Chapter 612: Chapter 612: Seeing This Woman
In the evening, Benjamin and Nicholas followed their grandfather to the hospital. As soon as the two little ones entered the ward, they rushed to hold Delphine, one on each side.
Nicholas simply used his dark, large eyes to gaze worryingly at his mommy, while Benjamin cried out in his high-pitched voice, "Mommy, does it hurt? Benjamin will kiss it better!"
Ignatius lifted the little one, supporting the soft and dainty body of the girl with his arm, and said in a deep voice, "Don’t climb on Mommy. You’re as heavy as a little pig."
Benjamin, who had just been embracing his fragrant and soft mommy moments ago, suddenly found herself hoisted up and perched on Ignatius’s firm arm, being scolded as a little pig. Her big eyes instantly brimmed with tears—she must be adopted!
"Even if Benjamin is a little pig, she’s still the cutest and slimmest little pig," Delphine said with a tender smile, seeing Benjamin’s pouty and aggrieved expression that showed she wanted to cry but dared not.
"Are there slim little pigs?" Benjamin slid down from her daddy’s arm, jogged back to cling onto Delphine, lifted her little face, and asked.
Delphine chuckled. Right now, she was too weak to hold this slim little pig, so she smiled warmly and said, "There are."
At the side, Nicholas grinned, his large eyes curving happily. It was only then that Benjamin realized she’d been tricked. Everyone in the room burst into laughter.
Delphine chatted with the two children about the experiences she had while filming. Occasionally, she glanced up and saw Ignatius conversing cheerfully with her father, causing her to pause in mild surprise.
Years ago, her father greatly admired Ignatius’s capabilities. But as a son-in-law, Ignatius scored a negative mark in every way, leaving her father with a lingering resentment. Yet, during the time she had spent acting, Ignatius somehow managed to make her father set aside his disapproval of him.
After chatting with the children for a while, Delphine grew a bit tired. Ignatius noticed this immediately and whisked the two little ones out of the room.
Delphine exchanged a few words with her father, learning that everything was fine, and she felt reassured.
That night, Ignatius stayed at the hospital once again. If on the first night Delphine had still been somewhat dazed about it, by the second night, she began to sense that something was amiss.
Who was Ignatius? The most distinguished, powerfully influential heir of the South Seas’ elite family. A man so ruthless and indifferent that he had even dethroned his own biological father, exiling him to remote provinces. A man who knew nothing but how to enforce his will—domineering and dictatorial to an outrageous extent. And now, he had stayed by her hospital bed for two nights in a row?
Delphine’s entire sense of alarm suddenly erupted. Her pitch-black, gem-like eyes stared silently at the man who just entered the ward.
Ignatius noticed her delicate shoulders stiffen, her face unnaturally pale like translucent porcelain. Her dark, clear eyes stared intently at him without distraction. His handsome features remained unreadable, yet even he found it ridiculous: that he would keep vigil over a woman without rest, feeling uneasy unless he saw her; yet seeing her only unsettled him further, stirring in him an irresistible desire to approach and be near her.
From the moment Magnus encountered Delphine, many things spiraled entirely out of Ignatius’s control. He could suppress his alternate personality, but the price was far greater than he had anticipated. He couldn’t discern if he had always favored women like her, or if it was solely because it was her that he liked.
From body to emotion, he needed this woman. Gazing at her pale and frail appearance inflamed a simultaneous urge to ruthlessly dominate her and to cherish her wholly.
Ignatius squinted his phoenix-shaped eyes, a flicker of unreadable emotion flashing within them. Perhaps desires only grow ampler? From the outset, it was merely an uncontrollable impulse to see this woman. Now that he had seen her, all he wanted was to possess her completely. But what happens after he’s taken her? He didn’t know. He only felt matters careening toward an unpredictable outcome—dangerous and beyond his grasp.
