Chapter 597: Chapter 597: The man enjoys his dinner elegantly like a master
Delphine walked over and saw Ignatius Leclair’s face looking extremely unwell. His pallor revealed signs of serious illness; he was so sick he couldn’t even hold a water cup.
"Don’t move. Wait for the servants to clean up. Just help me to the bed," the man said in a low, hoarse voice, his brows tightly furrowed.
Delphine paused for a moment, but Ignatius had already reached out and gripped her wrist. Using her as support, he stood up and half-draped himself over her shoulder, letting his entire weight press against her.
Seeing that he couldn’t even stand steadily, Delphine didn’t push him away. She had no choice but to endure and help him to the bed.
The man lowered his gaze to her delicate, fair features. His eyes lingered on her beautiful butterfly-shaped collarbones for a moment, inexplicably feeling some delight. Was this fragile little frame really expecting to support the weight of a grown man?
Delphine felt the man’s weight pressing more heavily against her, making it hard for her to catch her breath.
Benjamin Leclair came running over, bouncing happily. Tilting his little face up, he sweetly asked, "Daddy, Mommy, Benjamin wants to play too!"
Without waiting for a response, Benjamin hugged Delphine’s leg directly, a soft and tiny bundle of innocence with wide, guileless eyes staring at his stiffened parents.
Ignatius’s face darkened. His phoenix-shaped eyes narrowed, and he almost wanted to throw the little rascal out.
Delphine, out of patience, pushed Ignatius forward, picked up Benjamin, and fled in panic.
The cunning boss who was shoved onto the bed felt that the warmth and softness in his grasp had suddenly transformed into cold emptiness. His expression grew stormy.
Never mind. Tomorrow, I’ll pick Benjamin up and see her again.
By the time I see her again, this illness should be mostly cured, the man thought to himself. After all, everything has its shelf life; once the novelty wears off, it stops being new.
By the next evening, when Ignatius went to the kindergarten to pick up Benjamin and Nicholas, the teacher informed him that both Nicholas Carter and little Benjamin Leclair had taken leave.
Ignatius’s phoenix-shaped eyes narrowed. His face turned cold as he drove to the small villa.
At the villa, Desmond Wood and Kyla Zamora were busy to the point of exhaustion. When the takeout delivery arrived, Desmond saw a black Rolls-Royce pull up directly to the villa’s entrance, with the security guards not even daring to stop it.
Ignatius stepped out of the car, towering above, casting a detached glance at Desmond before heading into the villa.
Desmond shuddered, nearly dropping the takeout in his hands. Instinctively, he wanted to run but stopped short when he noticed his flip-flops and baggy pants. With tears in his eyes, he followed Ignatius into the villa.
The man surveyed the chaotic mess of the downstairs living room, his sharp brows deeply furrowing. Kyla, with her disheveled, bedhead hair, came out just in time, intending to ask about her takeout. Spotting the aristocratic, elegant man standing in the living room, she froze, forcing a smile as she stammered, "Mr. Leclair, what brings you here? Are you looking for Delphine? She’s taken Nicholas and Benjamin to the amusement park."
"Professor Lucas went with them," Desmond added belatedly, delivering another blow.
Ignatius’s phoenix eyes darkened slightly. Slowly and deliberately, he asked, "Ms. Zamora and Mr. Wood live here?"
His tone was arrogant and indifferent, carrying an innate sense of disdain.
Kyla and Desmond quickly shook their heads, standing stiffly like chastised schoolchildren, not daring to move.
The man narrowed his eyes and immediately made a phone call. Half an hour later, a cleaning lady, a Michelin-starred chef, and the gardener showed up.
In no time, the living room was transformed into a sparkling, spotless space, while the two small gardens outside had been pruned to perfection. The Michelin chef served up the freshest and most delicious dinner.
The man sat at the dining table, enjoying his meal like a master of the house, his movements extraordinarily elegant.
