Trapped in Paradise (In a Hentai World, as a Trap)-Chapter 401
Chapter 401
“Mom!”
“Oh, wow~ It’s only been two days since you left, and you’re already talking to your mom in that tone? What’ll happen after you get married—will you still even remember me?”
“...”
After dinner, once Ning Chu finished writing, she called her mother—only to immediately get hit with that familiar passive-aggressive tone.
She opened her mouth to speak but didn’t know where to begin; all the things she wanted to say got stuck in her throat.
Ning Juan's tone softened slightly. “Alright, tell me—what’s got you so upset?”
Ning Chu sighed, her voice carrying both complaint and exasperation.
“Mom~ Why didn’t you tell me I’d grow horns? And that before they grow, I’d go through something like a
false pregnancy
? It nearly scared me to death!”
“You’re pregnant?!”
“
False
pregnancy! Can you please listen to the whole sentence before reacting?!”
Ning Juan let out a breath of relief. “Good grief, you scared me! If you really brought me another grandchild, I’d break Wen Yang’s legs!”
“You know, I get that you young people like to have fun, but you
have
to be careful. If you end up with ten or eight kids, who’s supposed to raise them?”
“I made that mistake myself, you know. If it weren’t for that accident that got me pregnant with you, our family wouldn’t have struggled so much.”
“You’re going off-topic again...”
Leaning on the windowsill of her rented apartment, Ning Chu propped her chin in one hand, watching people walk down the street below. Her tone was flat and hopeless as she interrupted, “Mom, focus.”
She hadn’t called to get lectured about life. And after this scare, she definitely wasn’t going to be as careless as before.
Just thinking about the image of herself with a huge belly gave her chills...
“Oh~ horns, right?” Ning Juan paused for a moment, sounding puzzled. “Did you go to the hospital?”
“Yeah. I really thought I was pregnant—it scared me half to death.”
“Well, I never grew horns myself, so I thought you wouldn’t either. Hmm... but you’re still in your growth phase, so it’s possible.”
Succubi usually took several years to finish developing, and Ning Chu had only been one for a little over half a year.
To others, she was still considered a “teenage” succubus—just... a slightly older one.
Ning Juan sighed. “I really don’t know much about it. I never had horns myself. I’ll ask your grandmother about it.”
“Yeah, please ask her what I should be careful about... Oh, and Mom—when Grandma sleeps, don’t her horns poke the pillow?”
“I... don’t think so?”
“Wouldn’t her head get heavy, though? Wouldn’t that be bad for her neck?”
“Do horns grow forever, like deer antlers, and then fall off on their own after a while?”
“Mom, if I grind mine into powder, do you think I could sell it to a pharmacy for some extra cash?”
Her daughter always had strange questions like these, and Ning Juan couldn’t answer most of them.
Eventually, the barrage of questions wore her patience thin. “I’ll give you your grandma’s number—you can ask her yourself! How would I know? I don’t have horns!”
“Oh... Can you just ask for me instead?” Ning Chu immediately chickened out, shrinking her neck and mumbling softly.
“I’m hanging up.”

After her mom ended the call, Ning Chu sighed gloomily and turned around to look at Wen Yang, who was sitting at the computer working on a design project.
Wen Yang had been teaching himself design and sometimes took on small freelance jobs at night. The pay wasn’t much, but it helped cover their meals.
“How’d it go?” he asked.
“She doesn’t know anything,” Ning Chu grumbled as she sat beside him, staring at the Photoshop window. “Can you edit a photo of me with horns? I want to see what I’ll look like when they grow.”
“Sure. I bet you’ll look cute.”
“I hope so...”
She couldn’t help but rub the top of her head. Ever since learning she’d grow horns, her scalp had started to feel a little itchy, like they could sprout out any moment.
She hadn’t even been this anxious when her tail or the silver markings appeared.
“I’m going to bed. I’m exhausted...”
Before Wen Yang could finish editing, Ning Chu got up and flopped onto the bed face-first.
