Chapter 18: Chapter 18- Raid (3)
Julius’ pov
Julius gathered himself filled with his newfound resolve. Resolve to protect someone.
He calmed himself and took a step back, bringing the sword to his chest. He glanced at the goblin boss and thought.
’His spear mastery is about 1 tier higher than me. Speed and strength are the same but he can counter my teleportation attack with his instinct. That must be because he is a monster who relies on instinct.’
Julius looked at Dante. His friend was tired, resting on the ground. He could sense mana gathering around him.
’I can’t ask for help. Earlier mana bolt must have used the last of his mana.’
Due to his newly upgrade precision skill, his mind worked fast. In a instant, he choiced to advance, trying to rely on his precision to win the fight.
The goblin boss backed down, maintaining the distance. The spear was longer than the sword.
Julius had to come near the goblin boss to get a good hit. To achieve that he needed to increase his speed. No. He needed to strike more effecuvely.
He deflected the spear to the side and steppes forward. The boss threw away the spear and engaged in hand to hand combat.
With his hand, he slapped away the sword to the side. He then spined around and kicked Julius to the head.
Julius’s brain shook inside his skull, pausing him for a brief second. But thankfully, increase in Tier made his physique tougher.
He quickly recovered from the shock but the goblin boss was faster.
He kicked up the fallen spear and stabbed Julius.
Time slowed down. His precision skill kicked in.
’Damnit.’ He cursed at himself.
He thought about how to escape the situation. In a flash, he used his
Space
shift
.
Julius appeared away from the goblin boss, his stomuch bleeding. He checked his wound and frowned.
Although he mannged to escape the terrible wound, the spear still pierced one inch inside his body.
Julius’s eyes squinted and took a stance. He didn’t plan to back away from this fight. He had a feeling that his technique could refine in this battle.
He poured mana into his legs and danced again.
Sunlight shone upon them.
Each strike brought him wounds. But it also taught him lessons. He adapted and continued to refine his technique.
’More. More. I can’t loss. I can’t back down.’
[Basic swordsmanship leveled up.]
Basic swordsmanship (Master)
The notification echoed inside his head. Julius and the goblin boss danced on the rooftop. They now matched evenly in technique.
But the wounds Julius took was too much. The wounds slowed down his attack power.
Each time he managed to slice the goblins boss, the spear stabbed him two more.
Julius backed away for a moment. He looked at the goblin boss.
His eyes cold and calmed, devoid of any thought other than to fight.
He looked at his sword and saw damage accumulating on the blade, cracks forming.
He smiled. ’I think I can do that now.’
’I have to achieve that. My strikes are shallow. With this rate, I can’t kill him.’
Julius gathered mana in his right hand and brought near to the blade. He coated the blade with mana.
He took the stance. This time he didn’t plan to defend the spear.
’Refine the mana. Add equations. Theory.’
The mana on the blade changed. It spread across the sub dimension.
He dashes forward and swung the blade with full force.
The goblin boss noticed the change in Julius’s sword.
Julius smirked as he saw the goblin boss trying to defend his strike. The familiar sound didn’t appear.
His sword passed through the spear and slashed the goblin boss in half.
[You have slain Goblin Chef.]
[850 points earned.]
Julius let out a breath and dropped to his knees. He felt his throat and bent down and threw up.
He emptied his stomuch.
He lay down on the rooftop and stared at the blue sky. He laughed in delight.
He opened his status.
Name - Julius
Tier - Tier 2 (Pure human.)
Uniqueness - Space and Time.
Physique - Primordial Space-Time Body
Skill
Space Shift (level -10)
Chrono Clarity (level -12)
Basic swordsmanship (Master)
Cleaving edge (level-1)
He focused on the newly gained skill.
Cleaving edge.
He had been training to gain this skill for a week.
Cleaving edge allowed him to slash anything. He didn’t need to use force. The mana around his sword just consumed.
The theory was simple. He observed his
Space
shift
and added the effect of teleportation to his blade. Everything the blade touched will be teleported to the sub dimension.
Ultimate attack skill.
He noticed Dante climbed to the rooftop. He kicked away the goblin boss and sat beside Julius.
"Congratulations. That attack was awesome." Dante said.
Julius smiled and remembered something. "Yeah. How is Thomas?"
Dante looked forward and squinted his eyes. He then sighed. "No need to worry. He overpowered everything."
"I see. Well, I am going to take a rest." Julius closed his eyes and fall asleep quickly.
****
Thomas’s Pov.
He was strong. He knew it because the mana said him.
Ever since he advanced to Tier 2, the mana became more familiar to him.
He looked at the group of goblins and smiled. He slammed his fist together and let out a shout.
He placed his hands on the ground and sent a wave of earth mana.
The earth mana formed into many spikes and emerged from the ground, killing 12 goblins in an instant.
Thomas brought out fire mana from his core and surrounded near his fist. He then used wind mana on his body and stepped forward.
His speed increased and with a buring fist, he punched at the goblin.
The fire mana travelled from his fist and burned through the goblins. He laughed.
Although this attack pained his fist, he ignored it. He saw his flesh falling out from his hand, revealing the white bones.
He looked at his fist and let out a twisted laugh.
"Yes. Yes. This is it." He said.
He didn’t need to focus on the wounds, the mana around him instantly rushed toward him and healed it.
Because of his tier 2 physique, mana healed faster.
He then clapped his hands and condensed wind mana in his palms.
He saw the goblins fired arrows at him. He let it hit him.
"My turn." He yelled and threw the condensed wind mana.
The wind blade sliced off the heads of the goblins.
"Too weak. Too weak."
"Hurry up. I can’t feel pain with this kind of attacks." Thomas laughed and took out an arrow from his left arm.
He then created a ball of mana. He used fire mana in the core and coated it with wind mana. It was simple.
Wind mana will aid the fire. That way, he didn’t need to use fire mana too much.
Fire mana was hard to absorb compared to the others.
He threw the fire ball at the remaining goblins and watched them burned.
He ignored the many notification and sighed.
He looked down at his shirt. "I need to buy some clothes."
He kicked away the charred goblins and said, "At least you are worth this much."
He looked around the battlefield. "I need to control my output. Otherwise, I can’t enjoy the scenery.’
