Chapter 18

Chapter 18: Culinary Little Cub
Aries sighed and then took one of the rice wraps and bit from it. Instantly, he felt refreshed. For a moment, he thought he was back on Earth, he thought he could see his sweet mother’s face again, but it wasn’t. He had just stung back a memory instead.
He finally tasted something sweet and sour, something edible apart from fruit, and he knew he was living again.
This time, their attention had been piqued again, and they were now looking at Aries.
Aries then walked to the madam and said, "Would you like to try it out?"
"What?" she asked, confusion in her sight. It wasn’t like she didn’t know what he made, but did she want to try it? No.
Just the way Aries had regarded their food as trash before tasting it, just the same as then, but the difference was that Aries’ deduction was correct, but theirs wasn’t.
"Well, I don’t mind," she said reluctantly, and Aries was happy.
He had already been thinking about how to get them to eat whatever he made, not knowing that the aroma was already enough.
Valaria, the madam of the kitchen, actually couldn’t even decline, because what was the scent coming from whatever the young cub had cooked? She also wanted to, so she went to the tray Aries had and took one of the wraps.
After a deep breath, she dropped it into her mouth, and it melted. It was warm, crunchy, sweet, soft, and she felt as though she was in heaven—that was what Val felt.
But to others, she looked sick, because outwardly, she suddenly held her head with her hands.
Aries panicked as he saw her behavior, and the rest of the kitchen servants were also in shock. Aries managed to hold her by the shoulders and tried to calm her.
"Madam, are you okay?" he asked, confused and worried.
Then Valaria finally managed to see others beside herself and what she had been feeling. She looked at the wonder of the hands holding onto her and smiled.
"Okay is an understatement," she said, a bright smile on her face. "I feel ecstasy. How did you do this?"
She moved to the platter, her eyes raking over the fine arrangement on the plate intended for the guest, and she said, "I reckon the picky client will definitely like this, even prepared to be summoned."
The server went ahead and took the food out of the kitchen.
Aries felt in his heart this sense of accomplishment, this happiness because once in his life, something was happening right. He was being appreciated for what he did, and more so, something so small and ridiculous in his world was well applauded here.
A wide smile formed across his mouth as he looked at the faces of the eager workers who also wanted to have a taste of the ecstasy Madam Valaria had tasted, and Aries, feeling on top of the world, just couldn’t deny them that.
He said, even without asking, "I know you all probably want to taste it too, so I think I’ll cook more."
His words were like a rain of joy as their faces screamed gratitude and happiness. It was like when you are expecting a great change in life and an even greater one happens.
Aries got to the task he had put upon himself, and that was that about the kitchen.
Meanwhile, the servers who had left the kitchen walked through the corridors of rooms and finally reached the one where the esteemed guest was, and they opened the door.
As they stepped inside the room, they presented the food to the guest, and his eyes set on them.
"I told you not to bother about food anymore. Why did you still bring this?" he asked, his eyes towards the food.
"And it smells funny."
One of the servers responded, "Madam Valaria asked that we present this to you, that you may like it and even want more."
The guest’s brows arched in surprise and curiosity. "Might even want more..."
He knew that the talks about how picky he was, and how he refused to grow bigger or taller because of his lack of food, were spreading wide in the city. So for them to believe he would eat a meal and want more, the meal was definitely worth trying.
He looked at the servers one last time and then buckled out. "Serve it then."
"Thank you," one said, and they proceeded to place it well on the table, and the guest finally managed to see what was before him.
The appearance didn’t turn his stomach like the rest did; rather, this one made him actually want to taste it and see if it tasted just as good as it looked.
His mouth watered, and the smell started to work something in his head. What he believed was funny was actually a great aroma he couldn’t comprehend.
He coughed lightly to clear his throat, cracked his knuckles, and then took one of the wraps. He looked at it well, turning it front and back as he had never witnessed this before, and then dropped it into his mouth.
As the flesh of the wrap touched his tongue, his eyes closed instantly, and a loud scream permeated the room. The sex attendants were scared, and more so the servers and everyone in the hall.
But the scream didn’t last long as the guest finally opened his eyes, and a bright smile was visible on his face to the servers, and then they could reciprocate. The client felt as though he had reached the pinnacle of good things on earth and was searching for more.
The taste was incomprehensible for him, someone who had been used to blandness, and he wanted to know what and who did what had just made him almost reach perfect bliss.
"Who is this cook?" he asked as he squeezed another rice wrap into his mouth.
He liked how the fish dissolved into his mouth, with the sweet taste, how the rice was soft and chewy, and how the wrap was crunchy. He just wanted to keep having more, and more he did have...
"I’ll get him for you," the server said, bowing to him before leaving the room.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Aries was worried sick, and so was Madam Valaria.
"Isn’t this taking long? What if he doesn’t like it?" Madam Valaria muttered as she sighed heavily. "What will become of you now? He said he didn’t want any, and now bringing another forward has definitely angered him more."
The servers stepped into the room, and their faces turned toward them. The server looked at Aries and smiled.
He said, "The guest seeks to see you."
Madam Valaria sighed again. "And now you can’t escape being punished. When you get there, don’t say much to him. Just prove that you’re sorry."
The words brought confusion to the server’s face, and she said, "And what offense is this punishment about? The guest is calling him probably because he likes the meal."
"And what do you make of the scream?" Madam Valaria was confused.
"Scream of joy, perhaps?" But the server remained discreet, not giving Aries any reason to rejoice yet.
Aries left what he was doing and followed the servers. They got to the room and opened it. As Aries stepped inside, his eyes met with another pair of brown tiger eyes, and his own gaze traced the tiger man’s body. He knew right away that this tiger was the one, and this one wasn’t angered.
On his haggard, bony face was what he would call happiness. His lips curled up into a smile.
’Turns out this man is truly picky... look at him, so small and short...’ Aries thought to himself as his legs advanced toward the man.
As Aries got to his front, the man stood up from his seat and moved to Aries. He then held his hands, and Aries watched in anticipation of what he would do next.
The man went ahead to kiss Aries’ hand and said, "Will you go back home with me when I leave?"
"Huh?" Aries was confused. He needed him to repeat whatever he had said, because he believed he had heard wrong.
The man smiled and said, "With these heavenly hands of yours that made that awesome meal, I really want to have you as mine. Would you follow me back home and be my personal cook?"
’Wow...are beasts this easy? I’ve captivated him with this little dish that he wishes to own me.’
Aries coughed lightly and said, "Can I decline?"
He made sure to look at him with the cutest and meekest face he could muster.
"Of course you can, and I won’t have any choice than to agree, but I’ll love it better if you agree."
As Aries heard this, he was glad—at least the man wasn’t trying to forcibly take him.
But he removed his hands one after the other from the man’s hold, stepped back a bit, and said, "I’m afraid I won’t be able to do that. I love having my freedom, and I love my family here. Even though I haven’t been with them for long, I love it here and would love to stay here for more time than you would want me to."
’Love it here...’ Aries scoffed. Even he laughed at his own lies. He didn’t like it one bit here—not in the Beastworld. He just wanted to be back at his home on Earth, but that seemed impossible until he had lived here for a bit.
The man’s expression turned moody, and he turned back to his seat. "Well, if you decide this, I can’t change your mind. But you need to promise me that you’ll always make a meal for me whenever I come here."
"Sure, that’s not a problem," Aries replied with a smile, and the guest also smiled back.
Then Aries left the room, and as he stood in front of the door, the system notification chimed:
