Too Late to Love Her: When She Divorced, He Fell Apart-Chapter 24: How Soundproof Can a Hospital Room Be?

Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: How Soundproof Can a Hospital Room Be?
In other words, there’s no need for him, an outsider, to butt in.
Jenson smirked slightly, without much humor, and said, "You know she’s still your wife, so stop doing things that hurt her."
Tristan’s face changed slightly, "No matter what, it’s a domestic issue between her and me. Jenson, you shouldn’t be the one meddling."
"I really don’t want to interfere in your domestic affairs, but if you hurt her too deeply, don’t blame me for stepping in."
Jenson gave him a faint glance and then turned to leave.
Claire was already asleep by then, and when she woke up, she saw only Tristan in the hospital room. She frowned and asked, "Where’s Jenson?"
Tristan was sitting on a chair nearby, looking at his phone. Hearing her awaken, he got up and walked over, asking, "Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Claire didn’t want to pay him any attention and kept her mouth shut.
Tristan’s gaze swept over the back of her head, then he stepped out of the hospital room and returned shortly, carrying supplies to change her bandages.
His movements were swift, and his technique gentle, and Claire didn’t feel any pain.
"I heard you wanted to stitch me up yourself yesterday?" She suddenly asked lightly.
Tristan threw away the medical waste and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Don’t be too moved."
Claire: "Moved? You drank, took sedatives, and still wanted to enter the operating room; were you trying to save me or murder me?"
He froze, his eyebrow raised, speechless as he looked at her.
Claire felt a bit better after venting, and spoke more directly, "I heard everything you said in the private room."
Tristan didn’t intend to hide anything from her. He pulled a chair up and sat facing her, "Consider a divorce?"
"No consideration."
She answered without thinking, then felt a bit thirsty and added, "I want to drink water."
Tristan stood up, poured her a glass of water, and said, "Is this fun for you?"
Claire: "Seeing you unhappy is quite fun."
Tristan smirked subtly, leaned forward, and gently lifted her to sit upright, "If you can keep opposing me your whole life, that’s your skill."
"That’s not certain."
Claire leaned against his arm, took a sip of water, and said, "Maybe one day when I’m tired of it, I’ll set you free?"
Tristan pondered her words and turned to look into her eyes, "What if I don’t let you go?"
She paused for a moment, then looked away uncomfortably, saying, "I’ve drunk a bit too much water."
He immediately understood her meaning, and without saying a word, he leaned over and carried her into the bathroom.
Claire, having a concussion from being hit by a bottle, felt nauseous and gripped his shoulder tightly to avoid dizziness.
After placing her on the toilet, he said, "Go ahead."
Claire didn’t move, "Get out."
Tristan remained still, "You don’t need to be embarrassed, it’s not like I haven’t seen it before."
She glared at him suspiciously, "Have you watched me go to the bathroom before?"
She really hadn’t expected him to have such a perverted side.
Tristan hesitated, looked at her for a moment but said nothing, leaving as he said, "Call me if you need anything."
Claire was just finishing up inside, hadn’t flushed yet, when Tristan opened the door and walked back in.
She was startled and said with a strange expression, "How is your timing so precise?"
Could it really be that he has a habit of watching her bathroom visits and even recording the times?
Tristan carried her like a princess while heading back to the hospital bed, saying as he did, "Does the hospital room have any soundproofing?"
He spoke cryptically, but Claire understood what he meant and didn’t continue asking.
Once she settled back on the bed, he asked, "Did you see who hit you? Was it Kiara?"
She recalled the situation back then.
"The bottle seemed to have been smashed from above, with great force. Kiara is shorter than me and a girl; it probably wasn’t her."
"Are you sure?"
Sensing he was contemplating something, Claire asked, "What’s wrong?"
Tristan: "Your assistant, she indiscriminately attacked Kiara at the scene. If Kiara really is innocent, then Tina will be spending some time in jail."
Claire found it strange.
Though Tina is straightforward, she’s not thoughtless and wouldn’t start such a fight with Kiara without reason. Moreover, being a lawyer, Tina should understand the consequences of resorting to violence.
"Have you known Kiara for a long time?" She looked at Tristan and asked, "Has she always been so arrogant, or is this recent?"
Tristan thought for a moment; Kiara had seemed normal before, otherwise, he wouldn’t have agreed to her joining the surgery team.
He raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Nothing."
From his expression, Claire knew Kiara wasn’t always like this. However, she didn’t want to say more, as Kiara’s behavior might have been influenced by someone else—a theory she had and no evidence to talk about it openly.
"Do you have any ideas for Tina’s situation?" Claire asked Tristan.
He replied indifferently, "I won’t involve myself in someone irrelevant’s issues."
Tristan’s words were clear-cut. Claire thought about how he’s still trying to find Jade Sutton for her, so she didn’t plead further, but instead asked what was wrong with Nathan specifically.
She called Nathan, and it rang for a long time before he answered.
The noise on Nathan’s end was overwhelming, and Claire could hardly hear his voice.
"Sister-in-law, how’s your head?" Nathan seemed to have found a quiet spot; Claire heard the sound of a lighter sparking up.
Claire: "Nathan, I heard from Tristan that Tina might be detained at the police station for a while."
Nathan bit his cigarette, muttering an "uh-huh," "She injured Kiara. She’ll probably be held for half a month."
"Did Tina say why she acted out?"
Nathan paused for a moment, "Does it matter?"
Claire was taken aback.
Nathan flicked his ash into a nearby garbage can, took a drag, and said, "She attacked someone, and that’s wrong. When she gets out, make sure she personally apologizes to Kiara."
"Nathan!"
From the background, Kiara’s distant voice called out.
"Mom and Dad are looking for you, come quickly!"
Nathan replied, "I’m coming," then bid farewell to Claire before hanging up.
Seeing Claire’s expression, Tristan probably guessed something and said lightly, "The Quinns and the Vance Family have always been close. If Nathan can’t do anything about it, you shouldn’t waste your efforts."
Claire: "Tina isn’t the kind of person to casually resort to violence."
"Does it matter? She’s already hit Kiara, and the Vance Family has numerous ways to make things difficult for her. Legally detaining her for a few days is already a result of Nathan pulling strings."
