Chapter 32: Chapter 32 - We win (1)
Thomas’s Pov.
He dodged the knight’s hand and jumped onto the arm. He pushed himself, running toward the knight’s head, trying to give a nice punch.
The knight looked at Thomas and lifted up the other hands and slammed onto him, almost like trying to kill a mosquito.
Thomas rolled to the side and jumped down, he used Wind mana to slow down his fall and landed smoothly.
He saw Julius arrive onto the knight’s head and drove the long sword into the head.
He stared at Julius’s attack and looked at his hands. He clenched his hands in frustration.
No matter what he did, he couldn’t damage the knight. They had been going at this for thirty minutes.
Thomas knew that Julius was pushing himself, his mana was slowly going to be gone.
’What should I do? I can increase my mana usage.’
Julius arrived beside him and let out a cough.
"If we continue like this, my lungs will collapse. Too much dust going around." Julius said.
Thomas nodded, deeply thinking about his attacks.
"Why don’t you use combined mana?" Julius asked, noticing his friend’s expression.
Thomas looked at Julius and tilted his head in confusion. "What?"
"You can’t add more fire mana into your spear right? Then why don’t you add wind mana? That way, you can create greater power."
Thomas nodded and shook his head slowly.
He rolled to the side, dodging the longsword. He then kicked at the sword to the side, making the knight lose its balance.
"It is great in theory but in practice, I can’t control two mana at their highest peak. So either the spear collapsed or it exploded." Thomas explained.
"I see. But it is worth trying." Julius said, appearing beside him.
"My attack can bypass the black armor but it is too shallow. The giant things are my weak point, especially this knight that doesn’t have any flesh or can’t feel pain."
Thomas listened to Julius and nodded.
He contemplated for a few moments and let out a long sigh. "Alright. Alright. I will create the twin mana spear."
"Twin mana spear? Seriously? You should change the name." Julius said with a chuckle.
Thomas’s face reddened and yelled. "Easy for you to say, I don’t have the system listing out my skill."
He ran back and took a stance he was familiar with.
He first gathered fire mana inside his palm. He shaped the mana into the ball and activated it, creating a small fire ball.
Thomas didn’t plan to make any shape other than the ball. Although he said he will try to create a twin mana spear, the spear required more control.
He closed his eyes and listened to the mana around him. They whispered soft encouragement to him, cheering him on.
Mana was a strange phenomenon to him. Unlike his friend, he viewed mana as a living being. They had will but that will power was quite faint.
"Here goes nothing." He said.
He slowly added more fire mana to the ball. He watched as the fire continued to burn bright at a steady pace.
It flickered a few times and changed the color from bright orange to blue. Then the restriction came toward him, stopping the fire mana from mixing in with the blue flame.
He exhaled a breath and willed the wind mana inside him. He channeled the wind mana to the flame.
In an instant, the flame enlarged and exploded, sending him back and crushing to the wall.
Thomas stayed there for a while and got up.
He cracked his neck and let the mana healed his wounds. Slowly, the pain around his body vanished.
Even the burn on his palm was healed.
He took the stance again and tried it again. He needed to work faster. Right now, Julius was the one who was holding the knight in place.
Thomas saw his blond friend teleporting from one to the next, constantly slashing with its sword.
Thomas knew that his limb would be gone if he took the slash. But he wondered if he could regenerate the missing limb.
That would be good.
His regeneration goal was to surpass what he experienced during his first core forming. He remembered healing from just a single drop of blood.
He shook his head and slapped his face. He immediately channeled mana and created a fire ball.
Again, he was blown away by the fire ball.
This time, he added the wind mana slowly but after a few seconds, it exploded without any reason.
"You need to work faster, Thomas. I am running out of mana." Julius yelled out, cutting off the knight’s fingers.
Thomas nodded and his eyes went serious. He took the stance and again tried to create the twin mana technique.
His finger was torn away by the blast.
Again.
Flesh melted away due to the intense heat created by the blast.
Again.
His spine broke and unable to move for a few minutes. He had to let mana heal this broken spine.
Again.
He was sent far away by the blast due to him turning his back from the wall.
Again.
Legs broken.
Again and again. He tried. He added. He mixed. No matter what he did, the answer was the same. A giant explosion.
If only this explosion was strong enough, he would gladly sacrifice himself and kill that giant knight.
He remembered the knight and looked up, he saw Julius and Dante both fighting against the knight.
"When did Dante wake up?" He asked.
Both of his friends were fighting with their life. No. It was more like they were trying to survive the knight onslaught.
"Thomas. Hurry up." Julius yelled out.
Dante looked behind and smiled at Thomas and continued throwing mana bolts.
Thomas’s hand trembled as he recalled unpleasant memories of the past. He immediately pushed the memories to the back of his mind.
As he was figuring out his feelings, someone crushed landed beside him.
He rushed toward the wall and checked.
It was Dante.
He picked up his fragile friend and placed him on the ground. "Mana. Hurry and heal him."
Dante sat up slowly and threw a punch at Thomas’s face.
Thomas was taken back by this but soon he realized the meaning as he felt mana leaving and entering inside Dante.
"That is for making me wake from my dream." Dante said with a smile. "It is awesome right? Trying out new stuff."
Thomas nodded. "A bit frustrating. I feel like I am getting it wrong."
Dante let out a sigh. "I was thinking of letting you come up with your own path but time is getting dire. The lich’s main soul is going to awaken."
Dante snapped his finger and said. "Try mixing the two mana from the start."
Thomas widened his eyes as his mind picked up the final piece of the puzzles. He smacked his forehead and muttered.
"I am so dumb."
Dante shrugged and patted Thomas. "Come immediately when you get your twin mana or something. The name is lame you know right?"
"I know."
"I will create a nice path for you to give your all. Just yell out when you are done." Dante parted away from Thomas with those words.
Thomas stood up and took a stance. Knowing the method and getting it done was not the same.
He focused and started creating the ball.
It exploded again but Thomas laughed as he knew he was near the end goal.
It was now fighting against the limit.
