What's Wrong With Being An Omega Nanny?-Chapter 123: Who Is She?

Chapter 123

Chapter 123: Who Is She?
The Mediterranean sun was high and merciless.
A white super-yacht, floating on the water, music drifting from the top deck, champagne glasses clinking.
On the sun lounger lay Isabella Caldwell... fifty-two years old, looking thirty-five, with golden skin, a blank bikini, and diamonds flashing at her throat and wrists.
A waiter approached her. He looked at least twenty-five, tanned, shirtless, black trousers rolled at the ankles.
He carried a tall glass of punch, bright red with fruit floating on top.
"Your drink, ma’am." He said.
Isabella heard his thick voice and lowered her sunglasses slowly, eyes travelling over him like she was shopping.
She bit her lower lip as she sat up, took the glass, and let her fingers brush his on purpose.
He shivered and swiftly pulled his finger away.
She smiled, noticing his nervousness.
"What’s your name, handsome?"
"Mateo, ma’am," he said, his voice a little shaky.
"Mateo. Oh. Sounds hot," she repeated, tasting it. "Twenty-five?"
He nodded.
Isabella leaned forward, ran one finger down his abs. "I want you tonight."
Mateo swallowed hard. He heard the information about one of the VIP guests on the yacht, sleeping with young boys for fun and paying them a hefty amount of money. He never thought he would get caught by her. "I... I’m not sure I understand..."
"Oh, you do! Don’t pretend..." Her finger was about to pull the band of his trousers when her secretary appeared at the top of the stairs. She looked sharp in her black suit, tablet in hand and her normal flat expression mm.
"Ma’am. We’ve got a huge problem."
Isabella rolled her eyes so hard her sunglasses almost fell.
"Lucia, you always ruin my fun."
Lucia didn’t blink. She simply stepped between Isabella and the waiter. She turned her head over her shoulder and gave the waiter a small wink.
Meteo took the hint and practically ran.
"You just let me dinner left," Isabella sighed dramatically and sipped her punch. "What now?"
Lucia handed her the tablet.
One information that they got from the spy they sent to watch her son.
UNKNOWN: NATHAN CALDWELL GOT SHOT PROTECTING THAT OMEGA ELIAS KANE. HE’S IN A CRITICAL CONDITION. PRESENTLY AT THE MATCHING CENTRE.
Isabella’s glass slipped from her fingers and shattered on the teak deck.
Red punch spread like blood. Her lips trembled, and she bit them to control herself. She stood up so fast the lounger fell backwards.
"Turn the yacht around," she said, voice suddenly ice. "We’re going home. Now."
Lucia was already moving. "Yes, ma’am."
Isabella stared at the tablet, eyes narrowed.
First, her son got stabbed and was saved by a peasant. Now he took a bullet for the same peasant.
She was done playing nice. She was tired of hearing that name over and over again. She was aware that her son was obsessed with that boy, and now, he was willing to die for him.
"My Nathan deserves more. He deserves the whole world and not that low-breed human. I’ll have to make a move before that thing collects my son from me."
.
.
The vans rolled through the final set of gates just as the sun started to drop. They’ve safely arrived. The safe house wasn’t a house.
It was a fortress.
It has high stone walls, watchtowers, and guards with rifles every twenty metres. The main building looked like a modern castle.. glass and steel mixed with old stone, three storeys high, surrounded by forest on every side.
Elias stepped out of the van and just stared.
Lila’s mouth actually fell open.
"This is... insane," she whispered.
The twins were already running toward the front doors, shouting about their rooms. Of course, it wasn’t the first time they were here. It’s like their second home.
Elias grabbed the last two bags and followed.
Inside was just as ridiculous... marble floors, huge windows with bulletproof glass, a kitchen the size of their old apartment.
He found the twins’ rooms first... name tags on the doors, toys already waiting like someone knew exactly what they liked.
Lila’s room was next to theirs, with pale purple walls and a mountain of pillows.
His room was across the hall...simple, grey and white, big bed, locked door he still hadn’t figured out.
He dropped his bag and went straight to the kids’ room to help them unpack, but Lila was already there.
"Why don’t you go bake my cake and I’ll help baby bears with their things?" That was what she said.
Elias agreed and left for the kitchen. Birthday cake time.
He found everything he needed: flour, sugar, cocoa, eggs, butter, vanilla, baking powder, milk, and chocolate for the frosting.
He tied on an apron, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work.
First the dry ingredients... flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt... sifted into a big bowl.
