Chapter 152: Jealous Viktor! 2
Elias furrowed his brows, tilting his head further. "Bad idea? Why?" He shrugged, his voice light but insistent. "If the owner of the house won’t give you a room, you can sleep in mine. No big deal... It’s big enough, and I don’t mind."
Viktor walked toward Elias then, his steps deliberate and heavy on the floor, and grabbed his arm lightly, pulling him close.
"Why aren’t you asking me for help? Or even calling my name? What’s going on with you?"
Elias released himself from the grip with a slight twist, stepping back and sighing. "I don’t have to. Let go... you’re being weird."
Viktor sighed, his frustration clear in the way his brows furrowed.
"Ethan, you two can stay and leave in the morning. It’s fine."
Elias clapped his hands together, his mood lifting instantly.
"Great! I’ll go get the dinner served then." He started to turn away, eager to get things moving.
Viktor held his hand and pulled him back gently but insistently, glaring over at Jace with a look that could freeze water. Jace got the silent message loud and clear... back off... and turned to Ethan quickly. "Uh, Ethan, let’s help in the kitchen? Get the meals or something."
Ethan nodded, catching the vibe immediately. "Yeah, good idea. Lead the way... I’ll follow."
They left quickly, the door swinging shut behind them, leaving Viktor and Elias alone in the dining room. Viktor pinned Elias against the edge of the table, his voice low and intense, a mix of concern and irritation. "What is wrong with you? You’ve been ignoring me all evening. Did I do something?"
Elias turned his face away, avoiding Viktor’s eyes, his cheeks flushing slightly from the closeness. "Let go. Don’t stay this close... the kids could come in any second."
Viktor didn’t budge, his grip firm but not painful. "Answer me first. What’s going on? You’ve been distant since the Corleone visit."
Elias sighed, his shoulders slumping a bit as he gave in. "It’s nothing. I have a headache, okay? I need a long rest, so I’m avoiding everyone. Happy now?"
Viktor opened his mouth to say more, to push for the real reason because he could tell there was something deeper, but footsteps approached from the hallway... the light patter of the twins’ shoes. He leaned forward quickly, whispering into Elias’s ear, his breath warm.
"Come to my room later. We need to talk... really talk."
Elias shook his head firmly. "I’m not doing that."
Viktor smirked slightly, his voice dropping even lower. "Then I’ll come to yours."
Elias looked into Viktor’s eyes for a moment, his own narrowing. He whispered back, "I’ll lock my door."
Viktor chuckled low, a sound only Elias could hear. "Haven’t you wondered what that spare door in your room is for? It’s for me to sneak in and..." He slid his hand up Elias’s chest slowly, his touch light but suggestive, fingers tracing the fabric of his shirt.
The door swung open then, and Elias reacted fast, stepping hard on Viktor’s foot to create space. Viktor grabbed his leg, grunting in pain as he hopped back on one foot, trying not to curse. Elias stepped away smoothly and rushed to meet the twins who had just entered, his face composed as if nothing had happened. "Hey, you two! Starving yet?"
The twins nodded vigorously, their eyes bright with hunger. "Yeah! It smells so good!"
"Super starving!" Dario added, rubbing his tummy dramatically.
Elias grinned, ruffling their hair. "I prepared something amazing for you guys. Come on, sit down... your spots are ready."
As they walked to their seats at the table, they saw their father hopping on one foot, holding his leg with a pained expression. "Dad, what’s wrong?" Dante asked, tilting his head curiously.
"Yeah, are you hurt? Did you stub your toe?" Dario chimed in, looking concerned.
Elias kept his grin in place, glancing at Viktor quickly. "He’s praying."
Dante furrowed his brows, scratching his head. "Does Dad pray? I don’t remember him doing that."
Dario shook his head. "No, he doesn’t. He says prayers are for bedtime stories."
Elias shrugged casually, guiding them to their chairs. "Well, he started not long ago. Maybe he’s turning over a new leaf or something. Let’s eat and ignore him"
He grinned wider, a twinkle in his eye as he watched Jace and Ethan bring out the dinner trays from the kitchen, loaded with plates of pasta, veggies, and bread. The twins cheered, climbing into their seats. Vale and Vera walked in too, looking a bit tired and dishevelled, like they’d had a long day out, followed by Lila. Their hair was windblown, and Vera had a smudge of dirt on her jacket sleeve. They headed straight to Elias, who was still standing by the table.
"Hey, we’re done editing the video," Vale said, running a hand through her messy hair.
Elias smiled, giving them a thumbs-up. "Good work, you two. Must’ve been a lot."
Vera nodded, yawning a bit.
"Yeah, it was. Turned out great, though."
Vale leaned on the table.
"Want to watch it before we upload? Make sure it’s okay?"
Elias shook his head. "Nah, it’s fine. I trust you guys... go ahead and post it."
Vera smiled, relieved. "Okay, cool. Watch it online then when it’s up. Subscribers are gonna love it."
Elias nodded. "Will do. Can’t wait."
Everyone sat down and started eating, the table filling with the clink of utensils, the twins’ excited chatter about the food, and the general hum of conversation. Elias lifted his head mid-bite and saw Viktor still looking at him from across the table, his expression unreadable but intense.
Elias rolled his eyes and looked away, focusing on his plate instead, twirling pasta on his fork. Jace was secretly watching the exchange from his seat, a bit confused by the tension, when Ethan hit his side lightly under the table.
"Do you remember what I told you in the kitchen? Don’t try anything with Elias, or Viktor will put a bullet through your head."
Jace nodded quickly, whispering back. "I understand. I’m not trying anything... I promise."
