What's Wrong With Being An Omega Nanny?-Chapter 122: I Will Wait!

Chapter 122

Chapter 122: I Will Wait!
Two days later, it was finally moving day
It was barely morning when everyone woke up and the air was cold. A long line of black vehicles waited in front of the Drago estate like soldiers ready for war.
Today was the day they were finally leaving for the safe house.
Today was also Lila’s Eleventh birthday.
Elias had wanted to bake her a cake the night before, but between packing and other important stuff, there had been no time. He had promised her that the second they arrived at the new place, they would make the biggest chocolate cake she had ever seen. Lila had rolled her eyes, but her cheeks went pink. Of course, she couldn’t wait.
Now the courtyard was busy.
The guards loaded the last bags into two large, dark vans. The twins ran around in circles, excited about the "road trip."
Dante tugged on Lila’s sleeve. "Happy birthday, Lila!"
Dario joined in, voice loud. "Happy birthday! We made up a song for you!"
"A song?" Lila furrowed her brows as they nodded their heads. She was suspicious of them, but she gave them a go-ahead.
They started singing off-key, arms around each other’s shoulders.
"Happy birthday to youuuu... You live in a zoo... You look like a monkey... and you smell like one too!"
Lila stared at them. She didn’t want to say anything but she clapped her hands. "Wow. So beautiful. I’m crying."
The twins beamed.
"We wanted to give you our new PlayStation," Dante said, holding it up proudly.
"And my limited-edition Spider-Man figure," Dario added.
Lila ruffled both their heads. "Keep your toys, baby bears. But thank you for the song. I’ll definitely remember it forever."
Dante hissed like an angry cat. "Only Dad and Nanny can touch our hair!"
"Today is my birthday," Lila said, grinning. "So make a special exception."
The twins thought about it, then nodded seriously.
Elias watched from the steps, arms crossed, smiling despite everything. He looked around for Viktor.
Again.
Viktor had been gone since that night in the kitchen. He didn’t say anything to him. Not even an explanation.
Just gone.
Elias walked over to Gerald, who was directing two guards carrying a heavy box.
"Gerald... do you know where Viktor is?"
Gerald gave him a small, polite smile. "Master Viktor is handling some business, sir. He’ll join us later."
That smile was too smooth. Elias knew it meant I’m not allowed to tell you.
He just nodded. "Okay. Thank you."
He walked back to the kids.
Lila raised an eyebrow, noticing the look on his face. "Is Daddy bear still missing?"
"Daddy bear?" He laughed and nodded. "He’s still missing." He confirmed.
She shrugged. "Men are stupid."
Elias laughed quietly. "Sometimes."
Gerald clapped his hands. "Everyone in the vehicles. We roll in five."
The twins cheered and ran to the biggest van. Elias helped Lila climb in, then followed.
The inside was more like a small living room than a car: leather seats facing each other, a fridge, a TV screen, blankets, and pillows.
Dante and Dario immediately claimed the back row and started arguing over who got the window. Lila sat in the middle, pulled out her tablet, and put on her earphones.
Elias took the seat closest to the driver, buckled up, and opened the little fridge. Energy drinks, water, juice boxes, bags of chips.
He grabbed a cold can, cracked it open, and took a long drink.
The doors closed and the convoy started moving.
There was still no sign of Viktor.
Just like that, they left without him. Elias stared out the tinted window as the estate disappeared behind trees.
They were going to spend six hours on the road because of the long journey but he told himself he wasn’t worried. He doesn’t care about Viktor’s whereabouts.
He lied.
.
.
The same morning at the matching centre..
Nathan woke up slowly. He already woke up last night just for a few minutes then drifted back to sleep.
The first thing he felt this morning was the pain in his back but it was manageable. The second thing he felt was disappointment.
Because the chair beside his bed was empty.
There was no Elias close by telling him ’Oh... Don’t get up. I’m here’.
He had been unconscious for almost thirty-six hours. He had dreamed... over and over... that when he opened his eyes Elias would be there, holding his hand, crying, thanking him, finally realising Nathan was the one who would die for him.
Instead, there was only Leo, his secretary, sitting stiffly with a tablet.
Nathan pushed the oxygen mask off his face. "Where is he?"
Leo stood quickly. "Good morning, sir. How are you feeling?"
"Where. Is. Elias?"
Leo looked uncomfortable. "According to the information I got, he... left the Drago estate early this morning, sir. With the children. They used three identical vans and six decoy cars. We lost the trail twenty minutes out of the city limits."
Nathan stared at the ceiling.
His fist clenched the sheet so hard his knuckles went white. Pain shot through his back and he hissed before finally letting go.
Leo stepped closer. "Sir, you shouldn’t move too much..."
"Phone."
Leo handed it over immediately. Nathan dialled from memory.
One ring.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Click.
"Hello?"
Elias’s voice... sleepy, a little hoarse, background noise of a moving car.
Nathan’s whole face changed as the cold anger melted. His eyes softened. His mouth curved into the smallest, happiest smile.
