Trapped in Paradise (In a Hentai World, as a Trap)-Chapter 361
Around noon, Wen Yang came up the subway stairs and stepped out onto the street.
This was an old part of the city. The roadside buildings were usually no taller than a dozen stories. The street had only four lanes, but the thick canopy of trees along the sidewalks almost shaded the entire road.
It was the first day of the Lunar New Year. Banners and strings of festive lights still hung across the streets, but compared to the usual hustle and bustle, the old neighborhood was quieter than normal.
This subway stop was the closest to Ning Chu’s home. From here, it would take him about fifteen minutes on foot.
He stopped by a shop to buy some New Year gifts, then straightened up, checked his reflection on his phone screen, and walked toward her apartment complex.
When he arrived downstairs, a small electric car in the parking lot caught his attention—not the car itself, but the two elderly people standing beside it.
The old man’s hair was already graying at the temples, his frame lean and wiry, bones visible under his skin. Yet he stood tall and straight, brimming with energy, almost more spirited than most young men.
The old lady was a little plump, her face healthy and rosy, her skin well-maintained. At a glance she looked like she was in her forties or fifties. Judging by her features, she must have been a great beauty when she was young. What stood out most, though, were the curved horns on her head—like a mountain goat’s.
People with horns weren’t something Wen Yang saw every day. He couldn’t help wondering whether they were heavy.
He found himself staring a little too long. The old lady noticed and gave him a friendly nod.
Wen Yang quickly smiled back, nodded politely, and then headed into the apartment building. He pressed for the elevator and waited.
A moment later, the two elders walked over and stepped into the elevator with him.
“That Ning Chu girl—getting her to visit us is like pulling teeth.”
“She’s just shy, afraid of gossip.”
“And Little Juan too. Something that big, and she keeps it from us until things blow up. You’ve spoiled her since she was little.”
Wen Yang overheard their conversation but couldn’t understand a word. They were speaking the local dialect, which sounded like rapid-fire gibberish to him. From their tone, it seemed like they were arguing.
He sneaked a glance back: the old man was glaring with puffed cheeks, but the old lady was smiling from ear to ear. Not much of a fight, then. Probably just the dialect making it sound harsh.
Now that he thought about it, he’d never once heard Ning Chu speak in dialect—probably because she didn’t know how.
The elevator reached their floor. Wen Yang stepped in first, pressed Ning Chu’s floor button, then shifted aside to scroll through his phone.
“A neighbor of Little Juan’s? Don’t think I’ve seen him before.”
“Probably just a younger relative here to pay New Year’s respects.”
He couldn’t understand what they were saying, but Wen Yang could feel their eyes on him. Looking up at the panel, he began to wonder if they might actually live right across from Ning Chu’s family.
When the elevator stopped, all three of them stepped out—and all three stopped right in front of Ning Chu’s door.
“….”
They stared at each other for a moment, equally stunned.
Just then, the door suddenly opened and Ning Chu came bounding out.
“Wen Yang!”
But when she saw the scene in the hallway, she slammed on the brakes, grabbed the doorframe with both hands, and skidded several feet across the tiles—barely avoiding a crash landing.
Under the strange stares, her face burned red, her expression stiff. She lowered her voice and mumbled:
“Grandpa… Grandma… what are you doing here…?”
Her mom hadn’t said a word about this!
“It’s been ten whole days since the holiday started. If we didn’t come now, you’d hide until school reopened.”
“That’s not true! We were planning to visit you tomorrow for New Year’s…”
Her gaze drifted, inevitably, toward her grandma’s horns.
‘Holy crap—those horns are actually kinda cute. They really do look like goat horns!’
Her grandparents didn’t look too different from before she crossed over. Her grandma just looked a bit younger now… and with those curved horns added.
“Oh my Ning Chu is such a pretty girl now”
Her grandma beamed with joy when she saw her granddaughter. She didn’t even bother taking off her shoes before hurrying inside, cupping Ning Chu’s soft cheeks with both hands, smiling so wide her eyes crinkled with crow’s feet.
