howard Family cherished this little princess more than anything else—why was she here? And with no adults in sight? Seeing how close the two children were, he immediately understood.
Benjamin also recognized this uncle who had visited the Howard Family once and had a good relationship with Yeats Howard. Her lips pursed unhappily as she tugged at Nicholas’s clothes and whispered softly, "I need to go home now, Nicholas."
It was better to leave on her own now than wait for Daddy to come looking for her and spank her.
Benjamin decided she would go to her great-grandmother’s house; with her great-grandmother protecting her, Daddy wouldn’t dare spank her.
Nicholas’s smile instantly drooped as he reluctantly held onto Benjamin.
"You’re leaving already, Benjamin?" Delphine felt a sudden pang of melancholy upon hearing the little girl was leaving. She bent down to embrace the child.
"I’ll come back to play next time," Benjamin murmured, burying her small head in Delphine’s arms, rubbing against her. She smelled of Mom—soft, warm, and fragrant.
If Daddy wanted to find her a new mom, Benjamin would rather have Nicholas’s mom. Yet, the little girl felt troubled again; she still wanted her own mom.
Should she choose her own mom or Nicholas’s mom? The little girl wrestled with her thoughts internally.
Cassius stepped aside and made a call to Yeats Howard. Then, turning back to the room with one adult and two children, he couldn’t help but feel something inexplicably harmonious about the scene—as though these three had always been meant to be together.
"I just informed the Howard Family. Benjamin Leclair’s identity is quite unusual. I’ll bring her back myself." Cassius spoke softly to Delphine.
Delphine’s body stiffened abruptly upon hearing this. Benjamin Leclair? The Howard Family? Her face turned ashen as she clutched Cassius’s hand tightly, her voice urgent and hoarse as she asked, "What did you call her? Is her last name Leclair?"
It was the first time Cassius saw her so emotionally intense. He immediately reached out to steady her, his gaze darkening as he answered, "She’s the great-granddaughter of the Imperial City’s Howard Family. Her father is Ignatius Leclair, the heir to the Nanyang Leclair estate."