"Elias," he said, voice low and warm.
A pause on the other side.
"Nathan?" Elias sounded surprised. "You’re awake?"
"I woke up last night," Nathan said. "And the first thing I did was look for you. Imagine my disappointment."
Elias laughed quietly. It was a small sound, but Nathan closed his eyes like it was music.
"I’m sorry," Elias said. "How are you feeling?"
"Terrible," Nathan answered instantly. "I’m dying without you."
Elias snorted. "You’re not dying. The doctors said you’ll be fine."
"They don’t know anything," Nathan said. "Come see me. I’ll be fine the second you walk through that door."
"I can’t," Elias said, softer. "We left the estate this morning. We’re on the road. It may take six, maybe seven hours to get to our destination."
Nathan’s smile faded. "Where?"
"I’m not allowed to say."
Nathan’s voice dropped. "Give me the address. I’ll drive there myself."
"You’re hooked to ten machines, Nathan."
"I’ll unplug them."
Elias laughed again, but it sounded tired. "You’re impossible."
Nathan shifted in the bed and deliberately pressed his palm against the bandage.
Pain flared as he started to bleed again. He let out a real groan and Elias heard it.
"Nathan? Are you okay?"
"It hurts," Nathan said, making his voice weak. "I think... I think it opened again."
"What? How—"
Nathan coughed... hard... on purpose. "Call the doctor, Leo."
Leo’s eyes went wide. "Sir..."
"Do it," Nathan snapped, then softer into the phone, "Elias, I’m bleeding."
"Nathan... stop moving! Why are you bleeding?"
"I don’t know," Nathan lied, pressing harder. Warm wetness spread under the bandage. "Maybe the stitches tore. My lung feels weird."
Elias’s voice went high with worry. "Put me on video. Now."
Nathan smiled through the pain and switched the call.
Elias’s face appeared... wearing a hoodie two sizes too big, a seatbelt across his chest, a window behind him showing trees flying past.
Nathan angled the camera so Elias could see the blood seeping through the hospital gown.
Elias covered his mouth. "Nathan! That’s a lot of blood!"
"It’s fine," Nathan said weakly. "I don’t regret it. I’d do it again. I’d take a hundred bullets if it meant you were safe."
Elias’s eyes were wide and scared. "Stop talking like that. Just... lie still. Don’t move until the doctor comes."
Nathan let his head fall back against the pillow dramatically. "I wish you were here. You’d take care of me better than any nurse."
"I’m still mad at you, you know right?" Elias said, but his voice shook.
"I know," Nathan said. "I know. But I’m also the idiot who loves you enough to stand in front of a gun."
Elias went quiet.
In the background, Nathan heard Dante’s voice: "Nanny, who are you talking to?"
Elias glanced away.
"Nobody, baby. Go back to your game."
Nathan’s chest tightened... not from the wound this time.
"Elias," he said, softer, "when I get out of here... can we talk? Properly? I swear, I won’t make any trick or awful plans. Just you and me."
Elias bit his lip. "Nathan..."
"Please."
A long pause.
"We’ll talk," Elias said finally. "When you’re better. But right now you need to rest and stop reopening your wound like an idiot."
Nathan smiled, even though it hurt. "Deal."
Elias hesitated. "I have to go. The kids..."
"I love you," Nathan said quickly, before he could hang up.
Elias’s cheeks went pink. He looked away from the camera.
"Shut up and get better," he mumbled, and ended the call.
Nathan let the phone fall onto his lap.
He was smiling and bleeding at the same time.
Leo cleared his throat. "Sir... you’re actually bleeding quite badly now. Should I..."
"No," Nathan said, still staring at the blank screen. "Leave it. It worked."
Leo looked like he wanted to cry. "Sir, you’re going to need new stitches."
Nathan waved a lazy hand. "Later. Right now I feel amazing."
Leo opened his mouth, closed it, then tried again.
"Sir... may I ask something personal?"
Nathan glanced at him. "If you must."
Leo hesitated. "You have money, power, looks... You could have anyone. Why him? He’s just a regular omega. From a poor family. He’s got nothing to offer you."
The room went very still like someone turned on the freezer. Nathan turned his head slowly. The smile was gone in an instant.
His eyes were flat, dangerous.
"Say that again," he said quietly.
Leo took one step back. "I... I just meant—"
"Elias Kane is worth more than every dollar I own," Nathan said, voice low and deadly. "If you ever call him ’just’ anything again, I will personally peel the skin from your body while you’re still breathing. Do you understand?"
Leo went white. "Yes, sir. Perfectly."
"Good." Nathan leaned back, closed his eyes. "Now get out."
Leo practically ran. He didn’t wait a second to tell Nathan to get a stitch again. Nathan stayed like that alone.
His chest was still aching and his heart was racing.
He whispered to the empty room the same words he had said a hundred times in his head.
"I have everything in this world... except you."
He pressed the bandage again... just enough to feel the sting... and smiled through it.
"I’m patient, Elias," he said to the ceiling. "I can wait. I will wait."