Then the wet... eggs cracked one by one, sugar, oil, milk, vanilla. He mixed by hand because the electric mixer felt too fancy. He was used to manual things.
The batter went into two round pans.
Oven preheated to 180.
Thirty-five minutes.
While they baked, he made the frosting... dark chocolate melted with butter and cream, whisked until the mixture was glossy.
The smell filled the whole downstairs. The twins came running first.
"Is it ready? Is it ready?"
"It will be ready soon," Elias said, laughing.
Lila appeared in the doorway, arms crossed, trying to look cool. She could imagine herself burying herself inside that huge chocolate cake.
"It smells... okay, I guess."
Elias raised an eyebrow. "Just okay?"
She walked over, stole a finger of frosting, and licked it. Her eyes went wide.
"Okay, it’s amazing. Since it’s mine, I’m having the biggest cake."
"Yeah... Right!" Elias laughed and continued with what he was doing.
Finally, the cakes came out perfect. It was tall, even, chocolatey heaven. Just like Lila wanted.
Elias let them cool, then stacked them with a thick layer of frosting between.
More frosting on top and sides.
He found sprinkles in a cupboard and wrote her name in messy icing letters.
They carried it to the dining room on a huge silver stand.
The table was already set... candles, balloons, a banner that said HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY LILA in bright pink. Thanks to the kids.
Elias lit the candles he found in the drawer.
The twins started singing again, louder this time.
Lila’s cheeks were red, but she was smiling so big her face might crack. She closed her eyes, made a wish, and blew. All the candles went out on the first try.
They cheered loudly.
Elias cut huge slices.
They ate with their hands because forks felt too slow.
Lila had chocolate on her nose. Dante had it in his hair. Dario was trying to lick his plate.
Elias watched them and felt something warm settle in his chest.
’This was good. It was enough.’
Until the front doors opened after a quick beep. Elias flinched when he heard high heels clicking on the marble floor.
Two women walked in. They were both tall, beautiful, and everything they were wearing looked expensive.
The twins saw them first.
"AUNT VALE! AUNT VERA!"
They ran and crashed into hugs.
The talkative one with long black hair and a red dress laughed and spun Dante around.
The quiet one, blonde, wearing a white suit, kissed Dario’s forehead.
Then both women looked at Elias, who was still wondering...
’Who the hell are these people?’
The talkative one’s eyes went wide.
"Oh my God, he’s real."
She walked straight to Elias, cupping his cheeks with both hands.
"You’re even cuter in person! Viktor wasn’t lying!"
The quiet one sighed. "Valentina, you have to learn to give people personal space."
Valentina ignored her. "I’m Valentina. This is my twin Vera. We’re Viktor’s little sisters. Well, younger sisters. We’re twenty-eight. Don’t let the baby faces fool you."
Elias’s mouth opened, closed. "Uh... hi?"
Valentina hugged him hard. "Future brother-in-law! Finally! We get to meet you!"
Vera bowed slightly. "It’s a pleasure."
Lila raised an eyebrow from the table.
"There’s more of them? I thought dealing with Daddy Bear and Mika was enough."
The twins dragged their aunts to the cake.
"We made it for Lila’s birthday!"
Valentina stole a finger of frosting. "It looks perfect. We love cake."
They sat and ate, while laughing with the twins.
Valentina kept touching Elias’s arm, his hair, like she couldn’t believe he was real.
Vera asked polite questions about school, the twins, and other stuff.
Lila watched everything with narrow eyes, as if she didn’t want anyone to finish her cake, but ate three slices anyway.
Then the front doors opened again after another beep.
This time, Viktor walked in.
He was still in the same black shirt from two days ago, sleeves rolled up, shadows under his eyes.
The twins ran to him.
"Daddy!"
He caught them both, one under each arm, and kissed their heads.
His eyes found Elias across the room, who didn’t wear any expression on his face. Why?
Valentina noticed the red mark on Viktor’s collar... lipstick, bright and obvious.
She gasped dramatically.
"Oh! Viktor! Is that lipstick?!"
Vera turned too. Elias saw it first.
The room went very quiet as Viktor froze.
Elias’s hand tightened around his fork until his knuckles went white.
Valentina’s mouth fell open.
"That’s definitely from a lady. Who..." she started.
Elias stood up slowly. The sound the chair made as it dragged back made everyone turn to Elias.
But his voice was calm. Too calm, like he didn’t care about the lipstick mark. But the fork bent in his hand.
"Who is she?"
Viktor opened his mouth to speak but no sound came out.
As he remained silent, Elias’s heart cracked wide open.
