Chapter 611: Chapter 611: It Would Be Terrible if Things Developed in a Romantic Way
Delphine was able to get out of bed by the second day. Apart from avoiding strenuous movements, everything else was normal; she only needed to remain in the hospital for observation.
The crew rushed back to the Imperial City and came to visit her early in the morning. The room was crowded with a throng of people, but after barely exchanging five sentences, they were overwhelmed by the oppressive aura of the icy man who had just returned. Soon, they scattered in retreat.
Delphine seized the moment when Ignatius Leclair stepped out and got up to visit Cassius Turner.
Cassius had already been moved to the intensive care unit. He had just recently regained consciousness. When Delphine asked about the room, the Land Family was all gathered inside. The door was slightly ajar. Mrs. Land was choking back tears as she said, "You foolish child, how could you go to such a perilous place? I know you care deeply about that girl, but it was hardly worth risking your life over."
"Although you’re not the eldest, you’re still the second son of the Land Family. Your marriage can’t be taken lightly either. That Miss Gu already has a child. If she does end up marrying into this family, the rumors and gossip will be endless. Have you even thought about that?" Mr. Land said angrily.
Cassius gave a frail, faint laugh. "I’ve thought about it. In the Imperial City, everyone knows Wilbur and the Demon King Hun from the Howard Family are two of a kind. Honestly, compared to her, I’m the one who falls short."
"But I heard her ex-husband is quite influential and has ties to the Howard Family. Do you know who he is?" Mrs. Land chattered on about those rumors, softly crying again as she noticed her son’s injuries. "But don’t let this cause trouble with the Howard Family. That girl is pitiable, she seems decent, but sadly, she’s divorced and has a child."
"You should say less. Nothing’s set in stone yet." Mr. Land growled in a low voice. "Forget all that; the real problem is her involvement in the Entertainment Sector—such a chaotic circle."
Initially intending to enter the room, Delphine stopped upon hearing these words and quietly turned around to leave. After taking a few steps, she noticed the man waiting in silence ahead.
He had long anticipated that she would come to see Cassius. After the incident, that Wilbur had become someone special to her.
Suppressing the anger brewing inside, Ignatius Leclair approached her with an expressionless face and said, "Cassius just woke up. His family is bound to gather around him. It’d be inappropriate for you, an outsider, to visit."
Delphine merely wanted to check on his injuries. Hearing that his family was with him and his voice earlier in the room, she felt somewhat reassured and calmly replied, "Regardless of everything, he saved my life. I won’t feel at ease until I personally confirm that he’s alright."
Ignatius’s face darkened slightly. Maximilian, who had followed closely behind, hesitated for a moment as if on the verge of speaking. He almost wanted to say, "The one who saved you, along with Cassius, was Mr. Leclair."
Given those circumstances, even the rescue teams wouldn’t have been as effective as the people Ignatius brought with him. Not just in the Highland Region, but even in the Palestine-Israel Region, Ignatius had trailed behind her step by step. He simply chose to remain silent about it.
Maximilian sighed softly, unable to fathom the dynamics between Mr. Leclair and Miss Delphine. Choosing to hold his tongue entirely seemed wise.
"Your father was unable to keep things under wraps. He mentioned bringing over Benjamin and Nicholas to visit you at the hospital," Ignatius said, steering her attention away from the Land Family. Thankfully, there were still her two little ones.
As the man mused, Benjamin’s supply of lollipops must remain uninterrupted. With that little clingy darling around, Wilbur could forget any hopes he harbored.
Cassius had always regarded Delphine with knowing eyes, and now, with her heart filled with gratitude for him, if their feelings continued to develop, things would surely spiral out of control.
Ignatius narrowed his phoenix-like eyes, deep and calculating. This budding connection had to be extinguished at its source.
