Chapter 55: The Little Mermaid Performance
He didn’t snap out of it until he heard the announcer’s voice.
Rong Zishan immediately opened his eyes and sat up straight. He was afraid to miss even a single second of the performance on stage.
On the other side, Rong Zhenqiao wasn’t as obvious as him, but his hand on his lap moved slightly and his once relaxed posture became tense again.
After thinking for a moment, Rong Zhenqiao took out a DSLR camera he had prepared earlier. He then lifted it to his face and started adjusting the focus toward the stage.
Rong Zishan was stunned.
He widened his eyes and swore under his breath, "Where the hell did that come from?! Why don’t you just bring a camcorder and record the whole thing?"
Rong Zhenqiao didn’t bother to answer him. He only said calmly, "Qibao Dwith School has professionals recording the entire show."
The meaning was clear, he would be able to get a complete video of Rong Xingyu’s performance later.
Rong Zishan went silent.
Thinking about how he came here with nothing but his own eyes, he realized he had been careless.
Just then, a narrator’s voice filled the stage.
"Far, far away in the deep ocean, where the water is as blue as the most beautiful cornflower and as clear as beautiful crystal.
It is so deep that no anchor chain can measure its depth.
Even if you stacked many church towers one on top of another, they still wouldn’t reach from the ocean floor to the surface.
That is where the Sea King and his people live."
The voice of the narrator was full of emotion.
As the stage curtain slowly opened, the play finally began.
"In the deepest part of the ocean stands the Sea King’s castle.
The walls are built of coral and the roof is covered with shells. They open and close with the flow of the sea, looking breathtakingly beautiful.
Each shell holds a shining pearl, perfect for making a crown for the queen.
But the Sea King’s queen had passed away long ago, leaving him with seven beautiful daughters."
When the curtain was fully drawn, the stage set was revealed.
The show truly lived up to its "lavishly funded" reputation.
The coral scenery and props on stage looked incredibly realistic and delicate.
Right from the start, the combination of narration and stunning stage design lifted the whole show’s atmosphere to the highest level.
The audience, who had already grown tired after watching several song and dance acts in a row, suddenly found themselves refreshed and eager for what was to come.
Not to mention the two Rong brothers, who were both just waiting for their younger brother to appear.
When the narrator mentioned that the Sea King had seven beautiful daughters, a few shadows began to move at the corner of the stage.
Rong Zishan leaned his arm against his chin, his gaze locked on the stage, not blinking even once.
When several figures stepped into the center of the stage, the top lights came on and shining directly on them.
The group of "mermaid princesses" was now completely revealed to the audience.
"Pffft!!!"
Rong Zishan who had been resting his chin on his hand suddenly lost his balance and almost fell forward.
He stared at the stage, at the "creatures" standing there and felt his whole mind explode.
What the hell... what was this group of things?!
Don’t tell him these were supposed to be mermaids???
Standing at the center of the stage was a line of young men with their faces carefully covered up with make up to make them look ’beautiful,’ but still none of them looked beautiful at all.
They’re tall, short, fat, thin, every shape and size.
There were exactly six of them, forming a perfect line of "male mermaids." Each one wore a big wavy wig and there’s no wigs that has the same color.
They had on sleeveless tops that exposed their shoulders and arms, and their lower halves were wrapped in shiny, tight sequin skirts shaped like fishtails.
Each of the skirt also matching with the color of the wig.
The most eye-catching one was the tallest man, his bronze muscles almost bursting through the costume.
Yet this whole spicy group of "mermaid" was twisting and posing dramatically on stage in rhythm with the narrator’s voice.
Rong Zishan: "..."
He felt like his eyes were about to go blind.
The rest of the audience reacted even louder than he did.
"Hahahahahaha what the hell!"
"Oh my God, my eyes! My eyes!"
"Don’t come any closer!"
"Damn it, did these mermaids mutated from nuclear waste?!"
"Ahhhhh Mom, I’m going to have nightmares tonight!!!"
...No matter how anyone saw it, the comedic effect of this act was definitely at its peak.
Rong Zishan closed his eyes for a few minutes, trying to calm himself down before gathering the courage to face the terrifying sight again.
He had to stay strong...
His little brother hadn’t appeared yet...
Wait.
Rong Zishan’s expression suddenly froze.
Could it be that his little brother wasn’t playing the prince at all... but another mermaid?!
The narrator’s voice then continued...
"...And among them, the most beautiful one was the youngest princess."
Rong Zishan swallowed his saliva hard and his heart suddenly become tense.
"His skin was smooth and soft, like the petals of a rose; his eyes were as deep as the darkest lake... but like the other princesses, he had no legs. His lower body was a beautiful shimmering tail."
On stage, the group of "mermaid" moved aside and pushed out a giant shell from behind.
Inside the shell, someone was sitting gracefully at its center.
Although it was still a bit dim, just from the outline, it was obvious, this was the youngest mermaid princess.
As the shell was slowly pushed into the center of the stage under the bright lights, the first thing that came into view was the outer edge of a fishtail.
This time, it wasn’t some tight sequin skirt, it was a real fishtail.
