Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 503 - 251: Current Stage of the Battle

Chapter 503

Chapter 503: Chapter 251: Current Stage of the Battle
If Alka’s side was experiencing an overwhelming chase, a game of cat and mouse, then Julia’s side was engaged in a strategic game. This was because the enemy’s captain, their strongest member, had pursued Alka. Although Julia’s group was scattered, at least the enemies they faced weren’t particularly strong. They didn’t need to feign weakness like Alka; they just had to perform normally, fighting while retreating. This way, the enemy would be lured deeper into the trap and then caught all at once.
"Everyone, run faster! If you keep dawdling like this, the enemy will get away!" the scruffy old man shouted, striking the slower pirates with his cane as he ran.
Meanwhile, Julia, fleeing in the distance, was about to disappear from their sight.
A pursuing pirate tripped while passing between two trees. The moment he hit the ground, something yanked his head up, and a bloody gash appeared on his throat. Blood spurted out.
"Haha, ugly freak!" a voice taunted from the branches above. A girl poked her head out and made a face at the pirates below.
Seeing their companion suddenly killed, a quick-reacting pirate threw a dagger.
However, the girl making the face was swiftly pulled away from a distance; a thin filament was tied around her waist.
"Goodbye, ugly freaks!"
"Is that little thing one of them too?" some pirates asked.
"Hurry up and chase them! Stop standing around talking!"
The scruffy old man knew Alka’s team had puppet-like members, so he wasn’t surprised. It seems they’ve signaled their crewmates on the ship.
「 」
At that moment, a pirate ship over fifty meters long was sailing along the edge of the island. Its earth-brown hull flew pitch-black sails, which were painted with a white skull pierced from the top by a dagger, clearly displaying their identity. Only six crew members were on board, all gathered on deck. One was at the helm, steering the ship slowly as it patrolled the area, while the others kept watch. That so few people could operate such a large vessel made it evident that this pirate ship was a Spell Ship.
"Haven’t you found that damned ship yet?" the one at the helm shouted.
"Haven’t seen it! Keep circling! The captain ordered us to keep a close watch on that ship."
"This island is huge. What a pain."
Despite the grumbling, the ship continued to circle the island, searching for Alka’s vessel. Their mission was to keep a close eye on the Dawn Sound, to prevent its crew from abandoning their teammates on the island and sailing away. They figured that if the roles were reversed, they would do exactly that, so they naturally had to prevent the others from doing so. After all, most of a crew’s wealth was kept on their ship. It was known that Alka and his crew rarely returned to town. If the ship escaped, they wouldn’t get much treasure.
However, their luck seemed poor. Even after speeding more than halfway around the island, they still found no trace of the Dawn Sound. It was as if the ship had vanished into thin air.
"Damn it! Where the hell did they go? Have they escaped?"
"They shouldn’t have," another pirate mused. "After all, the captain and the others are still on the island. They only just made their move; there’s no way they could escape so soon."
"Speed up! They might be on the other side!"
The helmsman, feeling frustrated, could only accelerate the ship once more to continue the search.
Just then, behind their ship, the sea waves stirred unnaturally. It was as if something were bubbling up, trying to surface from the depths. First, a crow’s nest emerged, then tall masts, and finally, furled sails. A small flag atop the crow’s nest bore the Compass’s Eye emblem. Finally, a three-meter-long cannon barrel emerged, its dark muzzle already aimed at the pirate ship ahead.
Clearly, this emergence from behind was a premeditated attack.
The pirates on deck finally noticed the commotion behind them.
"Behind us! Look behind! Isn’t that the ship we’re supposed to be watching?"
"Looks like it! Hahaha, it finally showed itself!"
Just as these pirates were celebrating, one of them suddenly stared, his eyes wide with extreme terror. He roared, "Stop fucking smiling! Full speed! Full speed ahead!"
"Why? We’ve found the enemy ship!"
"You damned fools! It surfaced from the sea! You should gouge out your eyes and feed them to the fish!" the pirate bellowed. His voice was filled with urgency and despair.
Hearing this roar, the smiling pirates finally realized the gravity of the situation.
A ship emerging from the sea... Isn’t that a Ghost Ship?
This damned thing is a Ghost Ship! Its owner must possess a Treasure!
But we’ve never heard anything about this! It means the enemy kept it a secret!
The captain and the others on the island...
They didn’t dare to think further. They just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible, as far away as possible.
However, it was clear they no longer had a chance.
A gray sphere of light shot out, accurately striking the helm. The helmsman and a pirate beside him were instantly engulfed. Not even a scream was heard before a flash of white light consumed them.
All that remained in that spot was a concave pit; everything else in the vicinity had vanished.
