Chapter 19: Chapter 19 - Preparing
Dante channeled his mana into Julius’s body and stimulated the flesh to release life energy. He closed the serious wounds and let some for it to naturally heal.
After the healing session, he also lay down and rested for a moment.
He slept for 30 minutes and got up. He jumped down from the rooftop and started searching all the buildings in the village.
He saw Thomas sitting on the tree, his eyes closed. Dante ignored him and continued his search.
He found various kinds of things inside this village. Some were trash. Some were useful in a sense that he didn’t need to buy from the shop.
As he searched the building, he saw a book. He opened the book and checked the content. He frowned as the language was unfamiliar to him.
But the book looked interesting so he decided to keep it. There were some kinds of runes described in the book. Dante suspected that this place was home for those two goblins duo he faced.
After satisfying his curiosity, he decided to clean the village. His eyes picked up about thirty corpses inside the inner layer of the village.
He whistled and called out Thomas.
Thomas opened his eyes and jumped down from the tree. He rushed over to Dante.
"What’s up?" Thomas greeted.
Dante looked at him from head to toe. "Alright. You look bored. So why don’t you help me with something."
"Sure."
Dante pointed at the corpses around him and said. "I want to clear this place."
"Oh. Are we changing our base?"
Dante nodded and looked around at the village. "Yeah. This place is quite good. It is near the stream as well. The only problem is that wolves will attack at night."
Thomas rubbed his chin and said. "I have to do something about that. Oh. How about this? I will raise the walls around the inner layer."
"Can you finish this in a day?" Dante asked.
Thomas looked around the surroundings and shook his head. "I don’t think so. I will need about 3 or 4 days."
Dante nodded in understanding. "Okay. I want you to start creating walls tomorrow. For now, we need to clear the corpses."
Thomas smiled. "Got it. How is Julius?"
"He is fine. Just tired." Dante answered.
Thomas went and dug the giant hole in the outer layer.
Dante dragged the corpses to the hole and threw it inside. They filled the hole with piles of corpses.
Dante looked at the sky and said to Thomas. "I will leave the finishing touch to you. I will go to the cave and have to make some food."
Thomas waved and threw a fire ball to the hole.
Dante bolted to the cave. He grabbed his clothes and went to the stream nearby. His eyes picked up a few monsters on the way but he ignored it.
Or he quickly killed them with a mana bolt. He tried not to use Zero-Point destruction. He would probably use this skill when he was out of this tutorial plane.
He took off the clothes and tossed them on the tree. He then entered the water and washed away the smell.
He floated on the water and stared at the sky, trying to relax his mind. Today has been a somewhat rough day.
But he was happy with it. He saw a new form of magic. Although he didn’t understand it yet, it was good enough for him.
He saw Julius getting his confidence back.
’Thomas is getting a bit weird. Does blessing influence a person’s mind?’
He thought to himself. He opened the shop and purchased the blessing theory manual. He grabbed the manual in the air and threw it to the side.
After swimming for a good minute, he stepped out from the stream.
He headed back to the cave and grabbed a few herbs and spices. He also took the meat and went to the goblin village.
He saw Thomas washing himself.
His eyes picked up Julius sitting on the rooftop. ’Nice. He is awake now. Time for a party.’
He set up a fire in the central area and started cooking up food.
Julius jumped down from the rooftop and landed neatly beside the fire.
"Smells good." He said.
He tried to grab the meat but Dante threw a chopstick at Julius.
"Ouch." Julius rubbed his hand.
"Go take a shower." Dante said.
"Okay." He ran toward Thomas.
Dante entered the building nearby and took out a table and three chairs. He set up the table nicely.
After that, he went to the village chef’s house and brought an alcohol bottle.
His eyes revealed no poison in the drink. But to be sure, he tasted a little bit.
The drink was similar to beer. He emptied the drink quickly.
For some reason, his tolerance for alcohol was the same. He thought pure humans meant higher tolerance.
He scratched his head and sat on the chair. The stars were now coming up.
Dante snapped his finger and released his mana in the air. This time, he enveloped the entire surroundings, spreading across.
The purpose was to kill off mosquitoes.
He tried this every night and was still waiting for the system to give him the skill.
He chuckled at himself.
Thomas and Julius came to the table and sat down. They both grabbed cups and looked at Dante.
"Oh. This is an alcohol I found in that building. I don’t think it is poison. Pretty good so far." He said, lifting up the cup and drinking it.
Thomas was the first to slip the drink. He nodded. "Not so bad."
Seeing Thomas, Julius also followed them.
They began feasting on the food, stuffing meat into their mouths.
"When are we going to the dungeon?" Thomas asked.
"In 5 days." Dante said, picking his nose.
"That long?" Thomas said.
"I think it is a good pace." Julius remarked. "For me, at least."
"Besides, we need to start packing rationally." Dante said. "I need to hunt for meat and dry them."
"We don’t need to worry about water but I want to create a water bottle."
Julius nodded. "Yeah."
Dante looked at the two friends and smiled.
"I will take charge in packing. You two focus on training. Especially Thomas."
Thomas pointed at himself. "Me? I am strong."
"Yeah. You. I know you are strong but your control over power is too crude."
"How so?" Thomas asked.
"We are going to a dungeon. I am certain that we will fight the monster in a tight space. Because of that no large scale earth mana attack. That will change the support of the structure."
Dante paused and took a slip. He continued. " And no fire mana. I don’t want to risk that in a tight space."
Thomas nodded. "I see. So I will use two mana. Wind and water."
"Focus more on water." Dante gave advice. "Like squeezing water into a whip or something like that."
Thomas rubbed his chin and nodded. "I will try."
Dante turned to Julius and said, "I want you to train your sword. Your skill is deathly but in a dungeon, you have limited place to teleport. Try adding teleportation to your fighting style."
"Your usage of teleportation is rather lacking. You either use it for travel or when escaping."
Julius nodded slowly.
