Chapter 21: Chapter 21- Dungeon’s hallway
Dante first noticed the change in space. It warped and twisted. The physical plane followed the space and morphed the entire hallway.
Dante smiled and braced for the impact. But there was none. Instead, he fell into the endless void of darkness.
His eyes widened as he saw the hallway ripped apart.
’The first theory is correct. The hallway can’t support the two opposite paths. And because it tried to create a faster way for them, it destroyed the middle part.’
Dante thought as he fell. His eyes then picked up a ground, he immediately hugged himself and landed on the soft ground.
The fall was not that intense. Dante stood up and grabbed his small axe. He channeled mana into the axe, glowing faintly in the darkness.
Dante channeled a ball of mana and created a structure inside the ball. The ball of mana then transformed into a light.
He let it float in the air and created another one.
He threw the next one faraway from him. He repeated the process, lighting up the whole room.
He had been observing on creating a rune inside the blue stone. The rune was simple so he mimicked it with ease.
’Maybe this is why I missed the space being the same.’ He thought to himself. For some reason, his instinct was telling him to learn how to create a light ball.
Dante looked around the room. There was an air of heaviness hanging in the room.
He noticed a shadow running away from his eyes. Dante frowned and threw his axe.
He grabbed the next one from his waist belt.
The axe hit the shadow, resulting in a screeching sound. Dante turned around and was faced by a monster.
The monster was a mix of animals he had seen. The head was similar to a frog and yet, fangs creeped out from its mouth. The body was lizard-like, covered in black thick fur
It also had horns similar to a bason.
It snarled at him, saliva coming out from the mouth.
Dante’s eyes went cold and channeled mana into the axe. He saw the earlier axe sticking out from the back of the monster.
Dante used
Dash
and appeared in front of the monster.
The monster hissed and moved its tail. Dante picked up mana in the tail but it didn’t use it to attack him.
Instead, the tail waved in the air.
Immense the space warped and the physical plane followed. A wall emerged from the ground, blocking his dash. Dante forcefully stopped his body and stepped on the wall.
With his superspeed, he climbed the wall and continued to pursue the monster.
The monster continued waving its tails, blocking his attempt, trying to take him out. Dante tried to not reveal his full speed.
He also didn’t dare to use too much mana. He didn’t know the reason, his instinct was just warning him.
He jumped down from the wall and saw the ground had vanished.
’Hmm. Seems like the monster managed to create a new hallway for me. It is smart.’ Dante thought.
He took out another axe and threw it in the air. After that, he twisted his body and slammed his axe in the wall, dragging across his body.
He also channeled his fist with mana and punched the walls, grabbing the hole.
He looked down at the empty hole and whistled. He then closed his eyes and manipulated the mana in the axe he threw.
There was one rune engraved into the Hurlbat. He didn’t expect this kind of rune when he first brought the axe. But because of this he had to buy another two axes.
The rune was simple. By establishing the connection with his mana, he could control the trajectory of the axe he threw.
The axe traveled fast in the air, before it collided with the wall, it turned around and went straight to the monster.
The monster didn’t seem to recognize the axe as it didn’t dodge.
The axe went between the horns and embedded in the skull.
Dante looked down as the empty hole on the ground vanished. He climbed up the wall and jumped down.
He looked around and saw the room returning to normal state.
He walked toward the monster, still breathing. He swung the axe on his hand without hesitation, splitting the head in half.
[You have slain Hodag.]
[670 points earned.]
He stepped on Hodag’s head and took out the axe. Another one was sticking on the back.
After taking the axes, he sat down and took out a white cloth he found from the goblin village. He wiped the red blood from the axes carefully.
He decided to stay here for a bit, waiting for his friends to come. And this time, it was not his instinct that told him.
He looked at the room and immediately realized that the previous hallway led to this room.
There was a black door etching on the wall. Dante had a suspicion that the wall would lead to a second stage.
To be honest, the first stage was not that hard. Sure, the monster was weird but its attack power was limited.
Dante let out a sigh. He closed his eyes and took a look at his core. 90 percent mana left in the reserve.
For some reason, he didn’t want to absorb the mana in the surroundings.
After waiting for 15 minutes, he heard running from the hallway.
He reluctantly stood up and took out the axe from his belt. He checked his status. There was no chance in his skill.
He was hoping his martial skill would improve. He heard from Julius that after beginner, there was
Adept
.
He threw a light ball into the hallway and saw Thomas and Julius running.
Thomas waved at him with enthusiasm. Julius just gave a smile.
Thomas pointed at the monster and said, "This is the thing I saw."
Julius came near the monster and touched it. He frowned.
"What’s wrong?" Thomas asked.
"I sense my space energy." Julius slowly said.
Dante also frowned. "The monster is easy to kill." He then pointed at the door.
"The next stage is over there I think."
Thomas walked toward the door and nodded. "I can’t sense mana behind the door. It is like a void."
"I can’t sense space either." Julius added.
Dante knitted his brows in confusion. His eyes picked up another hallway behind the door.
"My eyes show me the hallway, the same as this one." Dante revealed.
Three of them looked at each other and nodded. "This dungeon is not like what I imagine."
Julius nodded. "I thought this place would be swarming with monsters."
Thomas let out a sigh, taking out a water bottle and drinking it.
"Any ideas, what the hallway led to?"
"I think it will restrict our power." Dante said, thinking deeply. "Except for my eyes."
"I think Dante should go first." Julius said with a frown.
"I am thinking of this as well,"Dante said.
Thomas was silent.
"Do you want to go first?" Dante asked Thomas.
Thomas shook his head. "No. It is not like that. I am just worried about you."
Dante smiled and patted at Thomas’s back. "Don’t worry too much. You got my back."
With these words, Dante opened the door and stepped forward. From the moment he stepped into the hallway, something rushed over to him and shut off his core.
He walked a few steps and stopped, closing his eyes. He felt his core but some kind of energy was warping around his core, preventing him from assessing mana.
