Chapter 374: Know I’m Acting A Bit Crazy
[KOSTA]
"Maybe there is another alternative—" Sanji tried desperately.
"Consider it a favor, then. You court me, and help me get him to undo the immortality spell, and I will do whatever the hell you want... Anything," Kosta begged in earnest.
"That is a dangerous proposal to give to a traitor, Igor," Sanji reminded, but Kosta wasn’t thinking. Well, he had already thought about it, and the only thing that would hurt Tamiko the most would be seeing Sanji having what was once his.
It didn’t matter if the stakes were too high, because honestly, whenever Igor and his mate and bond were involved, the stakes were high off the charts. They were batshit crazy, besides, this was Kosta’s way of avenging himself.
The king, who was supposed to be on his side, had abandoned him and had left him alone to suffer at the ends of Yilena and Tamiko.
That was something that angered Kosta, especially since in the ten years, none of them had ever called Kosta aside to talk.
They only ever talked at the council table about Kawai and when the meetings ended, they left like Kosta was just another council member, like he was one of the ministers who had been brought to the table by the king himself.
Lord Sadako had been a bystander even though he was Kosta’s brother-in-law.
He was supposed to be on the side of the family, instead, he did nothing. The man who was supposed to pump some sense into Yilena, Tamiko and Zaffuto had stood by and watched as the three ripped Kosta’s heart apart like it was nothing.
That hurt.
It was the worst possible thing that could have happened.
And Tamiko?
Oh, Tamiko.
Kosta still loved him, but he hated him just as much, so that wouldn’t even matter because if Tamiko knew or heard that Kosta had spread his legs for Sanjiro, the crown’s traitor, then there would be no going back.
There would be no forgiveness, and right now, Kosta was past that. He had wanted his Erasthai, not forgiveness. He wanted Tamiko, to be his again, but Yilena was already concocting whatever plan she had in mind to fuck up Kosta and Tamiko again.
And the worst part was that they were all letting her do that. Kosta’s heart was filled with resentment for his guardian, and the only way to punish Yilena was to die. That was the only way, because if Kosta died—
—Then Yilena would have failed to keep her promise to Sahina.
That shit would haunt her forever.
"It is a good one nonetheless. Are you in or not? You sure you don’t want a taste of what the mighty Kawai prince had? You sure you don’t want to use that to brag before him when he finally learns of what we are doing?" Kosta asked.
Sanji didn’t recognize him.
He didn’t know if this was the angry omega or the raging Erasthai that Tamiko had abandoned. And that scared Sanji. Sanjiro was never a man to scare easily and yet Igor offering himself up as a sacrificial free-use whore like that, scared him.
Maybe he was right to be scared because no one had ever touched Kostantin after Tamiko.
It wasn’t that hard to even decipher because the man was always by his lavender farm, trying to lead a lonely life while hoping that perhaps someday the fates would be kinder to him.
It hurt a lot, and it was something that Kosta was unfortunately struggling to accept.
"Oh, Igor," Sanji whispered.
"What? Don’t tell me you don’t want to fuck me out of spite for all that Tamiko has done to you and your band of misfits. Besides, this is the only way it will hurt more than anything. I want to be free, and he won’t let me be free.
"I want to be happy, but that went out the window the day he abandoned me for the greater good. So, take this chance. Let’s die an honorable death, by Tamko’s sword, together, hmm?" Kosta suggested.
His insistence was breaking the heart that Sanji hadn’t even known he had. This was so low of Igor and Sanji wanted to refuse.
God, he wanted to refuse.
But only a madman would deny that Igor Kostantin was a beauty to behold.
Ever since he had accepted his omega state, the man had transformed into the prettiest thing the warriors had ever seen.
Even the female warriors lusted after him.
They only ever got to watch from a distance because none of them wanted to disappear and be found dead by the hands of the cold prince, who would never agree that he was the one clearing out anyone who had dared to hurt Igor in any way.
Funny how Tamiko had been the one to break the omega’s heart in the worst of ways.
"Listen... you’re not thinking clearly. This is not just a tantrum you can throw and get it over with, Konstantin. This is a reckless decision, one that will get you killed," Sanji said, and Igor laughed happily, like he had hit the jackpot.
"Exactly. A decision that will put an end to my miserable life. Help me, Sanji. Besides, you’re the only one who’s ever been a threat to Tamiko through and through. If he knows I chose you, he will be too angry, and then we will get what we both want.
"Besides, who knows, I might use my last breath as a free man to save you from the hold that he has on you. What do you say?" Igor asked, and Sanji felt a tear roll down his face. His heart was broken for the Lycan Chief, who had been adored by everyone.
But then Kosta was not in the mood to be beloved by everyone, not when the one he wanted wasn’t even looking in his direction. And that was the one thing that Sanji wished he could take away.
The pain, the horror of having to sit there and watch as life got even more compacted. It was a different kind of hurt, and there was no coming back from this if they went on with it.
"Fine. If you insist. But I have a condition," Sanji said, and Kosta stared hopefully, his eyes gleaming with hope and desire for that which would have him never see the light of day again.
But Kosta wanted the pain to end. He wanted to put an end to his loneliness and his abandoned state that had ruined everything he had believed in over the years. He just wanted a reprieve.
"Anything. I told you, I would do anything if you agreed to court me, as long as it gets me out of this hellhole I am trapped in. Anything, Sanjiro. Anything," Kosta rambled on as Sanji wiped his tears away.
He had never thought that there could come a day when he would ever want to see Igor Kostantin happy. The Lycan Chief had been a pain in his ass for years and had been the craziest foe that Sanji had had.
He was dangerous, and yet now, even though he was still dangerous, Igor was on a suicide mission.
"We never consummate. I may be an asshole traitor, but I know your pain and how hard this is for you. I won’t take advantage of you. We will do what is needed to make the prince believe us, but that is just it."
