Chapter 64: The Banquet Night
At a glance, people saw the eldest Rong brother standing with two young men beside him.
One was dressed in pure white, the other in deep blue black.
Both of them had tall figures and delicate handsome features.
Though their temperaments were quite different, both of them were undeniably striking.
In particular, the young man wearing the dark blue black suit caught everyone’s eye.
Even though he didn’t really resemble Rong Zhenqiao in appearance, his overall aura and calm presence seemed to match his elder brother’s far more naturally.
The guests couldn’t help but quietly admire: Look at the Rong family’s genes, every child is so outstanding. Even if you don’t mention anything else, at least they all look amazing.
The birthday banquet tonight was being held in the most prestigious hotel in the capital.
Every major family in the city had received a personal and formal invitation from the Rong family.
Even if they hadn’t, few of them would dare to decline their invitation. Giving the Rong family face was something everyone knew to do.
Because of that, tonight’s event was filled with more than just family and friends.
ers from news outlets, the family’s business partners, heirs and heiresses from powerful circles, and several influential figures from the capital’s elite society had all shown up.
A few of the old and well established families had even sent their younger members to attend as a sign of respect.
It was the first time the Rong family had ever hosted such a large scale celebration just for a birthday.
Naturally, this stirred speculation among the guests.
After all, the Rong family had always been known for keeping a low profile.
Even when the older sons reached adulthood, their celebrations were small and private gatherings with only a few friends.
As for birthdays, they had never been made public at all.
So, for the Rong family to host something of this grand scale now and spending their money lavishly while inviting nearly all of the capital’s upper circle was a statement in itself.
It was proof that their standing in the city remained solid and unshakable.
And the reason for such an extravagant event? It wasn’t far from what people were guessing.
Not long ago, the Rong family had found their long lost biological son, the one who had been switched at birth.
The other boy who had been raised by them for over ten years had been sent away.
The gossip about this incident had spread like wildfire among high society, twisting into more outrageous versions with every retelling.
And now, just a short while later, the Rong family had decided to throw a grand, public birthday banquet for both boys side by side.
This was without a doubt the Rong family’s way of telling everyone in their circle that whether by blood or by upbringing they treated both boys the same.
Even those who had originally thought the Rong family was just putting on a show quickly changed their minds after seeing how Rong Zhenqiao interacted with his two younger brothers.
In fact, some people even noticed that the one who wasn’t biologically related seemed to have a closer bond with the eldest brother.
Under the attentive gaze of the guests, Rong Zhenqiao walked up to the stage to give his speech.
After saying a few formal words, he let his eyes sweep over the crowd before stopping at his two younger brothers standing not far away.
His sharp gaze softened instantly.
"I’m very grateful to my parents," he began, his voice deep and steady. "They gave me the most precious people in my life, my blood brothers. But I’m also thankful to fate, because it gave me another priceless gift, my other brother, Rong Xingyu."
When Rong Xingyu heard his own name, he looked up and met Rong Zhenqiao’s eyes across the room.
So... in his eyes, I’m a gift from fate?
Rong Zhenqiao smiled at him, then walked over and reaching out to take his hand.
With one hand holding Rong Xingyu’s and the other gently resting on Rong Zhihao’s shoulder, he led the two of them toward the center of the stage.
A massive ten tier cake was rolled out before them.
As the melody of "Happy Birthday" filled the hall, Rong Xingyu and Rong Zhihao each took hold of the cake knife and, together, made the first ceremonial cut at the top layer.
"Happy birthday," Rong Zhenqiao said warmly, his usual cold and businesslike expression replaced by a rare and genuine smile.
The guests below began to applaud enthusiastically.
The short ceremony ended quickly, and the banquet carried on with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses. But one of the evening’s main stars, Rong Xingyu, quietly slipped away.
He sat on a sofa in a quiet corner of the hall with a small plate with a slice of cake resting on his lap.
For a while, he simply looked at it, lost in thought, before finally lifting his fork and taking a bite.
The cake had been made with the finest ingredients.
The rich cream melted smoothly on his tongue, it was sweet and delicate.
Rong Xingyu’s eyes curved slightly as he smiled to himself.
Just as he was quietly enjoying the sweetness, Rong Zhihao suddenly appeared.
He walked right over and sat down beside Rong Xingyu, his movements casual and overly familiar.
He then put one of hisarm draping around Rong Xingyu’s shoulders.
"Why are you sitting here all by yourself?" he asked brightly. "Aren’t you going to hang out with your friends?"
Rong Xingyu shook his head and smiled politely. "My friends didn’t come today."
Rong Zhihao nodded as if he had already expected that answer. He patted Rong Xingyu’s shoulder gently, his tone light and coaxing.
"Birthdays are meant to be lively, you know? You’re supposed to have fun with friends."
Then he raised his hand and pointed toward a nearby sofa. "How about you come over there with me? Those people were your friends before, right? Let’s go join them."
