Chapter 17: Chapter 17- Raid (2)
Dante rolled to the side, dropping his axe. He somehow managed to avoid the sword.
But the short goblin didn’t stop. He followed Dante, trying to stab him.
The crushing pressure on his body didn’t vanish yet. It continued to increase, slowing down his movements.
Dante looked at the tall goblin and fired a burst of mana bolt.
The short goblin immediately backed away from the fight and protected the tall one.
Dante smiled. "Ah. Your spell is interesting. I don’t know how you manage to manipulate gravity this precise. But for this powerful spell, the drawback must be quite severe."
Dante decided to focus his attention onto the tall goblin. At first, he wanted to use the short one to train his fighting skill but the gravity spell intrigued him.
His eyes saw mana but the process of changing the mana into gravity force was shrouded. He didn’t see any mana coming at him at all.
He took a stance and was ready to face the short goblin. He placed his right hand and brought his left closer to his chest.
The short goblin swung his sword from the side. Dante dodged the attack, ducking his head. He took a step forward.
But by that time, the goblin was already swinging another one.
’The pressure is slowly building up. In 5 minutes, I will be killed by the sword.’
Dante tilted his body but the sword managed to gaze at his shoulder.
’Alright. No need to hold back now. I don’t want to use Heal for this kind of wound. Might as well make a bigger one.’ Dante thought.
He used his dash, bringing his movement speed to a normal condition. He charged forward.
The short goblin noticed the change in him and took a step back, throwing out a stab, creating a distance between.
Dante ignored the stab and let the blade enter into his left shoulder. He clenched his teeth and used his new skill.
[Zero-Point destruction.]
A purple aura coated his right hand, eating away his mana. Dante smiled at that. He took another step and punched the short goblin in the ribs with all his strength.
He then backed down, grabbing his wound.
He observed the short goblin with his eyes.
The purple aura entered into the goblin’s body, eating away the mana at a lightning speed.
The short goblin didn’t seem to notice that and continued to come forward.
Dante noted down the effect and smiled to himself.
’It is like a poison.’
Dante continued to dodge. He also noticed the change in speed. He looked at his body, especially his right hand where he coated aura.
The gravity pressure around that part of his body didn’t exist. It was a strange sensation.
The short goblin’s limbs grew slower. Soon, the short goblin dropped to the ground.
It was dead. It didn’t even last 1 minute.
Dante frowned. He quickly lifted up his arm and fired a mana bolt at the long one.
The long goblin didn’t block the bolt. It pierced the brain.
[You have slain Shaman Goblin.]
[65 points earned.]
Dante scratched his head in confusion. He didn’t get the notification when he killed the short one.
He walked toward the short one and crouched down.
He grabbed the sword nearby and stabbed at the short goblin. He repeatedly stabbed the corpse.
He didn’t get the notification.
His eyes told him that the body was truly dead. The short goblin’s existence was gone from every layer of the world.
"Guess. I can’t gain points using this skill." Dante grumbled. "Another drawback."
Dante healed his wound, relieving the shoulder. He rubbed his shoulder and walked toward Julius.
From the moment the battle started, Julius focused his attention on the boss.
Dante had to fire a few mana bolts during the initial attack. Right now, the battle is almost over.
***
Julius’s pov
He took a stance and smiled to himself. He didn’t know why he smiled. He was getting pressured by the goblin boss.
The spear moved like a snake. Each attack shifted and managed to pass through his guard. Each attack pushed him in a corner.
At first, he was worried. He couldn’t focus his mind on the attack, worrying about Dante. Because of that he had to force Dante to help him out.
He was ashamed. He cursed at himself.
Weakness consumed him and the spear pressed on.
Wounds slowly added on his body, slowing his movement.
Julius rolled to the ground with his sword and parried the incoming spear to the side. The goblin boss rotated the spear and shifted the spear.
The tip stabbed into his chest.
Julius immediately used his skill to teleport and landed on top of the building. The goblin boss looked up and jumped to the building.
"Shit." He cursed and prepared himself for another attack.
His martial skill was now in an adept stage.
He called out his status, trying to see if he managed to upgrade. He prayed for the change.
Name - Julius
Tier - Tier 2 (Pure human.)
Uniqueness - Space and Time.
Physique - Primordial Space-Time Body
Skill
Space Shift (level -10)
Chrono Clarity (level -12)
Basic swordsmanship (Adept)
Nothing changed. He tightened his grip and swallowed saliva.
His eyes caught Dante walking toward the building he was on. His body was covered in blood. The clothes on the left shoulder were torn apart.
Julius clicked his tongue.
’It is because you are weak. Pathetic. Making your friend suffer. You. You. You. You should die. Die. Die. Die. You should die that day.’
’Someone like me couldn’t become something.’
The goblin boss surged forward with the spear. Julius tried to block the attack.
He aimed to slash the wooden part of the spear. But the goblin boss was master at his spear. He took back the spear with a flick, making Julius miss.
’Ah. I am truly useless.’
His eyes widened as the spear entered into his view.
He made a faint smile.
He heard the saying that life flashed before your eyes when you get close to death. He always hoped that the saying was wrong.
Because he didn’t wish to see his life.
He was an orphan who came from a war torn area. To him blood and death were a part of normal life.
From the moment he gained his consciousness, he was forced to live in a war. People were cruel. Their cruelty spread to the children.
Because of the war, resources on the orphanage were low. Children had to fend for themselves just to stay alive.
Julius cursed at his life. He cursed his skill for slowing down the time around him. He hated it. He had trained the entire time to level up his Chrono Clarity to achieve this kind of state.
Only now, he achieved the state.
[Chrono Clarity leveled up.]
[Chrono Clarity (level - 10 to 12 )]
But it was useless. Even with his precision slowed down, he couldn’t move his sword to defend the incoming spear.
Soon, the cold steel will enter into his skull. His pathetic life will be gone.
Under his precision, the mana bolt entered and blew away the spear.
The goblin boss retreated his spear and looked down.
Julius also followed and saw Dante smiling.
"Julius." He yelled.
He let out a long sigh and said. " I am out of mana. Protect me."
He spread out his arms and smiled. "You will be my hero right? Like the legendary hero. What is his name? Ah... Start with A. I remember. Like Arthur."
Julius’s eyes widened as the memories of the past overlapped. Dante resembled a certain girl he didn’t wish to remember.
He clenched his sword and nodded. "Yeah."
He wouldn’t forgive himself. He was pathetic scum. But it seemed like the scum like him was needed. So he will try.
He will protect. Protect his friends.