Her period had just started, and she hadn’t had a late-night snack the night before, so she already felt weak. The emotional roller coaster from the day had only made it worse.
Normally, she’d stay up writing until around midnight—but tonight, she could barely keep her eyes open past ten.
At least tomorrow’s class was at ten in the morning.
She could finally sleep in until nine.
The light was still on. Ning Chu curled up in bed, tucked her legs close, and buried her head under the blanket. Within moments, her breathing turned slow and steady—she’d fallen asleep.
Wen Yang glanced at the lump under the blanket and stood up to turn off the light. But before he could, loud noises suddenly echoed from the hallway outside.
“Drink! Let’s keep drinking at my place!”
“Not going home till we’re wasted! Anyone who bails is a damn dog!”
BANG!
The shouting grew louder, and then someone kicked a nearby door. The thunderous impact made Wen Yang jolt upright in shock.
Ning Chu, who had just drifted into light sleep, was startled awake. Her messy hair stuck out as she scrambled out from under the blanket, eyes wide and confused.
“What—what happened?”
“Someone next door’s drunk,” Wen Yang said calmly.
Another loud
slam
shook the walls as the drunk neighbors shut their door, making Ning Chu flinch violently.
“Are they crazy?! Who the hell makes this much noise in the middle of the night?!”
It was already past ten o’clock! Normal people were asleep by now!
But even after the drunk neighbors went inside, the thin walls couldn’t block their racket. There were crashes, clatters, and thuds, as if they were breaking furniture—or maybe the whole apartment. The walls even seemed to tremble from the commotion.
How was anyone supposed to sleep through this?!
Ning Chu tossed and turned, more and more agitated. “It’s ten-thirty! Do they even care that other people exist?!”
“Ughhh, I’m gonna lose it...”
She rolled around for a while longer, then went limp like a salted fish, hugging her pillow and staring blankly at the wall.
After another thirty minutes, the noise only got worse—like they were trying to tear the building down.
“Unbelievable...” Ning Chu sighed helplessly. “It’s eleven already. Isn’t that going too far?”
“Why doesn’t the landlord do something about this?”
“Eh? Wen Yang, where are you going?”
She noticed him putting on his jacket and walking toward the door.
“I’m going to talk to them,” he said flatly.
Ning Chu froze. News stories of drunks starting fights and hurting people flashed through her mind, and she quickly called out, “They’re drunk! Be polite, okay? Don’t argue with them.”
“Don’t worry.”
“Or maybe... forget it? I can get up and write for a while. We’ve got class at ten tomorrow anyway—let’s just not provoke them...”
Her voice trailed off.
Watching Wen Yang’s back as he reached for the door, she couldn’t see his face—but she could
feel
the change in him. The calm, gentle presence she was used to had turned heavy and cold, like something fierce was rising beneath the surface.
It was the kind of tension that made the air feel thick—like a volcano right before it erupted, or a predator about to strike.
She froze, her words dying in her throat.
Wen Yang was angry.
It was the first time she’d ever seen him like this—and it terrified her.
When he stepped out, Ning Chu hurried after him, peeking through the door into the hallway.
“Wen Yang...”
“It’s fine,” he said quietly.
He knocked on the neighbor’s door. A moment later, the door swung open—and a wave of alcohol stench spilled out.
“It’s eleven,” Wen Yang said evenly. “Keep it down.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever! Stop nagging!” came a slurred, irritated voice from inside.
Ning Chu immediately pulled her head back inside and scurried toward the bed, panic rising in her chest.
Crap! I should call the police!
She grabbed her phone off the nightstand with trembling hands—but before she could dial, she heard Wen Yang’s footsteps returning.
When she looked up, Wen Yang had already come back, his face wearing the same gentle, relaxed smile as usual. The earlier menace was completely gone.
“All good,” he said softly. “It’s taken care of.”
“You... didn’t hit them, did you?”
“No. They were actually quite reasonable.”
“...Really?”