Ning Chu’s cheeks were squished and kneaded like dough, then her grandma even planted a noisy
mua
kiss on her. It stung so much her eyes were turning red. She looked past her grandma’s shoulder at Wen Yang, her gaze full of misery, though she still forced out a smile.
“Grandpa!”
From the living room, Black Bean, who had been watching TV, noticed what was happening and dashed over, diving straight into Grandpa’s arms.
Although the old man wanted to study his granddaughter a little longer, he pulled a cheese stick from his pocket and shoved it into the kitten’s paws as a distraction.
“Ning Chu, who’s here?”
Ning Juan, still wearing an apron, came out of the kitchen at the commotion. The moment she saw the front door, her smile froze.
“What’s wrong? Not welcoming us?”
“Of course not~”
But despite being the guests, Ning Chu grandpa strolled into the living room like he owned the place, plopped down on the sofa, and cracked open some sunflower seeds from the table.
It really felt like she was hosting her father, not her father’s father…
Ning Juan’s expression looked flustered, and her eyes kept flicking nervously back toward the kitchen.
Just ten days ago, Ning Chu had brought Wen Yang to meet her… and now, completely unprepared, her boyfriend was about to be introduced to
her
parents.
The scene was a mess. Wen Yang stood awkwardly in the doorway. Ning Chu was being manhandled by her doting grandma. Her dad sat proudly on the sofa, teasing the cat. And she stood stiff in place, looking utterly lost.
‘First day of the New Year, and things already had to turn into a circus…’
Ning Juan sighed gloomily, then quickly put on a cheerful smile and waved Wen Yang in.
“Don’t just stand there in the doorway. Come on in.”
“Ah—yes, Auntie. I brought some snacks…”
“Just put them there.”
Her smile made Wen Yang’s back go cold. The moment he stepped inside, she immediately introduced him:
“This is Ning Chu’s boyfriend, Wen Yang.”
Wen Yang instantly straightened his back, standing at attention, nerves prickling all over. He didn’t know how he was supposed to greet them.
Should he call him Grandpa? Or maybe “Uncle”? “Sir”?
By rights it should be “Grandpa”… but he and Ning Chu weren’t married yet…
“Oh?”
Grandpa looked at Wen Yang with interest.
“Not bad. He looks like a fine young man.”
“Right?” Ning Juan's mom smiled, grabbed Wen Yang’s arm, and pushed him down onto the sofa. “You two have a nice chat. I’ll go finish up lunch.”
She grumbled as she hurried off:
“Really—dropping by without saying a word first. You’ve got me completely unprepared.”
Using her daughter’s boyfriend as a human shield, Ning Juan finally carved out a chance to slip back into the kitchen—to strategize with her boyfriend about how to handle this surprise parental visit.
Wen Yang, meanwhile, sat there utterly dazed, scalp tingling under Grandpa’s sharp gaze.
As for Ning Chu, she had her own hands full. Grandma pulled her aside, clutching her hand, chattering away like she had a mountain of things to say.
“You’re so pretty—prettier even than your mom was at your age.”
“No horns on your head? Just like your mom~”
“Half a year ago you were still a scrawny little boy, and now—look at you! Such a fine figure~”
‘Please, don’t bring up half a year ago…’
That shameful memory of her “feminization” still made Ning Chu squirm even now. She gave a stiff little smile.
“Mm.”
Standing there before her grandma, she felt like nothing more than a doll—her cheeks pinched, her hair patted—completely at the mercy of her grandmother’s doting affection.
But after barely ten minutes, she couldn’t take it anymore.
“Grandma…”
She’d just watched her mom throw Wen Yang under the bus to buy herself time.
‘Fine. If you’re going to be ruthless, don’t blame me for being the same.’
“What is it?”
“Mom got a boyfriend. He’s in the kitchen.”
Grandma froze. Then she rushed straight toward the kitchen.
“I’ll go take a look.”
